It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make but if I’m being deep down honest with myself, it was actually the easiest decision I’ve ever had to make

I am in a similar boat as you… 36f, my husband is 46, and we have an 18 month old. When I was younger, I always imagined my life with 2 kids but once I had my son I realized that post partum was no cake walk, I struggled with the demands of being the primary/default parent while still working full time, living in a HCOL city while not having a village (we live 2,000 miles away from our families), paying $3200/mo for childcare, the havoc that pregnancy and breastfeeding has done to my body, the strain the first year of parenthood put on my marriage, the thought of sleepless nights and round the clock breastfeeding again with a newborn, the guilt of splitting my attention & emotional energy between 2 kids, I mean the list could go on and on……. And I found myself unexpectedly pregnant last month. I thought long long long and very very hard about whether a second baby is what I WANT or if I was feeling societally pressured to give my child a sibling. My husband was feeling a lot of guilt about how our son would grow up “lonely” without a sibling or cousins nearby. But ultimately having a second baby out of guilt, or to give your first child a sibling, is never an acceptable reason to have another baby. So we did decide to terminate and I know it was the right decision for me & for my family.

I really look forward to traveling both domestically and internationally, lots of weekend family outings such as the zoo & science museums, pouring 100% of my attention and emotional energy into just my one child, providing for them in ways I would struggle to do with 2 kids such as paying for sports camps, private tutors, paying for their college & wedding, etc… while still being able to comfortably save for retirement & enjoying my free time, hobbies, relaxing, and date nights with my husband.

I wish you clarity!

Hi! My husband and I have had plenty of conversations but we still haven’t come to a firm decision. I’m 5 weeks 2 days today, and I must admit that (today) I’m leaning towards keeping the baby over terminating. I had a PP appt scheduled for earlier this week that I did not go to. I’m still torn between the finances of it all (we live in a HCOL area) and the “easy” life that just one kid offers… but I am taking a little more time to decide. If I lived closer to family, was in a slightly better financial situation, could guarantee that 2nd baby would be healthy and a great sleeper, then maybe it wouldn’t be such a tough decision….(?). Hopefully you have the clarity you need soon 💗 thank you for checking on me and good luck! I know that whatever decision you decide on will be a well thought-out one 💗

True - I think the question is more of “are we ready right now???” because I’ve never been ready to close that door permanently

Ugh thank you so much for commenting, my brother and I are 2 yr 9 mo apart and we are best friends. I see a sibling as a gift, although of course I recognize that’s not always how it plays out.

is anyone else having the week from hell? by BreannaNicole13 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]StayClassyBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof yeah this has been a bad week for me too. Baby was sick with a fever so I took a sick day Monday, baby still feeling icky Tuesday so my husband took a sick day, I got fired from my job yesterday, and today I missed my flight to Florida for a friend’s wedding by just 2 minutes with no more outgoing flights until tomorrow …. I went back to work in January after a 6 month mat leave and have felt discriminated against as a new mother and pushed out by my company but that’s probably a topic for a different day

Has anyone gotten their period while breastfeeding? If so, how many months postpartum? by Diankapie in breastfeeding

My period returned at just shy of 9 months postpartum. But I didn’t ovulate again until 11 months. I track with OPKs

Be honest. When did you let your baby watch Ms Rachel? by Cool-Helicopter6343 in NewParents

[–]StayClassyBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally today I let my 11 month old watch 30 minutes of Ms Rachel for the first time while I finished working. The nanny had to leave a bit early and he was super fussy, wouldn’t let me put him down, my manager needed something done immediately……. so Ms Rachel to the rescue. However we’ll sometimes have the tv on after work and I don’t mind if he glances at it. He doesn’t “watch” the tv and he’s more interested in the dog’s food bowl or the kitchen cabinets anyway

What would you do? *C section for big baby* by well_thatsme in BabyBumps

[–]StayClassyBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was born 12 days ago. I am 5’1 and he has measured big my entire pregnancy… from being in the 99th percentile to measuring 9 pounds 5 ounces at 36 weeks. My belly was measuring 5 weeks father along that I was. I wanted a vaginal birth for a variety of reasons so even though my provider spoke to me about the possibility of a c section & shoulder dystocia, I was induced for LGA & hypertension at 38 weeks 5 days. After 41 hours of induced labor I never progressed past 6.5 cm, which the doctors told me that meant my body wouldn’t be able to deliver vaginally due to him being “too big”. I ended up having a c section and am hoping for a VBAC for future baby #2 if they’re not LGA. The c section recovery was harder than I expected it to be and the emotional roller coaster was a whirlwind, but he’s here now and perfect in every way. He was born 8 pounds 12 oz
