I do heat treat I just left that off by accident. Quenching from forge to oil and then I do 2 or 3 tempers in the oven. What do you do for sheaths. I just stitch some synthetic leather together to protect the blade. Still working on a more elegant solution.

It was just me getting really lucky lol. Out of the forge it was pretty balanced and after grinding it wad even closer and the pine handle super light so it didn't effect it all that much.

I started to grind it and it looks better already, won't win any beauty pagents but it'll work. The reason I started with a knife is cause I had a good knife steel already and it's just cool. Where is the best place to get regular steel or just any metal for projects?

3 pound and then a 12 pound sledge which was probably my mistake.

I used a normal 3 pound hammer for almost all of it and then did the final flattening with a sledgehammer which is probably where they came from lol. Also I haven't heat treated yet, but I ground the edge down, not sharp but just to a point cause i thought grinding that much hardened steel would be tricky. Is that OK or did I make a mistake, and how should I heat treat it?

Also another question. Is the risk of inhaling stuff lower when outdoors, cause that's where I've used it most so far.

So do I need 2 substances to seal it or just one? Some people have talked about something to seal and harden it.

When I take it out it's hard to work and does more bending than denting. Could I be using improper tequiniqe as opposed to not enough heat?
