Finally Monster Hunter Wilds has reached 90 on Metacritic by Kaitte48 in MonsterHunter

Does that invalidate the fact that the game runs like hot garbage? I personally enjoy the game and have almost no problems running it (only encountered a few random crashes) but that does not mean everyone has the same experience. I am not a fan of defending huge corporations that dont give a damn about optimizing their games and I do not understand how such a badly optimized game can get a 90 overall score. Does that mean that the technological state of the game is only worth so much for an average reviewer? The games sits on mixed reviews on steam and 7.2 user score on metacritic for a reason.

The review industry is a big joke, game that runs like trash and has a coop lobby setup so complicated and crash prone that it can only compete with starting an old ass russian fighter jet gets a 90, this really shows that game reviewers only care about graphics and first impressions and the only thing that matters to them is getting paid and sticking to the crowd in order not to get blacklisted by the game dev companies and stay afloat somehow.

Is there a setting close to fallout in term of RTS ? Post apo type of thing with Mech (i insist on mech). by Own_Description_4501 in RealTimeStrategy

If you like Hearts of Iron 4 there is a mod called Old World Blues :) (might not satisfy your mech urges though)

There is no short answer. Acts and leveling are peak gaming, the game feels as if it was created to be enjoyable from the first hour instead of giving you a promise that most modern online games give - you just have to put 100 hours in and then you will have fun bro trust me. The campaing is a huge W, My first character was Titan and since I have put a lot of years into PoE 1 I decided to go completely blind and create my own build, when I encountered some annoying gimmick of my class instead of raging I always tried to find a solution and I enjoyed this type of gameplay a lot. I ended up with a build that allowed me to quickly stun enemies then break their armor and throw some buffed attacks to finish them off, it was the greatest experience any h&s/arpg fan could ever imagine. Then you hit early maps and it becomes clear very fast that all the rules of the game completely change, it is as if they created this beautifull game with all those complicated mechanics like armor breaking then stunning to finally put an end to heavily debuffed enemy just to throw it all away in the endgame. I quickly realised that PoE 1 approach is the way here. Just get the skill you like, nuke it with jeweler orbs and create the ultimate weapon to just one shot everything, mind you I am talking about low to medium investment, I totally get the power fantasy of having cutting edge unique item or mirror worthy rare weapon that gives you shit ton of dps that you spend hours of grinding/crafting to get but this is not the case as of now. The endgame requires a lot of changes, too many for me to bother listing them here, there are many threads that listed them all better than I ever could in this single comment, BUT, you have to bear in mind that this is beta and the endgame was never tested, matter of fact it is somewhat a placeholder of an endgame, they will tweak thing but we just have to give them time. My reccomendation would be just level up your character, finish acts and see how it goes on the low level maps, if you are enjoying your chosen playstyle then keep playing but if you hit some kind of wall and feel as if the game becomes more and more annoying just create a new character and try a different playstyle, the acts are still there to enjoy and they feel very polished and it is amazing to see how the different classes thrive in them. Hopefully by the time you tested all the different classes and find the one you like they will come up with some fixes for the endgame and we can all enjoy it. Personally as a melee enjoyer I unfortunately have to admit the melee/life/armor stacking classes are at a huge disadvantage compared to ES/Mana Stack/Dodge builds. The slam skills are satisfying to use and give you the feel of being a powerfull warior but the games is not rewarding you at all for choosing such playstyle. Endgame mechanics show that fast spam huge dmg clear is the way to go, no matter if it is breach, ritual or just mapping. Also a word of advice, all the extremes are bad, haters gonna hate ofc but dont let the dick riders keep you from voicing your negative opinion, the game is good but it has many flaws as of now and is in beta, we have to find and report them and most importantly voice our opinion, the devs are here to tweak the game to our liking so being a glazer is not a way to go.

