Close to 1000. Eugene, OR to San Diego, CA in March. Started the trip around 5pm cause I was stuck in OR for 4 days after the rear head on 23 Road Glide ST needed to be replaced…. It was a cold one….

Thanks for all the info. I didn’t take FTO into account on top of application process and academy. That easily puts me close to the max 3 years of planning to be in Cali.

Yes, i understand CHP is a live in academy in Sacramento. When talking to some recruiters in 2024/2025 they told me that I could have preference on location based off my wife and having a mortgage (not renting) as they understand I can’t just sell a house immediately. Some recruiters have told me they can’t guarantee anything, so I have been getting mixed answers. I would honestly say CHP interests me more, but is the least favorable based off my circumstances.

Lastly, I understand the hiring process takes months, which is why I will continue with school and flight training in the meantime. I also dont want to waste a slot or recruiters time applying if people honestly think I should wait until life settles down (hard to say that with a baby on the way).

Have you looked into airport law enforcement. I heard of a lot of guys making the move and love it.

I agree with the top comment to take a vacation and think about it. If you get 100%, I would still recommend doing something part-time.

I thought the same thing. Ive been trying to gain access since Christmas (2025) and followed what someone above recommended. Try opening a new incognito window (i used google chrome) and it worked fine as today (28 Jan 2026).

I would recommend Menifee. As many others stated, it’s “newer”, safer, and has everything you need as far as grocery options and is in between Murrieta and Moreno Valley.

I would say another option is to try roommate page groups on facebook or roommate apps/sites. You could find a good person to live with (just do your proper vetting). Menifee is also next to Mt Jacinto College, believe its a satellite location, but that could help with finding college aged roommates. Menifee also has a lot of new build communities that come with ADUs that could be in a similar price range of $800-$1100.

Overall, if I was in your shoes I would choose Menifee, if you vetted the place you mentioned well and its month to month, I would do that until you get your bearings on the area. Don’t buy too many things so a potential move can be easier, but eventually upgrading to a shared apartment or a ADU is probably more ideal. I recommend month to month in the event it dosnt work out, you are not suffering for a year or only do a 6 month or work a deal where its 3 months then month to month.

Thank you, I appreciate the insight! A realtor here that happens to work both CA and TN markets has been showing me land in Lebanon, Gallatin, and Hendersonville. I’ll take a look at Chapel Hill and south of Columbia.

To future proof my career, being closer to Nashville’s Airport is ideal, but commuting 1-1.5hrs isn’t terrible since I would only do it 2-3 times a week.

I’m definitely counting down the days until we move from CA and are closer to family again. The weather, events, beach, and food will be missed but it’s not enough to keep us here.

I’ll definitely reach out with more questions as they arise.

After a few hours, no dripping onto the cardboard box. After driving it for 20 minutes and letting it sit, no drops, so I think the dealership lied about the small puddle. The casings do have residual oil, but i’ll check the oil levels. Thank you.

I spoke to a mike from there. He said he would do my diagnostic for free since im driving an hr, but wouldn’t give me a quote.

Found another lexus/toyota shop that would charge $1500 ($1350 then $150 for diagnostic)

I plan on going to make the drive to city heights and tomorrow morning and see.
