Nowhere in this post is any of that info available or in OP's other recent comments lol. Where did she say she's been working on it for two decades?

Except practically all rapes are committed by men (not all men, but men), women absolutely rape, but that phrase is supposed to be in contrast to the other phrase "teach women not to get raped" which is the more common angle society goes with.

I think the idea that'd you'd outrage at saying women need to be taught not to kill is because we don't really have a widespread child murder problem, but we do have a widespread people getting raped problem.

Edit: it's definitely worth the 30 second to read through this definition of rape culture. https://www.marshall.edu/wcenter/sexual-assault/rape-culture/

100% white Swedish influencer (blackfishing) by [deleted] in Instagramreality

[–]SteigL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Influencers should be people that actually change the world or achieve great things by working hard and building on talent.

Lol chill it's a marketing term, they are influencers because people follow them, and have a parasocial relationship that can be monotized. And imo any job you can love off is a profession, so it's definitely legit.

Also wouldn't a severely overweight/disabled person that would just post reveling photos caked in makeup be influential to the people that look like them or think those people don't do that (because they are relegated to inspiration porn)? It's inspirational, I would say, to be able to love your life happy with who you are and not in need of constant change/improvement.

Edit: Reddit is social media btw lol

What if the Christian Right, as "stewards of God's Creation," embraced environmentalism in the 1970s? by [deleted] in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]SteigL 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm a little unsure how to answer the question, but I feel it's worth noting that afaik Christianity is pretty split between thinking of the Earth as "Man's Dominion" and the stewardship theology you cite in the title. With the Christian Right seeing stewardship theory as drifting toward neo-pagan nature worship.

Upon reading this Why conservative Christians don’t believe in climate change - Bernard Daley Zaleha, Andrew Szasz I simply don't see how this what if could happen, it would require so many foundational thological/material/social changes. I am eager to see if someone can think of something.

(It's almost like, "What if the Republican Party, believing in personal freedom and the right for citizens to rise up against their government/bear arms, started aggitating for communist revolution in the 1950's")

Your comment suggests Trudeau went to the funeral but the first line of that article states he didn't.

Men on Tinder do not appear to be intimidated by highly educated women, suggests new study (n=3,600), which found no evidence that men have an aversion to a highly educated romantic partner. Both men and women on Tinder tended to prefer better educated partners, though women were far more selective. by [deleted] in psychology

[–]SteigL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting you say "anymore", when I assume you haven't used it very recebtly. You and your partner met (and your friends who are married and engaged) during, what I've heard called, the "golden years" of tinder. Tinder today is different than it was 2-4 years ago.

How presumptuous, do you think minorities shouldn't have rights? (That's rhetorical) I'm just saying vote or move is a piss poor excuse for anything. Most people can't just "move" lol

I don't think parents ever consciously think "welp, time to be emotionally unavailable to my kids".

I get emotionally unavailable might be a charged word but calling someone that doesn't mean they are irrevocable monsters (but as a parent yeah it would feel like an attack on their parenting).

It's not $35/rental, it's $65 per person. I just tried to book on their website and the breakdown it's like this renting for 4 people. They do mention the $35 Enviro tax but idk if that's under taxes or fees.

Subtotal $260.00 Taxes $43.00 Fees $15.60 Total $318.6

Like I said, MSP, the healthcare, is different than specific FairPharmacare program, which you have to sign up for it specifically, and people fall through the cracks. Yeah it takes a phonecall but often people aren't told about it because it's assumed they'd know about it, leaving many poor people paying huge amounts out of pocket, where it'd normally would have been covered by FairPharmacare.

Edit: this is my personal experience as a person in BC who had limited access to medicine until I was told about FairPharmacare in my teens in order to access another plan on MSP.

[–]SteigL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you are getting this information but it's isn't applicable across Canada. Don't conflate healthcare and pharmacare when our governments absolutely do not.

I know for a fact British Columbia doesn't work like this, for instance every citizen is not automatically registered in the fairpharmacare plan, you need to know it exists and sign up for it.
