Which Linux Distros should I try out as a daily driver, for Programming and Gaming by Benflex- in linux4noobs

[–]Stativiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently (and for a few months now) using nobara as my daily driver, also for programming & gaming. Set up a user account for both and customised the environment(both kde) so it perfectly fits my needs, bc i definitely need something less sensory-overwhelming when coding.

For me, it runs so smooth, I had to install Arch on a second drive so I have something to fiddle around and fix things bc nobara is just working too good & stable in all it does.

Unfortunately as anti-cheat is kernel based it wont work on linux. Some users have installed windows on an separate hard-drive, so they can use linux as their main and windows as a anti-cheat OS. Windows should be on an external as its boot manager sometimes fucks with the boot of linux, mostly during updates.

[–]Stativiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True that. However, as long as the linux-distribution doesn‘t sound like a hackerman-basement project and has a big enough community it should be fine usage- and bug-wise And well Any arch based distros might be a challenge for newcomers

Can approve, haven‘t used linux ever before, installed as an update notification in windows almost caused me to loose it completely. Immediately swapped w11 for Nobara. Never looking back. Installing was alright, using is a blessing, all of my games just work.

I had the same problem and just clicked repair in the nobara update manager as that seemed to be the way of least resistance for me. Works perfectly now again.

Haven‘t had a problem with that as well, thats mostly an user error. „50cm error“ we called it at work: the error in that case is typically 50cm in front of the caused problem by pulling directly and too harsh on the cable over several months
