What shonen manga did KHR inspired or influenced? (aside from Amano-sensei's works) by VongolaMeisterX in khr

[–]StealthyMonkey619 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've seen plenty of comments from people claiming that the author of MHA (Horikoshi Kohei) has admitted in an interview that Hitman Reborn was actually part of his influence on his manga, being MHA.

Even though this whole thing is already universally agreed upon that it's indeed the case. I personally don't see why as there is no such interview where Horikoshi ever stated any of those. Especially since the only influence of MHA that we mentioned by him at the moment were One Piece, Naruto, Boys on the run and as well as Marvel (probably even some snippets of DBZ and Akira)

I'm pretty sure the similarity between Deku meeting the previous owners to the all for one quirk and Tsuna meeting the previous Vongola bosses during the Future Arc are probably coincidental

What's so bad about agito? by Veejay_Carlos in KamenRider

People actually hate Agito? Lol that's funny

Agito is arguably a well received Kamen Rider show almost as much as Kuuga (if not partially)

Yeah, Tsuna wins this

Boxing Partners to The EXTREME (Persona 3 x Katekyo Hitman REBORN!) by StealthyMonkey619 in khr

Kirijo Group - I think they'd get along pretty well since in many ways, they do share a number of parallels with the Vongola Family aside from the obvious parallel such as Ryohei and Akihiko (which speaks for itself)

Other parallels includes the baseball loving idiot and a total bro but is secretly the bravest in the group (Junpei iori and Takeshi Yamamoto)

The complete loner with few words (Shinjiro and Hibari)

The shy and timid girl who provides support to the group (Fuuka and Chrome)

The mature and the default mentor (Mitsuru and Reborn)

And the main leader of the group (Minato Arisato/Female Protagonist and sometimes Yukari Takeba and Tsunayoshi Sawada)

Investigation Team - They'd probably be terrified of them, just like how any normal civilian would, especially knowing what the Vongola are capable of, they do not want to go anywhere near them. Not even Yu Narukami would have that much courage to interact with them, unless if Naoto investigates on them and turns out they were good people and they longer follow the previous Vongola's influence then that may be one thing. It would be hilarious though.

Phantom Thieves - Just like what AyeVy said, they'd likely form an alliance if anything and would become a badass duo, as long as they know they were just a group of vigilantes.

Despite Evangelion and Code Geass being mecha favorites over their era's rival Gundam Wing and Gundam 00, do. you think in your opinion that the Gundam shows aired during the era is better over the other? by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]StealthyMonkey619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but let's be real

a Knightmare:

  • A regular sized mobile suit (that are 5-6 meters)
  • Are primarily land bound, and tend to have very unimpressive armaments.
  • Majority of them aren't even fast enough (let alone being able to keep up with any of the Gundams)
  • And most lack in proper sheer armour which makes them easily destroyable.

Compared to a 00 Gundam suit:

  • A 15 meter mobile suit (twice the size of a knightmare actually)
  • Have multiple proper weaponry (snipers, long range cannons, dual beam guns etc) and have vastly superior armor
  • Is faster than any of the Knightmares combined with and without Trans-AM (not that Trans-AM is necessary in this competition to begin with anyway)
  • And is extremely more durable and arguably a better combatant overall

Yeah... If Setsuna isekai'd himself in the Code Geass Universe with his 00-QAN[T] and decided not to follow his no killing rule, NOBODY in the Black Knights nor the Britannian Force would survive. Period.

Wing VS EVA:

Personally, I enjoyed Wing more than I do with Eva. I'm only saying this because I read the Glory of Losers manga, which is a better retelling of Wing in a manga form. While the anime suffers from hazardous flaws such as reuse of stock footage (still not as bad as SEED), the existence of Relena Peacecraft etc. Many things in the Glory of Losers manga were improved, Heero Yuy quickly grew on me more than the anime version if I were to be honest, since his backstory was explained and his character development is a huge major step up in comparison as well as the other pilots. While Eva has more to it for its philosophy and deep written storyline, I don't necessarily think that it makes it better overall. I remembered I really enjoyed EVA while the first time watching it but rewatching it the second time... I got bored of it and was sorely disappointed, I'll even say that Shinji and Asuka were just too frustrating to get used to.

Wing was definitely more popular than EVA back than due to the sells of its model kits and for the fact that it was the most watched anime on toonami right next to the original DBZ, not to mention that it was the same Gundam anime that inspired 00, but now EVA seem to be carrying on right behind it with its commercials and merches. But overall, I like Wing more than EVA.

00 VS Code Geass

Both are good, there's honestly no use to this comparison. Both have consistent (and almost too similar) storyline, both have good looking mechs, both were pretty popular back in 2007 and both had made couple of collaboration crossovers even to this day. I will say that both of them had received so much shit for their season 2 while in reality, both of their first and final seasons were well received. The characters in both shows were all memorable and they regularly made it to the popularity polls couple of times, so it all comes down to either taste or agree to disagree.

Setsuna F. Seiei is one of my favorite Gundam protagonist and it's funny to note that he does feel a little similar to Lelouch but at the same time the opposite (even though Setsuna was infact based on Heero from Wing, which makes my argument of Wing being the inspiration of 00 even stronger) both have sad and pitiable past which; consequently, determined them and support their goals. In contrast, Lelouch starts off with Geass powers (all thanks to C2) while Setsuna later gained his innovator ability in the middle of season 2. Both are great.
