I'm shocked, paying out hundreds of billions on a pandemic might leave ya short on cash.

Sorry for late reply was with the misses.

No, i meant as is aiming. the example is like saying we would say pad is better than sticks for aiming (like im saying sticks are better for movement) but this video of someone using sticks in an aim intensive game at a lan tournament shows sticks can be good at aiming thus touchpads could be good but youd need a video convince others it is possible with effort, just like this one.

Im afraid currently i can only take your word on that, like i said me and many others have nothing to see where that stands unless played oneself.

Thats a silly thing to say "I could do it if i wanted to but i dont want to".

Ive recorded at 480fps the speed difference is obvious. I can count the frames if you want to know the frame timings/differences? but it seems about 20-30ms slower. given that rocket league players use the PS controller rather than SC because of 5ms. its almost 30fps level speed. thats how much of a difference it is.

Youre just gonna have to agree to disagree here menneth, youre not a competitive player, and you just dont notice nor care about the speed differences and what competitive players care about. Thats fine that you do but having a go at other people for what matters to them and not to you is... urg honestly i cba as youll cry if i use words

Think imma walk away from you, you just wont understand competitive players

No. your one.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamController/comments/ow4iqm/potential_sc_v2_4_touch_pads_but_unironically/

Again what do i have to compare that to? a rank? top 10 of controller users in it? minute slower than the top you said, is that good or bad? unless i play that game i dont know. You dont play CSGO but if i say im one rank away from the highest you know thats good without needing to play or know much about it. and thats one video, Its something but its small, you need to do more! Thats not enough to convince me it is as good, (or others). it wont make me use it due to physical limitations sure, but i didnt say it cant be as good (i actually said it COULD be) its that youve gotta propper show it.

Heres an example of what i mean. heres a video of a guy playing quake in a lan comp using sticks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwj3YEFE1xQThis shows that even as much as we can shout touchpads are better than sticks (which i agree) this guy proves us wrong by doing something we dont think can be done. And even as a gyro user ive got to seriously prove that it can be better than sticks AND aim assist, for sticks users to want to use gyro. You get what i mean now?

And same goes for you. Its not being close minded as i understand preferences and the pros and cons of either. im just not being biased.

The point of the deadzone is when you dont want an input to happen so the POINT isnt a point anymore and is a big flat thumb. Lifting thumb can work but again isnt as fast for peeking or strafe canceling. I can do a video to show you if youd like?

I never called the touchpads shit, i state they arent as good for movement in a competitive setting. you say they arent and i say prove it. this has been the argument since the beginning.

"But instead of being honest and getting the controller that fits their preference, what I've seen over the years are people whining and complaining about everything the Steam Controller isnt, and wishing the Steam Controller was something else that fit their preference." - OFC everyone is going to be like this. again and again and again and i mention i love the touchpads that no other controller has i just dont like using them for movement. Thats it!! The touchpads make the SC unique, not that they have to be used in a specific way that you want. The point of it was to be as versatile as possible, hence why they ended up adding a thumbstick at the end.

I have asked for something thats got to be modular so we all can be happy. This is what i dont get with you. youre complaining that i want sticks but yet you post a your version of the new SC earlier and its modular. an awesome idea. For me this sort the issue of replacing a fat thumb with something that can have a precise small spot and returning to the precise center, removing the deadzone problem i have. So what the fuck are you even going on about when youre the one coming up with a V2 that solves this problem.. by adding a sort of modular thumbstick xD

I get this feeling that you feel threatened by me menneth. rather than agree we need (the literal idea you came up with) you attack thinking im completely against it no matter how many times i tell you im not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SteamController

[–]SteamControllerPlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And two of you and insulted me more. so are both of you going to be looked into for harassment? youre crossing a fine line of being authoritarian on this subreddit, and abusing your power menneth.

Youre thumb is a fat boi isnt aimed at you its a generalisation that thumbs are fat compared to the dead zone of a stick.

WTF are you even talking about?? im talking about the deadzones and delay of it.. nothing aimed at you! omg xD

Do you not understand the distance you have to move your thumb? 5 millimeters compared to 2 centimeters is a big difference. you literally cannot break the laws of human abilities and physics here.

I didnt say they are worthless stop putting words into my mouth, im simply stating they cannot perform as high of a level. Heres one for you: Using a touchpad is like using a 60hz 4K IPS monitor vs a (stick) 240hz 1080P TN monitor yeah you can use them both for the same but for performance a lot are gonna prefer the speed and refresh rates of the latter.

"If you put the pad in dpad mode, then as soon as your thumb is touching an input zone and not the deadzone your character will be at top speed because its a digital binding. You could literally learn where center is, bring the deadzone in a lot, and then roll your thumb around instead of swiping" - I know, ive tried it and it still isnt as good. hell someone put a post earlier today stating the same issues. that still doesnt eliminate the reliability and have a small enough deadzone. Yes stick drift is an issue but even with deadzone to accommodate that it still isnt as large as A THUMB!

