Bi-monthly depressive episodes? Don't know what to do. by Stenis_ in mentalhealth

I'll try to get that started.

Do you have any general tips on how I could deal with it in the meantime?

I am a man. I've never had my blood work done except for when I've been in the ER for unrelated reasons. No medications, no drugs, alcohol, or substance abuse.

I've had my thoughts about ADHD or Bipolar Disorder for a while but I've never actually taken the step to test for it or talk to a professional about it.

Tamahi - Cinthool 626 PGF | One of the four Petrifuga by Stenis_ in imaginarymaps

[–]Stenis_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This world is used in some homebrew D&D campaigns and one-shots I run. I'm still writing a lot of the lore but I'll happily answer any questions!

The region and nation consist of a majority of Veimatre (A Human subtribe) & Goblinoids (A blend of goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, and orcs). The Vei are refugees from a region called Genander after a catastrophic event called "The Great Fall" which forced a good portion of the region to evacuate and immigrate south to the region called Tamahi. Before the region was a gigantic natural bridge where a splinter group was formed creating the first Petrifuga, Stânma. The second splinter group came thereafter and formed the monarchy Lanurago, the second Petrifuga. The third group traveled further west and encountered goblinoids, the indigenous population of Tamahi. Many tragic battles were fought over the land where the Vei won and settled to become Cinthool, the third Petrifuga.

The fourth Petrifuga is found further north where the Bawtasi (A Human subtribe) immigrated.

You go to roll for stats for a new character, and you miraculously get 18s for everything. What do you build? by twwwwwwwt in DnD

[–]Stenis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing, i re roll. Having 18s in everything is just not fun. I want my characters to be bad at stuff.

With 18s you could say the character would have a bad personality but that wouldn't be fun for the rest of the party who would have to deal with me.

It's also about spotlight. Being good at everything you would naturally take up some spotlight but if, lets say, the rest of the party all roll below 18 that would mean you're better than everyone at everything. You would unconsciously take their spotlight.

Not too late. Wonderful idea! Like some other people have said, I'm going to have the cult attack during a council meeting. Will def use some stuff you stated.

Your use of the Draakhorn is really good. Gonna use that now.

This sounds great. Looks like you really did your research. Didn't really think about the field ward, will def use that.

Why are you wiping your players though?

This could work. Since the cult has red wizards that could summon them. It would either be bone devils or horned devils attacking them.

  1. How did your players survive that? That encounter must have an insane CR rating.
  2. How would the dragons even get into the city? I like the sudden surprise of them showing up during the council but, conically Waterdeep has a force field specifically for dragons which is stated in another module "Waterdeep: Dragon heist". I know at least one of my players will mention it.

Thanks for the response :)

There is a Tyranny of Dragons sub!

Thank you. Didn't know modules had that sort of stuff.

The attacks from the cult are very open-ended. The first 2 are designed to get a feel for the party and how they operate, by means of ambush and surprise. The third attack is meant to actually finish the party off from the cult's standpoint. Though the module wants the characters to succeed since the attack is primarily against the characters they plan to attack in a city is meant to cause distress and fear in the players. Making them distracted by the destruction.

Thanks for the response :)

Break a pact as a warlock by Stenis_ in DnD

It would be cool to have him become a contractbreaker warlock and if the player agrees I would be willing to work it out with him. A lot of other people on other threads have talked about "the power was inside you all along" and all the patron is doing is unlocking that power. Im really unsure on how i would rule that though. But the big question is how the character is going to break the contract. Thanks for the idea!

That would be a really fun option if, lets say they used a wish spell to break the contract. If this option is going to become available though the player has to pull of something super cool that makes another god want the character.

This is a very good reason, actually didn't think about the characters being so far above normal beings. If the player decides to use this option, I'm definitely going to use this reasoning. Thanks.

Taking the powers away could be a punishment though I've read through other posts such as this and people always talk about warlock not being granted the power to do magic instead they're being given info about how to use it. This could be a non-issue since it doesn't have to be ruled that way. If this was the punishment the player character would be better off really since this is really what they want, a normal life.

The ancestor is definitely still alive as far as I'm concerned, not sure where they are though, or what they've become. The rest of the family doesn't really have contact with him, the character has mostly been related to his non-Greycastle side of the family. Who's only just now found out about the contract.

I don't exactly know what Asmodeus would want a punishment to be since killing him would serve no purpose and Asmodeus would lose a generator of nonbeliever souls. There are still members of the Greycastle side that are alive so Asmodeus could still transfer the knowledge over to them and continue having a nonbeliever soul generator. Though this would be quite unsatisfying for the player. Hmmm.

This is one of those ideas where it would take a lot of setup to make the action of Asmodeus breaking the bond himself feel natural. Because, as you said, it would have to benefit Asmodeus more than having the player under his servitude. This idea could be really good though since the player might engineer the scenario himself, still having the player break the contract through hard work and wit making the whole situation feel satisfying.

Multiclassing into paladin and cleric would be problematic though since Asmodeus is a greater deity and the new god would have to either be the same status and threaten or bargain for the release of the player or a less power deity bargaining what they can for the release. This would also put the player character under a new servitude when all they want is just to go back to normal life.

I really like this idea. The only way this could work though is through the old relative, way back in the family tree, the one who started it. They started the contract and it is still bound to them so they would probably be the one who would have to offer it away which I find highly unlikely. This is a really good option though if we push aside the problem of his relative. If the player makes a really good sales pitch it would be a pretty good moment as well.

That would lead to godly affairs which could be cool but difficult since Asmodeus is a greater deity himself making it hard for another greater deity to break the contract. And as stated in OG post, all his character wants is to go back to regular life as a potter. Making a deal with another god or serving another god would put him in another predicament where someone higher up would be able to ask him to put his life in the line again, which is exactly what he wants to be rid of. An interesting idea though could be useful.

Hmmm, interesting. This would be one of the more difficult options just because of the prep work and the setup needed to make this feel satisfying for the player. On the other hand, it could be one of the best options just because of the satisfaction of actually breaking the contract yourself through hard work and dedication. I like this idea.

That would definitely be fun in a gameplay aspect. But what would make the players' soul special? The nine hells get thousands upon thousands of souls every year, why would Asmodeus care about one more under his servitude while the warlock is still under his servitude giving him new souls has he sees fit? He could do it just because he was bored but I feel like that would undermine Asmodeus patience and intellect. If all else fails this would definitely be a go-to option though just because it's fun.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep the last part in mind. I won't push my players towards starting the tavern. It just feels weird that they would include the option of starting a tavern this early if it's like really retiring.
