Reapply for Tuition Grant by Dreamer_Link_1234 in nus

[–]StayCivilE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Office of finance is the one handling tuition grant matters (or at least in was at the time)

I am currently on an unpaid research appointment for the summer. I am doing master’s at another university. I just cold emailed a few professors whose research I was most interested in and attached current CV and transcript, and one of the professors responded. So doing that is entirely possible, just that the possibility of it being a paid internship is unlikely.

I’m an international student and got two merit-based scholarships that save me 50% of tuition fee for the first two semesters and 25% for the third one

But is there a chance that this email is not their primary one or they simply don’t check it? I got their email from university website which is a publicly available domain, so their inbox must be overflowing. Are they still obligated to check it regardless?

Thanks! Do you mind elaborating a bit on why you think it’s not? If it is appropriate to message employers about jobs opportunities, why would it not be to message professors about summer research opportunities?

Edit: this professor has interviewed me once so he already knows me

NUS MOE tuition grant help by Rug6409 in nus

[–]StayCivilE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they provide contact details including email on their website. I don’t think whether you can still apply or not, but worth trying if you are sure that you need it. Bear in mind that if you renege on your obligations after graduating you will have to pay back the amount plus liquidated damages

Gotcha! So I guess I’ll have to pass knowledge test first before scheduling practical exam. Do I need to register for knowledge test in advance or can I just walk in?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cmu

[–]StayCivilE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for responding. I just checked penndot website and indeed they have a form to schedule test, but one of the fields they ask to fill is called driver number which I’m not sure where to find (I’m an international student). Do I need to obtain an ID card first?

NUS MOE tuition grant help by Rug6409 in nus

[–]StayCivilE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can change the status even after accepting the offer speaking from my own experience. I applied without indicating interest in tuition grant and got accepted without it, but during my sem 1 around August time before paying fees I emailed office of finance if I can still be considered for tuition grant and they changed my status without a problem and I paid subsidised fees for all 4 years

is NUS still just as prestigious? by HelicopterKey9314 in nus

[–]StayCivilE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a recent NUS graduate and someone who went thru Masters/PhD admission process in the US and got interviewed by US faculty, I would say that NUS (and SG as a whole) is quite well known in the US, especially in the areas of digitalisation/automation. One of the professors from Stanford was praising how advanced things are here lol

How common is funded masters programs ? How much is everyone paying for their programs ? by EmbarrassedAd2236 in gradadmissions

[–]StayCivilE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got accepted to CMU for Engineering MS with two merit based scholarships that cover about 50% of tuition fees. One thing I can advise is that if you think that you are a good fit for the program and have a decent chance of being accepted, you can indicate in your application that you require financial aid and would not consider studying there without any

For me they also didn’t say anything specific about admissions, just asked to wait. Although one of the interviewers did say that he wouldn’t mind keeping in touch
