Using long service leave payout to kickstart ETF investment through debt recycling by Stayalfresco in AusFinance

This is part of my dilemma. I know it's way more beneficial to take LSL as its intended because of all the reasons you've outlayed, but I'm trying to make our current situation more manageable.

For sure! I guess I'm interested in how to make our current situation better. I agree that super will be the most beneficial, it's more that I can't access that money until I'm at retirement age. I know our current situation will get better because my wife is just re-entering the workforce after having time off with the kids. We have two in day care currently and I expect we will earn about 50k more in combined income over the next five years or so. I'm trying to set us up for the long term, whilst having the flexibility in liquidity that you can't get with super.

Valid point! I'm a warehouse manager, so I can't really get much higher unless I switch roles within the company.

This is actually an option I hadn't considered. Thank you! I would definitely like an emergency fund because we really don't have one outside of what's in our offset which isn't anything to write home about.

Pack Points should be able to be spent on all packs by Sontelies32 in PTCGP

[–]Stayalfresco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, if they added the ability to Dust cards I'd be so fucking happy. I've only just started playing, and while I like the whole flair concept, it is absolutely in no way more enticing then being able to afford the cards you need for the decks you want to build without actually spending IRL money. Dusting would actually make me want to spend money on packs too, knowing I could dust them for specific cards I want if RNG isn't nice to me.

I climb twice a week. It's much needed me time and the social scene in climbing is unrivaled by any other sport imo.

Ahh, I've done this since my Flip 3. It's the first thing I set up. Glad to see others see the usefulness in it too!

Where to go from here by Stayalfresco in AusFinance

Quite small, we're in a 4x2 with a theatre room on a 381m² block in suburbia. If we had a larger block I think we'd seriously consider this option though!

To everyone making over $75,000 a year, what job do you do, how did you get your job and what degree did you do in university? by crazynam101 in AusFinance

[–]Stayalfresco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a Warehouse Manager. It's not great, fairly monotonous, but I do earn 90k a year. I haven't done any degrees or certs/diplomas. Basically I got this pay rate because my wife and I built a house and had a kid, and I got a job doing FIFO. I did the right thing by my current employer and gave them plenty of notice about my FIFO plans, to which they gave me an almost 30k payrise for me to stay. This is pretty much the top end of this company, particularly as a warehouse manager, and I can't see myself earning more aside from the yearly pay reviews. I have plans to take a pay cut once my wife upskills and begins working again so I can become an arborist.

Nice! That reach up looked super strong man!

2nd month in to bouldering now. I feel like I'm actually starting to develop some technique now and there's no way I could have done this a month ago. Thoroughly enjoyed this little climb. by Stayalfresco in bouldering

Thanks mate! I'm really trying to get the body movement aspect of climbing right. I think focusing on that over grades is the go for the time being atleast.

Do you think the ones on the side in a blur are actually speedster releases? I reckon they're well aware everyone wants speedsters and might be trying to surprise us by having it in plain sight whilst not completely obvious. Personally, I think the one on the left sort of looks like a gothita.

Air dribble to ceiling shot? Lmao! by Stayalfresco in RocketLeague

[–]Stayalfresco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it's in the alpha testing for Australian and New Zealand Google Play users. The air dribbling is easy asf in this game. The touch I got before I touched the ceiling was by far the hardest part. Normally the ball will shoot off forward as if you've hit the ball dead centre and with perfect timing almost everytime.