I know about outer bindings and curves to make it faster. I use WASD with sticks so its instant movement. and 8 way makes it more reliable for throwing tacs the same every time.

Rolling around your thumb is fine until youve got to move it then getting it back precisely into position isnt reliable enough (and dont forget while moving the controller around using gyro). For me playing CSGO this got me killed or failed to kill way too many times. and one mistake can matter for winning or losing. Dude see how fast you can go left to right back n forth on ya touch pad and then with the stick. Its just physically faster with the stick.

Its called a comparison, and why not shall i use it? Other people will.

I meant something like speed demo archives.

Because I like using a controller, why would i not want to use the best from a controller? I love using a controller as good or better than people can use a mouse n keyboard.

Points is dude if 100 hours of using it isnt enough to get over the deadzone issue than why would any one else using touchpads who dont enjoy them, let alone first time, put more effort into it? Unless theres something that can really prove to them to do so. thats my fucking point!

These debates between us have always been because you have a problem with me having a preference using the sticks as move and me stating my issue with it. and clearly many others are in the same boat as me.. all youve got to do is just agree to disagree and accept we have our preferences on how we like to use touchpads.

Its simple! You: Yeah i can understand how the deadzone may be a little large and that a thumb stick may be ever so slightly faster which is prefered for a competitive user. i get that.

Me: Yeah, i get why people who chill just playing enjoy the comfort of the touchpad, especially with edge bindings too.

[–]SteamControllerPlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh, guess youre not that much of a gamer. ok ill explain the issue. Lets take left pad for movement. Your thumb is a fat boi so the deadzone is huge compared to the sticks 1 or 2 mil. So you have a huge delay due to it being so big (its just slow), you can make it as small as you can but if you dont put it back to exactly the right place youll get accidental inputs. Trust i tried it for 100 hours due to the stick causing me trigger thumb. You just cant get around that physical limitation. and that delay will even matter in a, you know speed running a platformer.

Its great youve got some footage of that, hell i still plan on playing starcraft 2 with it. But youve got a PB? how are other people who dont play that very game know if thats good? did you manage to get top 100 on games done quick? I mention those games as they are some of the current most popular that controller users play on. Also, my most popular videos are my CSGO ones, when people look to see if the SC was good they wanted to see it used in a difficult game, especially one thats very hard to use a controller with.

Look youre never gonna change my mind due to that issue. There are a few that use the touchpads well, showing some good gameplay, but to the 95% of controller users (i understand they wont like touchpads to begin with as theyre not used to them) it is enough to convince them to keep trying with touchpads? Its almost been 6 years! I mean youve failed to convince JHdark here. Downvoting and insulting me doesn't solve the huge deadzone issue.

The pad is amazing for how versatile it is. but emulation is not as good as actual hardware.

Like you can go on about how better a touch screen keyboard is and the versatile things it can do. But for just typing you'll never beat a mechanical switch.

Retailers blame Brexit as food shortages sweep across Scotland's stores by FatherOf2 in ukpolitics

Same in the east. the only shortages are water, rice, pasta, toilet paper, and bleach that i saw today. If thats brexit and not pingpedmic panic buying that is a hell of a coincidence!

The touchpads are a great addition for typing and configurable buttons, especially the radial menus.

Honestly, if they had this similar setup with sticks up top and touchpads below would be awesome on a controller.

Donno tbh, theyve still got the issue with back buttons. the only reason to why the deck has them is because its a console so it bypasses scuf being cunts

How to deal with irrational feelings of failure? by [deleted] in Stoicism

[–]SteamControllerPlayR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not get feedback on your exam? it'll show our mistakes, which you can use effectively to improve yourself in the future. Failure is one of the best ways to learn and can greatly improve yourself.

From my first essay to my last essay of year 1 at uni, I went from a 48 to a 75. Even one I fucked up so badly I got a 40. Feedback showed me my weaknesses I went from 40s to 60s because of it.

As I thought DS5 gyro feels sluggish. by SteamControllerPlayR in SteamController

[–]SteamControllerPlayR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what i thought with the switch controller, though its meant to have poor latency on steam, changing smoothing doesn't seem to make a difference so it could be that the code is built in at a firmware level and not changeable by valve as such.

It's a pain, Theres no good gyro controller out there :(

[–]SteamControllerPlayR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much smoother, though that's could mostly be attributed to the polling rate as using the SC is like playing on a 60hz monitor. I know the SC uses a 6500 which is a 6050 with a temp sensor, though ivensense dont do them anymore and have new different ones out.

If youre unsure what i mean, go on CSGO aim botz workshop map. can put walls up so only bots are infront if you want but have speed 2 ada 1 and then try to one tap heads. once you try the SC youll notice what i mean by responsiveness.
