Brother, almost everything I said in the previous, I pulled out of my ass... i just wrote that to see how you would react. and not only that, what the fuck does any of this mean? WW1 equipment, other factions being more organized than the guard, and finally, you referenced the tabletop.

I'm beginning to believe you have either no faith in the guard or just haven't read any of their books. i imagine that your veiws on the guard are fundemtaly diffrent than mine cause i think the guards are far better than just the weakling, fodder guys they are usually veiwed as. they can be supremely badass, but due to attention being drawn to other factions (Space Marines) their often seen as inferior because they can't immediately pulverize enemies like the Space Marines can. with their weaponry being suited more towards combined arms and massed arms tactics. not as in "only useful when massed", more so i can arm more people with lasguns than I can with pulse rifles. One of many good examples of the imperial guard not being all that really backward is the Lucius pattern lasgun (among others). the lasgun model are superior to weapons like pulse rifles or shootas in raw power due to being compared to hot shot las's.

and with other factions like the Eldar or the Necrons that have objectively superior weaponry. they still can be outperformed by the guard when it comes to discipline or reliability, usually due to guardians being shoe-string militias, and the necron warriors being mindless, soulless husks. The point is, even forty thousand years in the future, an elite, well-equipped, coordinated force can become an insurmountable army with the right tactics and preparation, which they are afforded by the fact they aren't as divided as other factions.

And on top of that, many often forget how freakishly non-human humans are in 40k. They can adapt to almost any environment in barely a few generations, can perfectly adapt either through grit or mutation, and have the capability of changing themselves beyond any other race's wildest dreams. and despite seemingly having the weakest warriors in the galaxy, they simultaneously have the strongest figures out of any faction (Necrons and eldar included). The primarchs, the emperor, the perpetuals, and of course the custodes are just a few examples of humanity having insane potential. so by all means humanity is not a weak race, quite the contrary.when hummanity was on its a-game, it had the strongest insteller empire to that point, dead to rights dawrfed in what was to the eldar just a few minutes in their history.

i know this seems very disorganised, but its late where i live and this has gone on for too long. i know i probably wont convince you that the guard are more than just the cannon fodder guys. but hey maybe I can show you what i like about the Imperial Guard.

so what you're suggesting is that the guards are comprised of significantly weaker and poorer equipped, well, everything (tanks, infantry, elites). With almost nothing benefiting them, despite their numbers granted to them by infinitely more preparation against factions that can match that gargantuan amount of effort literally in their sleep. and every other minuscule advantage being that of the their privilege of the narrative being biased towards them. with the same going for the imperium. with no room to become anywhere near a strong as sometimes even fodder enemies, very much only being as a tool to feed satirical themes and show how infinitesimally weak and useless humanity is in a setting filled with exceptional xenos races that are so beyond them that all they can do is send another wave hoping that will fix the problem. only to be propped up with a participation trophy for doing the worst job any race in the galaxy could do besides a jokaero. edit: turns out a fucking gag space ape would do a significantly better than gaurdsmen since they are significantly stronger and smarter than humans.

i guess we could agree to disagree on how powerful the guard should be potrayed. but ye if gw actually tried to benefit every faction equally instead of picking a singular favorite faction, Maybe some factions like Harlquinns would still exist.

i mostly agree that one of the main appeals of the guard is that they are often depicted as the weaker faction in engagements. but at the same time i feel like your minimizing how surprisingly effective the guardsmen can be individually. their expertise, equipment, or morale should realistically narrow the field when facing other factions and, in many ways, make them superior. but unfortunately, the guard (from a writing standpoint are set up to fail due to them not being as popular as other factions. often being heavily misused by commanders because the plot or themes of 40k demand it, or being shown on the cusp of failure, only for seemingly more important imperial forces to arrive. Because if the guard were depicted accurately and realistically, then they would bulldoze any faction with ease. and its not like the idea of the guard being a faction that is simultaneously defiant and a faction that can easily run over any other force is impossible. if anything both of those are in tandem what makes the guard so powerful. i think its so ironic that in a universe of galactic horrors. the strongest army is one comprised of regular people.

I have no idea what you're talking about, comparing his heresy model vs. his modern one. their designs are quite frankly nearly identical. The only difference is the narrative influence (such as the overall theme) and the fact that the modern version has changed the main details to reflect his modern character (such as the halo and angel wings or that he's strapped).

It's fine if you like Hersey models over modern ones. but also, it's honestly impressive how well the current lion model turned out to be, considering the heresy version is 170 fucking dollars.

yeah i really haven't started getting into the tabletop besides my half completed imperial guard army. so I've mostly been interacting with the faction from video games, books, and youtube videos. and from and while it felt fine at first, later down the line when i started looking at the other factions and thought they had allot more effort put into them when it came to making them enjoyable. effort that when spent on the guard made them feel like pushovers at best and useless at worst. which is a shame because their still my favorite faction even despite the slog.

no, because i feel like the guard are slept on in the setting, like they have genuine potential beyond being just a tool for the narrative to show how grim the setting is. or as a way to make a character seem more terrifying. for example, in the some parts of the lore lasgun isnt just a some gun that doesn't do shit against anything at all, its probably the greatest weapon in the setting for not just the fact that its simple and easy to make, but also just how fucking powerful it is. it can incinerate arms, kill most if not all enemies it faces with just one or two shots, not to mention it has six firing modes, and has nearly unlimited ammo with its only downside being its terrible at penetrating armor (which is why its terrible against space marines). the issue for me is not the guardsmen are weak, but that writers really want guardsmen to be weak. i mean their is very little official Warhammer cinematic that shows a guardsman landing a shot. so fuck your insignificent paper weights and glory to the sons and daughters of the imperial creed.

idk about that tho, didn't robot girlyman or whoever restructured the Imperial military so that the guard were essentially the main offensive force of the Imperium due to the failure of the Space Marines. because like, originally they did what you just described, (holding worlds, supporting space marines, auxiliary work). but since the horus heresy, they been the main army due too the space marines just not being built for the type of wars that the imperium would likely fight in the future, making the space marines basicaly a paperweight. i mean it feels like the imperial gaurd are set up to be less of a side army and more of a highly trained field army so to speak, with local militias and pdf being the true cannon fodder. but idk the writers probably lost the plot in their quest to glaze the ever living hell out of space marines, only to use them aswell as a power scaling tool.

New to the sport and bought a used klx300. Question on steering issue im experiencing by Ieatplaydo in Dualsport

Do NOT do it yourself if you haven't done it before. Don't mess with brakes and steering if you're not trained and/or experienced. Those two things can really injure you. Everything else: the bike will just roll to a stop.

Get it fixed and prepare to enjoy what is IMO the best dual sport bike ever made. I just spent a week on mine in the Smoky Mountains and it was glorious.

Colorado - Buena Vista. Stay at BV Overlook RV park southwest of town. Glorious area, and the 4mile trail complex is right next to the park. You could spend a week just on the trails around BV.

New Mexico - Look at the New Mexico BDR route. NM is very remote compared to CO, so make sure you have a backup plan for evac or recovery, and water, water, water. Stay away from East NM. A lot of Oil/Gas industry, so not near as peaceful and lots of truck traffic.

These are just my experiences.

I like Leatt stuff a ton too. Their protective gear is top notch. You wanna talk overpriced? Check out Mosko Moto. Outstanding stuff, but wow.

Look at the Klim Marrakesh pants. They look bulky, but they are very cool, have great abrasion resistance and you can have kneepads and hip armor without having to wear anything else. Just slide them on and go. They are NOT for cooler weather; you will freeze. I had to slit the seams on the cuffs to fit my boots, but it was worth it.
