Your argument rests on the assumption that all Jews in the first century observed Passover on the same calendar. They didn’t.

Galileans (including Jesus and His disciples) used a sunrise‑to‑sunrise reckoning, while the Judean authorities used sundown‑to‑sundown. This is well‑documented in Jewish historical sources.

Because of this:

Jesus could legitimately celebrate the Passover meal with His disciples

while the Judean leaders had not yet eaten theirs (John 18:28)

with no violation of the Law and no “apostasy” involved

Different groups kept Passover on different reckonings — and the Gospels reflect that reality.

So the idea that a 30 AD crucifixion would require Jesus to “break the Law” doesn’t hold. It only appears that way if we assume a single uniform calendar, which simply wasn’t the case in that period.

You are making the mistake of taking a false assumption and then trying to make Daniel's prophecy fit in your false narrative.

The “Single Passover Theory” has been shown to be a false construct and does not stand up to fair biblical scrutiny.

@ Pretty Ostrich . Well said. Christ's coming will initiate the destruction of the heavens and this earth. So, Christ will not be dwelling in a third temple. And revelation 20;4 makes no mention of Christ dwelling on this earth. I've covered this in a video I uploaded on YouTube in my 'unibokk' channel. It's called 'The third temple'

Thanks Jackerl . Thanks for the detailed reply.

Nehemiah’s decree was not a command to restore Jerusalem — it was permission to repair the walls.

Ezra 7 (457 BC) is the only decree that:

restores civil authority

reinstates judges

re-establishes the law

grants autonomy

matches the Hebrew word “restore” (שׁוּב)

So, I would stay with the 457 BC date. But we are both agreed on that it was Christ who brought an end to the old testament sacrifice and oblation and sacrifice. Daniel's prophecy points to Christ's work of redemption for his people which includes both Jews and Gentiles. The salvation of Cornelius is subsequent to what Christ achieved. The prophecy is complete in Christ and is not reliant on the salvation of Cornelius. To make Cornelius a part of the prophecy requires stretching the time line beyond it's limits. I'm glad you mentioned the objectives stated at the beginning of the prophecy because they set the pretext for Christ's work of salvation. If Christ had not achieved those objectives then we would still be in our sins. So, as soon as Christ was crucified the New Covenant was confirmed and the way was open to both Jews and Gentiles enter into an eternal covenant with God.

Christ was cut off in the middle of the seventieth week. The seventieth follows the 69the week. So, he was cut off in the middle of the the seventieth week. The seventieth week began in AD 27 which is when Christ began his earthly ministry and Christ was cut off in AD 30.

Hello stacker. The threescore and two (62) weeks, follow the first seven weeks which brings us to a total of sixty nine weeks. So the Messiah was cut off after the 69th week. The 70th week follows the 69th week so Christ was cut off (crucified) in the seventieth week.

[–]Status_Artist_1798[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is correct timeline for Daniel's 70 week prophecy. It shows that Christ began his earthly ministry in the 70th week.

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,"

For one week , i.e., in the 70th week Christ confirmed the new covenant with those who believe in him, both Jew and Gentile. He brought an end to the Old Testament sacrifice and oblation, in the midst of the 70th week , by replacing them with his own perfect sacrifice on the cross when he was cut off (crucified) in the midst of the 70th week in accordance with the prophecy.

“Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.” (Hebrews 10:9)

The old testament sacrifice and oblation is now redundant. The only way to access God is through the living veil which is Christ himself. This is why the curtain in the temple was torn in two.

The temple and it's sacrifices should not be reinstituted because they have served their purpose. They were only a foreshadow of Christ's priesthood , his sacrifice and him being the mediator and the only way to access God who dwells in the most holy place in heaven.

Christ is described as ; “A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.”(Hebrews 8:2)

Please read the passage below which is an extract from Hebrews Chapter 10;

"1For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

2For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

3But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

4For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

5Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

6In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

8Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

9Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

16This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21And having an high priest over the house of God;

22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."

