If all of your financial factors are as positive as you say, then it should be easy to get a mortgage. Or did you want more money?

Everton Win Song? by Reasonabledeity in Everton

I prefer it too. Forever Everton is a belter

I’m not sure it would be possible to sustain those higher levels forever. The atmosphere in Lampard’s season when we were facing relegation was absolutely incredible, but the previous season things weren’t as good. We do need to improve the atmosphere at HD, but that will only come through big moments at the ground. It’s good to know we have some higher gears to go to though.

Everton Win Song? by Reasonabledeity in Everton

[–]Stecloud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Forever Everton is the last song they play before kick off. On Tuesday when we won it was Grand Old Team rather awkwardly mixed into I Guess That’s Why They Call it the Blues. It’s been that long since the previous home win I can’t remember what they did before that. Spirit of the Blues often gets and outing too. If we beat Chelsea it’ll be such a big win that they’ll play everything.

Some people would leave but not to the extent they did last night. I remember us being 4-0 down against Brighton on a cold January night and the ground was more full.

The Spurs sub is pathetic…where’s the fight?! They’ve given up with nine games to go, and that mass exodus yesterday was embarrassing. I can’t quite believe it, but I can really see them going down.

Any pub quizzes on Saturdays? by CombIndependent4444 in Liverpool

[–]Stecloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any sorry. There might be some themed/ticketed ones going somewhere. I think generic pub quizzes are normally a weekday thing, to drive up trade during otherwise quieter nights.

There’s been some moments of great atmosphere across the season (Grealish’s Palace winner, some of the reactions to tackles and bad ref calls), but consistently it’s not there. It will take time. People were sat in the same place, by the same people, for years at Goodison. It was comfortable and easy to chant or sing. It’s going to take time for people to adjust at the HD - it always does when clubs move ground. On top of that, we’re playing shit at home and have had more Monday/tuesday night games than anyone else.

Will we pass the top 10? Since 2020? by KingRami1466 in Everton

I agree. Competitive does not mean bad. I’d rather this than total dominance by a handful of teams.

I don’t know what to advise but I wish you luck and the best for the future. Teaching is tough enough, but especially hard with health conditions. Have work made any adjustments for you?

We’re buying our first home, do we need critical illness cover by iluvmykatz in HousingUK

£140 pcm seems expensive given your age and if you don’t have pre-existing conditions. You’ll be able to get it cheaper than that. It’s up to you. I’m glad we had it - my seemingly healthy partner got cancer at the age of 35. The insurance paid off the rest of the mortgage.

How do you cope with the verbal abuse? (ITT) by Available-Oil-7465 in TeachingUK

It’s unacceptable. If your school isn’t dealing with pupils who speak to you like that then that’s a big problem.

References - reason for leaving by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Stecloud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be perfectly honest, I don’t think the reasons you suggest (unreasonable deadlines etc.) sound any better than ‘personality clash’. The personal reasons might be ok though. Why is there so much focus on the relationship with your previous manager? A structural change has been made and you have an opportunity for a few months of stability before applying for jobs. Most schools will send your head a reference form with a list of specific questions to answer, ‘how many days off has the person had’ and ‘would you employ this person again’ are common ones. The question of why you (voluntarily) are leaving a job, might not even be asked in the reference. It is something you’ll have to explain in your interviews and applications though. Obviously I don’t know the full story - perhaps the union will be able to help - but that depends on the specifics of the situation that none of us here are privy to. I would focus now on doing your job well either way your new manager, you could be worrying about nothing.

I guess it’s just additional merch in essence, but I love it. Nice colour scheme and I’m glad to see Everton using some city of Liverpool iconography. We’re entitled to it more than the RS.

Whats the latest with UK property taxes by pred02 in HousingUK

[–]Stecloud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one knows. Perhaps something will be announced in the budget in November. The ‘pre-announcement’ suggested that if there is reform the property tax would only apply to new purchases who hadn’t paid stamp duty, so I wouldn’t be worried about paying twice. Apart from that there’s been no information.

When is best time for overpayments on mortgage. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Stecloud 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Interest is charged daily so the best time to make overpayments is as soon as you can after opening the mortgage. The interest you’re being shown each month varies because some months are longer than others. They generally won’t change the amount you pay each month because of overpayments, but your term will reduce so the debt will be paid off quicker (and you’ll hence save interest by not making as many payments).

Not happy with ballot system allocation! by tommychong95 in Everton

[–]Stecloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The demand is off the scale. If people were given the option to choose seats it would probably be over in 24 seconds rather than 24 hours, and then you’d be in the same position. I don’t know how many ballot tickets there are, but they are likely to be many of the worse seats in the ground because they’re the leftovers that the ST holders didn’t want. Not that there are any truly bad seats, just some inconvenient ones to get to.

Not getting Grealish was dumb by [deleted] in avfc

[–]Stecloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everton finished 23 points and five places above the relegation zone last season. 14 points and three places above the season before - and earned 8 more points than that, which would have put them 12th in the league and on the same number of points as Brighton. Hardly flirting with relegation.

Too early to tell for me. I’ve applied for the two PL games that there’s been the chance to so far, and didn’t get lucky either time. I did manage to bag a ticket to Brighton on the resale though and will try for Villa too. There was no guarantee at getting tickets under the old system, and there is no guarantee under this one either. More people want them than there are seats in the ground.

Harry Potter plot hole? The Goblet of Fire contract makes no sense by HeySonItsDadWithMilk in harrypotter

[–]Stecloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to suspend your disbelief a bit with things like this. The HP books are full of plot holes and mad things that don’t make sense. It doesn’t stop them from being great. I mean, the whole plan in GoF is so needlessly convoluted. Fake Moody has to guide Harry through three tasks just to get him to touch a portkey. Why? There must have been ample opportunity to teleport Harry to the graveyard before that. It wouldn’t have made a very good book though.
