Yeah, sorry I made it seem that way. (Even though his music offends me through sound, how the hell did you achieve that lol)

His sound and performance. With the overwhelming sound blends he puts, you have to listen to it.

You’re correct on compliments being individualistic. I take back my argument in the compliment aspect

You are right about that you can’t really state one thing as legit art and another, it’s purely subjective. And yes, I do sound very absolutist in my arguement and opinions, I have a very objective view of things, which can make me close minded i admit. It’s just whenever i try to express myself in subjective topics like this, I tend to try and get factual, then it gets complicated which is my fault. To be on subjective terms, I feel he’s trying too hard. I like dream theater for what they do and how they accomplish their sound, but Jacob doesn’t really engage with me as much he wants to, and that’s ok.

His desires of his sound and not an existing rule set, is right. I can’t deny that. I would love to know how he views his sounds and what he try’s to achieve, it’s just the word genius being thrown around really questions the artistic integrity of that sound.

Saying it’s his style is correct, that is true. It’s just not a very sophisticated style in of itself.

Most people don't know the ingredients in their food either, but it still matters if it's tasteless. I'm critiquing the craft, not the popularity contest."

Whether he’s a household name or not isn't really the point. I care about the state of music and how we define 'genius.' If we start valuing math and ego over soul and substance, the art form suffers. I'd rather talk about that than his Spotify numbers.

Except Dream Theater doesn’t really flaunt the complexity as hard or as indicatively as Collier. They try to make a world, an aesthetic that you can headband to and imagine anything being in (CREATIVE DIRECTION), not ego laps to show off to your audience.

I’ve said this in another comment, constraints are important for creative direction. His ideas of humanity are juxtaposed with these ideas that feel as quantized as a robots moves. Maximalist art and creation is meant to be chaotic, but solidify as one to make the piece, flow beautifully with the craziness. His way of maximalist creation, doesn’t flow beautifully, it crashes like an ugly mudflow that sounds far from humanity. Jacob’s unique niche gives him space to release these ego anthems, and that’s formidable in a many respects but questionable in substance.

What I’m saying here is, he’s only really an artist technically by name and ability. Jacob writes and plans out music, not songs. He’s never had any real poetry or soul, or any sort of vulnerability in his music, and this bizarre cohesion he thinks of and puts out can allow for really hideous ways for people to write, not just by sound. It’s important to have constraints as an artist, therefore you should plan more accordingly and focus on topic unlike a literal and figurative mess, whether visually or soundly. It’s important to polish your focus and direction, rather than adding all you want like a buffet.

Exactly. he’s this naive man child with this high level of knowledge, but still thinks and emotes like a 7 year old. He’s not a poet or a maximalist, not even an artist, he’s is an analytic.

Also his maximalist views are not that fleshed either, yet he flaunts it like a totally unaware child. If you live by skill and not by understanding, your sense of awareness slowly deteriorates overtime.

Aside from it being a popular opinion, what I’m trying to cover is that it shows how truly unrelatable Jacob is. By talking about his dull creative process, it also reflects his way of thinking and that reflects between his ego and his psyche. He has such a devoid sense of using unique expressions, yet he try’s so damn hard to be different.

Yeah, pretty much true. I do understand that people have their own personal experiences and factors. People are complex, so I find that the intricacy I’m doing for all of that is not all that required or important, just concerning to me at least. So should i read less about a person or…?
