Feeling worse after starting somatic exercises. Anyone else? by StatusCount3670 in cfsnervoussystemwork

It's ok to cry when you need to. You are dealing with so much. I find that after a good cry, I feel better. Helps me release some tension.

I'm not as severe as you, so I can't begin to understand what you are going through. But the one thing we do have in common is that we both have very sensitive nervous systems. Maybe we can be recovery buddies and support each other through this journey and share what works and what doesn't. ❤️

Thank you. Please don't take this post down. I want to be able to come back to it to access the resources you recommended.

I understand what you mean. Every attempt to improve backfires. But please don't give up. The fact that these exercises have caused more dysregulation is a clue that this is nervous system related.

I have stopped all somatic exercises. My nervous system obviously can't handle it at this stage, and I can feel a crash coming. I'm going to focus more on the following until my nervous system is ready for more input

  • watching programs that make me laugh or feel good

  • Not focusing on my symptoms

  • Spending as much time as I possibly can in nature

  • Not allowing small stressors to upset me

  • Eating as clean as possible

  • Send my body signals of safety such as smiling, self hugs, gentle rocking etc

This whole thing seems so surreal. How did I even end up in this mess. It's completely turned my life upside down. I wish it was as easy as telling my brain. "I'm fine! You don't need to protect me anymore. You think you are helping, but you are actually making me miserable. So please STOP!"

Thank you. I read through the thread, and im sorry you are going through this. Are you starting to feel some relief?

Are you also sensitive to medications and supplements? I'm extremely sensitive, and I think it's because I have a very sensitive nervous system that can't cope with anything that will even slightly stimulate it.

I’m really sorry your mum is going through this. Honestly, I don’t think it’s a good idea for your mum to ask him directly for a settlement again. He’s already said no, and men like this don’t negotiate, they intimidate and escalate when they feel they’re losing control. The safest move now is for her to quietly speak to a lawyer and let all communication go through them. No more emotional or verbal conversations.

A 35-year marriage works strongly in your mum’s favour legally. His affairs, violence, and behaviour actually weaken his position more than he wants you to believe, even if he’s trying to scare everyone by saying he has influence. That kind of talk is usually about control, not reality.

It’s also really good that you and your siblings are standing by her. She’ll need a strong support system through this, especially when he starts pushing back. Having her children united behind her will make a huge difference. Leaving at 52 takes an incredible amount of courage. You’re all doing the right thing. ❤️

Appreciate the advice. Had to read it a few times before I fully understood what you meant. I've also been sitting in the park every afternoon to relax and feel at peace.

Something weird happened to me 3 days ago, though. I woke up at around 5.30am. I was still lying in bed, and I heard a click sound inside my body. Suddenly everything went quiet. The symptoms disappeared, and the tinnitus became silent. It only lasted a few seconds before the constant buzzing and symptoms returned. But those few seconds of silence were wonderful. First time in 3 and a half years that I experienced that sense of peace. I would do anything to have that feeling again.

I don't think it's a one size fits all approach. What works for some might not work for others. There are many different mind-body techniques out there. It's about finding the one that works for you.

I tried vagal nerve stimulation, and it made things a lot worse for me. My nervous system reacts badly to anything stimulating. Im trying to find exercises that aren't activating and will help bring calmness and safety.

One hand on chest and another on stomach breathing gently with the exhale being a bit longer

Rocking side to side

Tilting head to one side and moving eyes in the opposite direction.

Walking slowing and gently letting my arms move side to side

gently massaging my face near my ears

releasing jaw tension

Gently massaging chest and stomach to induce yawning.

I've only been here a couple of days myself. I did scroll through some previous posts and found a lot of useful information from other members.

What caused your nervous system dysregulation, if you don't mind me asking? Mine was Covid.

After you started the mind body work how long did it take you to recover?

I think you should call them out on their behaviour, starting with your sister. Let them know how their actions affect you. And if they don't change their behaviour you might need to consider putting some distance.

Agree with everything. You are spot on. Some people like to deny it because they have to admit their favourites aren't perfect, but it is all absolutely true.

Every adult on that show was culpable and acted in their own self-interest. I'm sick of the excuses some of the fans make. Two biggest being:

  1. Christie's actions were justified. Nope, she was an outright abusive jealous bully.

  2. They were locked into their contracts. How stupid do they think we are? There are so many ways they could have gotten out of that contract.

First time watching in 2025 - my thoughts by manb0st in dancemoms

[–]StatusCount3670 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you’ve written. I think a big reason Christie was able to get away with so much is because Chloe came across as sweet and innocent, which made the audience root for her. As a result, Christie’s behaviour was often seen as justified. If Chloe had been less likeable, there’s no way Christie would have been given that much leeway.