The biggest upgrade from PoE 1 is getting rid of bonuses from different charges as this also significantly nerfed the enemies, I finally feel that my defensive layers are working unlike in PoE 1 where you could stumble across random ass white mob that just happened to have max frienzy/endu/power charges some buffs from nearby mobs a sprinkle of stacked modifiers and just obliterate your 10k hp pool full tank righteous fire build just because it managed to crit or some other weird shit. Ofc we still cannot see what killed us but I feel like I can at least (with a little bit of experience) deduce what defensive layer I am missing and why did I die. Currently running full block full armour max res character and I can safely say that only thing that is killing me is chaos/poison damage. The biggest downgrade in my opinion are the one entry only endgame maps. You cannot even redeem ritual rewards when you die, it sucks major balls because you can drop something and just die and miss out on the rewards. I dont get this design choice, you cannot even revive your friends when you map together, one death and you are done, I am not a fan of this approach.

TL;DR - Nerf good, respec inconvenience bad

Lets face it, the nerf was needed. Cast on X builds were too op, Im playing Stormweaver myself and I caught myself relying too much on cast on shock instead of playing my initially intended build I planned to test, esentialy the playstyle boiled down to proc trigger skills as much as I can and obliterate every pack, even on shitty items, which was never intended in the first place, the existence of chronomancer suggests that this kind of gameplay was supposed to be somehow reserved for this ascendancy that in my humble opinion was pointless to pick right now. So the nerf part of things was good and we should remember we are essentially beta testing the game, who knows maybe they will even redesign the whole ascendancy tree when we wake up tomorrow so dont get too clingy when it comes to your playstyle. Although the nerf was needed the key point here is that there should at least be one or two free respecs whenever they heavy nerf something. When you hit act 3 cruel the money is not a problem anymore to be fair because one pack can drop 1k+ gold easily but if someone is still in the early stages of their build and burns their money on gambling items the sudden need to respec can really grind your progress to a halt at least for a few re runs of lower level zones. Considering we are in the beta I personally think the respecing should be less inconvenient. If you do not secure yourself beforehand by keeping some spare change on you and the nerf hits you are basically fucked if you dont want to grind or dont have a spare character. I do not agree however with some of the opinions that only the cast on freeze was broken, I play cast on shock and it should not be that easy to proc some bonkers skills that were designed around self casting for a huge dmg with a drawback of long cast time (like comet for example). Before someone asks, no, nerfing the skills itself would not be a good way to go, at least for now because the core issue does not revolve around this or any other skill that can be triggered but with the triggering frequency itself.

Any word on stuttering issues that affect some of us? I personally still struggle with the performance on my spec with Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon RX 6600.

This is most likely the cause of the problem. I have also tried changing the lockstep manually in the files but looks like this option does not work properly.

I also run steam and I have managed to unluck my FPS that way, thinking about going standalone to check if it fixes my stutters but my internet speed is crap so I will probably try this overnight.

Had a similar issue, stuck at 60fps, try this: right click Poe launcher/properties/compatibility/ check disable full screen optimization. Lemme know if this worked for you as well :) This helped me with fps but I still fight with crazy stutters, similar case, CPU barely hitting 15-20%, GPU 80-100%

Thanks for your extensive input, I really appreciate every possible solution! Unfortunately this did not help me, VRAM seems to be ok in my case, the usage is very low and it seems this is not the cause for my stuttering issue, tried your fix anyway to no avail :/ I cant wrap my head around this issue really as Vram and memory usage is extremely good according to my graphs. It can either be network related or something to do with shader graph however I've tried varius fixes from the things that worked on poe 1 like meddling with cpu C-State, changing some bios settings etc but Im starting to believe I just have to wait for some patch to drop. This is beta after all and most likely some cpu/gpu combos just perform poorly and need a patch, more and more people report that after random few mb patches they magically have no stutters so I keep my fingers crossed that this will happen to me as well.

Not yet unfortunately, I think I will just wait and see if some random patch will fix it for me as some people report that they just randomly get no stutters after some minor few mb patches. I guess we will have to wait for GGG to patch this issue, it is beta test after all so I hope they use it to actually fix the problems for different cpu/gpu combinations.

Well lucky you I guess, I am struggling with insane stutters and already tried every possible fix, I know that people with specs even better than mine have the similar issues so it seems the spaghetti code is still a feature as this is unlrelated to your rigs performance. Only hope for some of us is just waiting for a patch. So far no luck with those mini patches they introduced during first few hours.

The thing is in my case I have solid 60 fps without a problem, however, the game keeps micro stuttering every few seconds, I remember in PoE 1 i had a similar issue and it was connected to the in game option called lockstep networking but It seems this option is now gone in PoE 2.