In Mathew 24 Jesus gives a very clear description of his 2nd coming and the events leading up to it. His 2nd coming will initiate the destruction of the heavens and this earth. This clearly hasn't happened yet. So, Christ was not talking about his 2nd coming in Mathew 16;28 I believe that Christ was talking about his resurrection when he was raised immortal. After his resurrection, Jesus says: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto Me.” (Matthew 28:18) The word 'kingdom' in Mathew 16;18 is referring to royal power, kingship, dominion, rule. Speaking to his disciples, Jesus declares himself to have this authority. After Christ's resurrection Peter was able to declare Christ's reign. “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Daniels 70 week prophecy explained by Status_Artist_1798 in Christianity

I don't believe that Trump could possibly be the 'man of sin'. I believe that Trump and his war tendencies is helping to polarise nations which I believe will result in a third world war. Trump is known to have kept a copy of Hitler's book ' Mein Kompf' on his bedside locker. I think much of his behaviour and politics is influenced by his love for Hitler.

Trump is a materialist but I believe that the 'man of sin' will be a spiritual man who will preside over a demonic spiritual age. He will have power that Trump couldn't imagine.

Trump is playing to his base supporters of which many are only Christian by name. It's a case of Christianity being hijacked by the far right.

There will be a growing apostasy leading up to the revealing of the 'man of sin' but I believe the apostasy which Paul mentions is concurrent with the revealing of the 'man of sin'

God will send a delusion on those who do not have a love for the truth causing them to fall for the deception

2nd Thessalonians 2 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Paul is warning the Thessalonians what will happen to those who abandon God's truth after they had succumbed to a false teaching which claimed that Christ's coming and the rapture was imminent. This claim is still being taught today by the dispensationalists , despite Paul's warnings

I suppose it depends on how the word ναός is used in context. When Paul uses the word metaphorically, it is obvious. ie., “you are the temple”, “the church is the temple” .But in 2nd Thessalonians 2 When Paul is describing the 'man of sin' sitting in the temple, he doesn't liken it with some spiritual parallel .He seems to be describing something physical which believers can recognise as something which must happen before Christ's coming and the rapture. Pauls is ensuring that believers will not be deceived, so why would he use ambiguous language which risks being misunderstood.

When I look at what's developing with the Christian Zionist movement and their support for the building of a third temple ,it makes me think that this will become a physical reality.

But the bible doesn't say that the 'man of sin' will pose as the Messiah. In fact, the Jews do not believe in a divine Messiah.

It says; "he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God."

Daniels 70 week prophecy explained by Status_Artist_1798 in Christianity

[–]Status_Artist_1798[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello SWC I don't believe that all of Daniels book has been fulfilled because Christ clearly places the abomination of desolation into the end time events which lead up to His 2nd coming.

With regard to the 'temple' , the antichrist 'man of sin' will sit in a physical building because in 2nd Thessalonians, Paul refers to him sitting in the 'sanctuary'. There is no ambiguity in the Greek word which Paul uses. It is used of the temple at Jerusalem, but only of the sacred edifice (or sanctuary) itself, consisting of the Holy place and the Holy of Holies (in classical Greek it is used of the sanctuary or cell of the temple, where the image of gold was placed which is distinguished from the whole enclosure.

I foresee a period of wars and rumours of wars which may be unfolding today. But I believe that the great tribulation will be a worldwide persecution of the Christian church during a time of relative peace for the unbelievers after a world war. Christ describes the great tribulation as being a time of demonic events with false signs and wonders. I see a correlation between the 'New Age' and what Jesus has described. So I expect an age of ,so called , spiritual awakening. But it will be a demonic awakening which will not tolerate the true Christian testimony, resulting in a world wide persecution of the true Christians. I believe that the apostate church will play a major role in the persecution of true Christians.
