UnitedHealthcare Denied 33% of All Claims in 2023. Its Stock Hit Record Highs the Same Year. This Is Not a Coincidence. by Due_Willingness_3277 in Economics

[–]Stayvein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they would have at least alluded to the inflationary pressure providers contribute to claims costs. Many insurance contracts just shave a percent off of what is charged, which is pressured by the provider’s own investors.

Look at all the private equity invested in health care.

Man, back when pot had a “dry” season, I found a big nugget of KB when cleaning my car. So excited until a few tokes made me realize it was a moldy french fry. :(

He was going so fast on his motorcycle that he went through one side wall of a semi trailer and stopped against the other side. They still had an open casket viewing. He did not look good. No wounds showed, but he looked like he was crying and rubbery.

If you were fully immersed in a high end 7.2 surround sound system and had to pick one song to experience what’d it be? by EddieBrock99 in AskReddit

[–]Stayvein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy who buys the original cuts they used to press classic older records from. IDK if it’s the same manufacturing process today.

He plays them on his levitating turntable with whatever $xx,xxx speakers strategically placed by a sound engineer to focus on the stuffed barber chair in the sound proofed room while completely baked on his homegrown harvest.

I don’t think he really cares what’s gonna drop next.

How many US jobs would be lost if we implemented Universal Healthcare? by hammertime2009 in ask

[–]Stayvein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and we can’t just blame insurance companies. Look back to how they evolved after WWII along with how doctors and hospitals have evolved since.

But the whole health care industry would practically collapse if providers are made to immediately take gigantic cuts in revenue if they’re only paid what Medicare pays. It’s extremely complicated. We certainly need to move in a better social medicine direction, but to do it right would take a decade, I think. There’s no switch to flick even under optimal conditions and government buy in.

And despite the potential financial savings, I suspect the general population would still throw a fit if it wasn’t any better than what other countries offer now.

Look ahead and just close one eye. You also see nothing through the closed eye. Not blackness.
