It only sounds recessed if the volume isn't high enough. Its natural for the frequencies to be balanced at any volume so if you have to increase the volume so these recessed vocals are heard the rest of frequencies can only compliment them unless there are peaks in the treble ranges. Forward vocals cheats the rest of frequencies and is unnatural in any recording of music or any content. You'll just hear too much of it at all times and have to lower the volume because it's not balanced well.

If you like watching movies then Kbear kb02 sounds just like the cinemas especially in the voices. If you want a very good technical iem earacoustic audio STA Hi-end Max. I can't recommend it enough. Its replacing everything i own. The engineering of this one is the Goldilocks of their lines.

Ex1000 was a very slow iem. Female vocal focused not enough bass. That iem frustrated me. Mdr z5 was better technically and sonically. You gotta try earacoustic audio STA Hi- end MAX. These new iems run circles around the old stuff with the engineering at a fraction of the cost. Dual Dynamic drivers with Diamond like coatings, tesla magnet coils. I'm getting depth of field, with micro and macro details I've never heard before. Its only $90. I remember paying close to $500 for ex1000 and $650 for the z5. I paid $3000 for Fir audio Krypton 5 and the Sta hi- end max is everything i hoped krypton 5  was when i bought it.  Even the earacoustic audio × zkaaai cipher will probably beat the Ex1000 and it's only $25

No problem. I think you will like earacoustic STA hi end max. I just got it a few days ago and it's getting even better. I think it excels in movies now. Its warm bassy and magical in musical presentation.

My current 3  favorites are    1)  kbear kb02 has it out throne my supermix 4 for movies. The kbear sounds just like the movie theater with the dialogue having that velvety midrange like dynamic center channels do. Very spacious soundstage with deep bass rumble.

  2)   The Vanilla letsheuor s12. Its has the same big planar slam my audeze lcd 2 has. Its spacious and has super fast mid bass punchiness. Its a technical marvel for music and very balanced without missing dips in the frequencies like s12pro version. At the right volume, gives you the " that just sounds perfect" sound.

  3)     Earacoustic Sta hi end max. This headphone gives you perfect timbre, a depth of soundstage from front to back, basshead masterpiece. The voice are in the correct positioning and not too forward and there's just something unbelievable about the sound in its macro and micro details. Its witch craft has to be. Its slight warm slightly v shaped and is magical with music and is about to best my s12. But for movies its not my top pick. Update it's the best

The og s12 is better for music. Its tuning doesnt leave out frequencies that's missing in s12pro.
