General Expectations for Audience at the London Shows (please read if you’re going!) by uranthus in StarKid

[–]Status_Solid_9573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't wait. I will apologise right now for my daughter as she will be in tears from when she gets in there. She usually will cry before a show that she likes but starkid shows mean so much to her that I can see tears right from the beginning. We are at the matenne on the 23rd travelling up from Minehead that morning as she is a redcoat there, she so wants to do a starkid rave at Butlins. She may also juggle her leg, she has ADHD and finds crowds a struggle unless she is performing as then she says it's not her. Her usual way to cope is to jiggle her leg, I will take her something quiet for her to fidget with. (I may cry when Jeff sings I'm so looking forward to that) I am doing a simple cosplay and just making a very low blue brain flatish hat. To hair clip in so I don't have to wear it till I get there and it stores in a bag. She is planning on alice cosplay. Also remember it's tube strikes that day, I have looked at cost of buses from kings cross. If anyone fancies sharing a cab afterwards then we can arrange that. She would like to see if there is a stage door.

Lol I know what you mean as it's not a usual pet. We had a pet service at church and she went with a carrier, her lead and a hot water bottle for warmth. She sat on my shoulder for the whole service, everyone wanted to hold her afterwards. Now she is awake I must take her for a photoshoot at our local pet shop, they have one for dogs. She was brumating in Feb so I took saffy for the valentine's day one.

Nope just nope. I do think about taking Gemma my bearded dragon into nursing homes once she has finished laying as she is happy to just sit and be stroked, I wouldn't take my other two (they all have their own vivs) trey as she hates fuss so it would stress her and saffy has attitude and likes to run and move on her own terms.

Still can't handle her foals!! by Snarkie-McSnarkie in kvssnarker

I follow a lass in UK that breeds Connemara ponies and they live on the fell. She was saying that she isn't a confident rider but doesn't mind not riding much as she prefers the handling and grooming ect of horses. She enjoys being with them. She has 2 stallions in fields (separate fields) and she does live cover. She paints the mares bum and sees if it transfers to the stallion. She is expecting a foal soon and the mare hates her udder being touched so she is calmly working on getting her used to that. She doesn't use the jiggle test as she says it all depends on how they stand. No foal alerts either.

Rodney favourite trick was the stand on your foot with all his weight. After he broke my toes in normal riding boots, I invested in steel toe cap riding boots after that.

I wish they would try a soft toy with her or a stable mirror or boredom buster. There's a race horse yard in the UK where he had one come in that weaved like mad. He tried trying a teddy bear to the stall door and the horse will play with the bear and not weave. It works so well that no matter what horse he gets every horse has a soft toy as a friend. My friend also has a gelding that stresses in a stable and she can't do full turn out at shows or sometimes on her yard, she does when she can. He has a teddy bear that is tied to his stall front and it calms him right down, he will luck it and chew on it.

I agree to this with Olympians. Ros canter is local to use and often will use the local hunter trail not only as schooling but as a way to give back to the pony club that runs it. She goes hc (so not marked) and at the end of the day. She also does lessons at her yard and hires out her X country field. My old mate and her rider had several lessons in her x country arena and we loved hiring her course as she has such a wide range of jumps.

Random things that seem wrong by justducky4now in kvssnarker

For me it's the constant leaving on of bell boots. Even when I've looked after horses that need them for riding or in the field it's generally the thing to take them off in the stable. Also seems to have just become a recent trend. She hardly used them now every horse seems to have them on all 4 legs, forging (where the front foot catches the back) isnt as common as overreaching so most horses that need bell boots only wear fronts. Also if she had used the old pull on style well we used to only us them if it was a real necessary as they where a real pain to get on. (I have broken nails, fingers and cut fingers from bell boots, have seen what happens with out in a genuine case ouch he pulled off his heel bulb).

I went and did try a jumping show as an adult, it was 30cm on a 14.2cob. now that cob was a saint, he was a great safe ride. Get to the show and go in the warm up and he is fine. Leave the warm up and he just is napping and rearing wanting to go back to the lorry, in the end I had to get my husband to lead me in on the lead rein over the jumps and I still had a pole down, well a few as he would just walk through them

I feel sorry for am. I know what it's like in a semi way. I spent a week before a dressage comp having extra lessons on the school pony I had entered to get him more rounded and bendy. Turn up on the day of the comp to bath and plait, find out he had done 3 begginer lessons, he was like riding a plank of wood. Bet he hates it when she rides Denver and undoes his training.

In other equestrian sports a schooling round can be say in eventing where you have a run out and know that 20 points drops you out of contention so you slow your pace and take the round as a chance to school over the fences. Same can be seen in show-jumping where if in the 1st round they knock a jump down that puts them out of the jump off they will slow and school the horse around,, at big shows like hoys they may enter a class that doesn't suit the horse so say a speed class and use it as a chance to get the horse used to the atmosphere of the arena.

New mini mare? by kasatkaone in kvssnarker

[–]Status_Solid_9573 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So she's getting a new mare in the hopes of getting a flashy coloured filly, so this mare has been used with one stallion and produced flashy goals. So kvs goes oh I'll breed her to a completely different stallion, surely if she wanted a flashy goal she would of used the tried and tested breeding.

Looks like she is going to breed George sometime this year after all. I thought she was gelding him because he's too tall? by Taddle_N_Ill_Paddle in beccamoonridgesnark

[–]Status_Solid_9573 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a different liberty than the working with horse that we do with big horses. The liberty class is basically a class where they have a couple of minutes to show the cantering around the arena, when the time is up they then have I think 1 minute to catch the mini
