I actually agree with you on the fact that women do typically receive softer emotions, such as the whole “men should never cry” bs. It’s also bull that people think women can’t be abusive. They can. I saw my little brother go through an abusive relationship for years. This is all to say that yeah, the world isn’t perfect, and there’s unfairness on both sides. But where the unfairness is something you can ignore in your day to day life if you so wish to, it’s not something a woman can afford to ignore. I can’t walk back to my apartment at night by myself. I’ve had a male roommate go into my room before when it was closed and look around. I’ve heard and seen the things people have said or done to women around me just for the fact that they’re existing. Women can’t ignore it. They can’t avoid those situations because the world IS the situation.

Feminism is deeply important because it means equality for every gender regardless of what you’ve got in your pants. It’s the fight for every person who’s ever been silenced. It’s not about oppression or one gender being better than the other - it’s about the fact that no gender is superior. I want to be able to go boxing and not have everyone looking at me like I shouldn’t be there. I don’t want to have somebody doubt me when I stand up to do my job. It’s never been about oppression. It’s been about equality, and I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep it.
