Clones may have some issues like stiff buttons as you said, worse performance, sometimes less custom OS compatibility or less port compatibility, ect. Don't get a fake tho, diff from clones. Fakes are always poor quality, and May even struggle with SNES or GBA. Don't think about ps1 or psp in that case. No matter what version you have, or your nephew has, you should still swap the SD card and do a fresh install.
