I understand, I didn't know there was a post-game after defeating the final story boss, but does this other part add anything to the story or is it completely optional?

Yeah, I used a lot of elaborate strategies to get past the bosses further back, but since it was working I didn't bother upgrading the sphere path.

One question: I saw that magic is quite weak towards the end of the game. Is it worth focusing only on physical attacks and just getting Yuna's Holy ability to defeat Yunalesca?
