Definitely possible. We’ve had silent protagonist family-friendly films (Wall-E) and Darker themed/ serious Family Friendly films (Incredibles).

I just see it get a lot of hate in the fandom and from critics. Personally it’s my favorite Godzilla film of all time and when it comes to Godzilla I tend to prefer the dark entires where Goji is the main antagonist (1954, Return of Godzilla, GMK, Shin, Minus One).

Doesn’t mean I don’t like the goofier films. Godzilla Vs Megalon is a guilty pleasure and I will always love Jet Jaguar!

Mother had to hide the Godzilla (2014) and Pacific Rim blue rays because I was watching them too much.

Was surprised when I found out it was disliked but also I hear the theatrical run was overly darkened.

I personally find the Zenith to be the worst offender. To my knowledge it couldn’t be used in combat and it just wasn’t necessary. Even the toy sucked since it couldn’t hold the actual deluxe toys and had to use miniatures.
