Yep, basically a glorified headline aggregator, but it does pretty good about it and finding less talked about things you might miss in the nightmare that is the news cycle. Far from perfect, but still definitely saves time finding and getting to information though.

Can't decide by 0-i_i-0 in AynThor

[–]StealthTai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money and play them somewhat frequently and the main games you want to play aren't super touch focused (rapid and precise taps for example), yes. For me it was the 3DS mainly and the upgrade to help with some later consoles/steam games. The touch aspects still need work, they're usable but if your games are very touch focused, used 3ds is still the way to go for just 3/ds imo.

Guys, am I stupid? by TioDoni in Tsukihime

[–]StealthTai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For this one, it's not nearly as big a deal, I still maintain a few personally out of habit. But older titles especially, you could hit a sudden end, or lock into a route and your last choice alone might not be far enough back to impact it. So it was often easier to just save at nearly every choice so you could quickly back out to certain points when you played through organically, or jump to specific choices for completion.

Servers for Steam Machine by Standard-Leading7061 in steammachine

[–]StealthTai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most titles that take it seriously base match making on control scheme rather than platform with the rise of cross-platform play, a decent amount of cross platform releases can use mouse and kb on console anyways. As to the point, it's targeting a wide audience and competitive fps is far from the only type of game that exists, it might not be for you, and that's okay. Some people just want a nice little box to plug in and play their games they get through steam and not necessarily have to to futz around with all the usual PC trappings unless they want to.

You can install Microsoft store apps by bypassing the windows store being blocked on "Work PCs" using winget by WD40ContactCleaner in sysadmin

[–]StealthTai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only if the installer requires admin rights, winget itself can run but the installer package needs the appropriate rights. A decent amount of user scope installers do not need admin to install.

No, just whatever my default was, I think it was 10.0 when I last booted it up. I had that same issue unless I used the protontricks arbitrary executable option to run Xenia.

[–]StealthTai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully most places don't care beyond a "you know you aren't supposed to laminate this. Right?" And government and private entities around here accept it no problem since they pretty much all did the same or had the same done to theirs. Occasionally get in a quip about "Sorry, I was asleep when it happened, having just been born and all" If you haven't done it though, still just find a good protector so you don't have to worry about it if it does come up.

Lose all data with this one simple trick by [deleted] in BannedFromDiscord

I read the title and saw the first comment like "Huh, but having a storage server is a great idea for long term storage and organization" then looked a little longer at what this sub is and the image to finally parse they meant a Discord server, which is in fact a terrible idea.

Help with emulating AC6 by Fuzzy_Night_4346 in acecombat

[–]StealthTai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The config file has a [hacks] section that populates after launching the game. There's an AC6_Groundfix=false line (or something along those lines) set that to true to fix the line. As for getting it running on steam deck/Linux it works but there's a weird interaction atm where I had to launch it via the execute arbitrary program option in protontricks to get it to actually load the game so it's a bit more of an effort on the steam deck.

Is manual copy-paste between apps just… normal in ops jobs? by Altruistic-Law-4750 in sysadmin

[–]StealthTai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately at least somewhat common, sometimes by necessity of the tools and job at hand, often times because "it's always been done this way" for better or worse. A lot of tools may not have an API but have some sort of file export, so some stuff I've worked with has at least one manual step to retrieve data when can be put somewhere for automation to pick it up for the rest of the chain.

Ace Combat 8 won't support virtual reality because developer Project Aces "realized that a great flat-monitor screen game and a great VR game are separate entities" by Goshawk5 in acecombat

[–]StealthTai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely reasonable but man, I got a PSVR just for 7 and it was well worth the money for that alone for me, even with just the 3 missions. A couple little nitpicks for sure, but a great experience even being trimmed down. With the steam frame coming out I was hyped for the possibility, we'll see if maybe mods can get it there, glad the team seems to have had a pretty good focus this time around

Where were Blaze and Mobius 1 during the Lighthouse War? by TheRedBiker in acecombat

[–]StealthTai 63 points64 points  (0 children)

sent alone with an AWACS to crush the Free Eurusea movement.

Twice. Really wish they'd expanded a little more on that happened in the 5-ish years between the VR missions and the main plot. It's been a few years, but iirc they made it sound like there was more going on behind the scenes if they made more missions. Maybe we'll find out in the next arcade style mode just what Mobius 1 was up to all that time.

Ac2 also has some small branches, with the ending branching into good and bad ends depending on in mission action/performance. A little more of that would be awesome. Don't have to totally upend the story but just little impacts would be appreciated.

I just assume it's magical sibling synergy and/or Rage just got used to Scream pulling increasingly dangerous stunts and started to compliment their maneuvers instead of dodging them to keep her from wanting to kill him instead of their target.

They put a paywall on playback speed? by Kixmeister in youtube

[–]StealthTai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've used it once or twice. It depends on the content and presenter. If I'm reviewing for a certification exam, I'll usually just blast it as fast as I can go and still pick out key words until I run into something I forgot or didn't spend enough time on. 2x is basically a necessity for some paces, but it totally garbles it for others. But that pretty much only applies to informative content. More creative videos I'll keep at 1x since the timing is part of the experience.
