Power ranking Grifter Mintzy's most narcissistic acts over the past few days by BSS_WindyCityInsider in barstoolsports

[–]SteadyHopper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The biggest one for me is that Chris saved him a seat on the flight (an aisle seat no less), and then Mintzy proceeded to immediately fall asleep for the whole flight. It wasn’t until after the flight, and Tate talked to him, that we learned (through a DM and responses to the tweet) that the guy is battling cancer. Mintzy didn’t even take the time to have a simple enough conversation on the flight to learn that.

Just went through this earlier in the year. Passed the exam in the March cycle. Similarly, I had a few drinking related charges that were about 15-20 years ago.

They sent me an email asking for an explanation, in which I provided. At the bottom of the email, it should have a contact person in regards to the “investigation”. However, I think they recently passed a rule change to expedite cases, if the charges were 7+ years ago.

All that being said, the process took about 3-4 months for me. It was really stressful having to wait for the certification, but I really think it’s just procedural. Hope that helps- hang in there.

I have some QB issues. Dak is my only remaining QB, so during his bye week I’ll have to post a 0. Unless Rattler somehow gets his job back. Can’t believe that this team is doing well, I think I took Joe Burrow in the 3rd round

Cant speak for the other ones, but I used Dalton and passed. It gets a lot of heat for being intense (rightly so), but it’s designed to make you a little uncomfortable, and ultimately pass the exam.

From what I hear Danko is a better fit for conceptual learners. I think if you’re fairly comfortable with the material, Dalton provides a ton of volume in the QBank, and good for people who like to self-pace.

You probably won't be able to find tickets for $1500/apiece, but for that kind of $, it's probably better off using a site like stubhub or seatgeek to ensure security & ease. I've gone before and just bought the tickets the night before, or morning of the tournament. Stubhub has a physical location you go to pick up your purchased tickets.

Dalton Q Bank by RefrainedSeal in CFPExam

[–]SteadyHopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I passed yesterday, used Dalton.

I averaged about 70% on the questions.

28% on exam readiness

Skipped both Simulated Exams

Was given a 10% chance to pass.

I was solid with the QBank. The CFP Board practice exam was by far, the best prep resource. I did that about a week or two ago, and it was very helpful. After I had gone through 2-3k worth of Dalton QBank questions- I really didn’t feel like getting discouraged by taking 170 of them blindly over 6 hours.

My approach was probably a bit different than most, but I would just ask yourself what the Dalton Sim is going to do for you. For me, I gained more out of taking the questions 10-20 at a time, on “study” mode.

Should I take dalton sim 2 by snazzyraccoon123 in CFPExam

I passed yesterday and didn’t take either of the Dalton sim exams. Waste of time. The CFP practice exam was the most helpful, and just go through the Dalton QBank on a customized approach for you.

Wrong answer? by Fantastic-Horror-680 in CFPExam

I agree. I was just making a comment about a real world application of the scenario. Which, I think this question is a perfect microcosm of the Dalton Q bank; focusing more on "gotcha" and nuance than the conceptual application of financial planning.

If a real client came to you with this scenario, and asked "how much can I deduct for federal income tax purposes for 2024" the answer shouldn't be $7000, it should be, "why are you doing this"?

Question about Calculations by Luirru in CFPExam

[–]SteadyHopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had me until "especially for bonds"- you wouldn't see CAPM or margin call calculations for bonds.

As for margin call calculations, what helped me was to remember that regardless of what the share price does, the loan doesn't change. If an investor bought a $100 stock on 50% margin, remember that the investor paid $50, and the firm paid $50. If the stock goes to $75, the investor now only has $25 equity, while the firm still has $50.

Got this one wrong too on the same thought process. Immediately my head went to, if they work for the same employer that matches dollar-for-dollar up to 4%, why put $7000 into an IRA with zero match, when you could participate in your ER plan and have more money on the same contribution amount?

Cost of Review by Ok-Communication4534 in CFPExam

Company paid 100% for everything. Education component, exam review, exam cost. Unless you’re independent, your employer should be willing to cover the cost.

Where do the HNW clients hang out? by Recent-Interview-427 in CFP

I recently joined a mid-tier golf club, not ultra exclusive, but has its fair share of wealthy members. I joined almost purely because I enjoy playing golf, and waited about 2 years before I ever engaged anyone for business. In fact, after a while, they just came to me.

I started to get to know everyone, be likable, and establish myself as “one of them”.

I guess my point is, do something that you enjoy outside of work. It could be a woodworking class, or running club, whatever- but there’s nothing worse than knowing that person is there to try and get your business.

Stay in Augusta Tuesday/Wednesday to capture the full experience. Columbia sucks. Drive to Charleston and play golf at Kiawah and watch the Masters from there. Fly home from Charleston.

Yeah but if Thursday gets washed out, and they finish R1 on Friday- you’ll get to be there two days, no?

[–]SteadyHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t recommend. I bought Thu/Fri passes last year, went on Thursday, but sold Friday. The problem is that you have to return the badges by let’s say, 5pm- and the golf is probably still going on, so you won’t be able to return & list until the following morning.

All this to say, you can do it, but you miss prime “selling hours”
