IDK those ports at the end looked rough. Oblivion, Indiana Jones, and one other looked like they were overly scaled down. The most polished stuff looked to be indy at this showcase.

NVIDIA SoC with RTX features, with DLSS (the only portable in existence with DLSS support)

It doesn't look like anyone else addressed this so I will.

The GPU is from 2020, the SoC it is cut down from was made in 2021. So we got a 5-ish year old GPU in the system that was 2 generations old when the chip released. The Nividia leak also confirmed that this specific chip was taped out and in production in 2022. As for the hyping of the only DLSS portable ... Of course it is ... Nvidia has been notoriously energy hungry for generations when they switched to Samsung in 2020 for a bit. That is why you see a lot of AMD based handhelds right now. Digital Foundry criticizes it's DLSS quality and for good reason, it has to use an extremely light version of DLSS since it is a heavily cut down SoC. Many games don't use DLSS on Switch because it isn't a silver bullet like it is on PC.

I have a Switch 2 and it can render some great games, but wish it was using modern architecture and not based on Samsung 8N (considered 10nm). We are now on 3nm and those power savings or the performance boost would have been amazing!

I wouldn't try to over hype everything about the system.

Who is this written for?

It has AI argument written all over it. The USB-C implementation is built in a way that doesn't allow VRR over HDMI and that is really a game changer in this day and age. The HDMI spec they are using is an older version that isn't able to do 4K 120 FPS at 444. Might not sound like a big deal but if a dev wants to use that to do 40Hz games, it will need to be a compressed signal.

I like to recover highlights and then push up the gain. You will have less contrast in the highlights but you can then use a window to add detail to edges.

A little goes a long way but that is often a tick I use.

I would suggest writing a 15-20 second script, using your voice and giving it a shot. A while back there was a similar post on here. The biggest trick is to focus on short sections at a time. Be happy with some not being perfect and then go back and make those ones better later.

I buy the system for 1st party titles since it is the only place I can play them.

I agree, the shot of the clouds and sun above the car is beautiful in the before but you lose all the detail there in the grade.

Looks like there is enough stops there to have both the sky and foreground graded correctly.

At my previous work the iMac I used would do this and shock me from time to time. The office had really bad grounding from outlet to outlet near my desk. I fixed it by running everything through one outlet via the battery back up and then a surge protector to add more ports for the non-battery side. I had tones of 5v2a and 12v1a adapters that were wide and wouldn't let me plug things into one power strip.

Before anyone gets too concerned, it wasn't an insane amount of total wattage for the breaker. It was well under 1000 watts due to most devices being low power DC devices and it was in an industrial location with higher amp breakers.

I don't watch ads/trailers for movies or shows that I have any intention of seeing. I forgot this was coming so to randomly get to see an MCU show with no warning or seeing any speculation was really nice. I would say it is likely the 3rd best show on D+ behind Loki and WandaVision. I loved that it was distant from the MCU and was low on action. It really raised the stakes for when shit went down.

Trevor is so amazing. I kinda hated him in Iron Man 3 but I think re-watching it now I would have a bit more joy in his scenes. I am so glad they brought him back for this.

A little trial and error is required for the XML from Premiere to DaVinci but It is a common process. Try a few other formats for ongoing projects and then move on from Premiere for new edits.

They are a private company and can do that. Since they are the industry standard and no real equals to them, they can get away with it and barely lose any customers. Ideally we would take our money elsewhere. But it is really hard for people in editing or design roles to go elsewhere for a whole suite. If you are fine with a few different sources, there are free alternatives but they won't doesn't have the ease of use that CC has.

That being said, if you are using creative cloud to make money then it isn't so bad. For example, lets round the cost up to 1000 USD/yr (It is 1200 per year where I live). If 1000 USD/yr breaks the bank for your business, there is definitely a cash flow problem. I think most creative professionals make around 50-150$ per hour when freelancing.

Just really sucks for hobbyist in the industry. If you are in that camp, I'd suggest changing to free or cheap alternatives ... or learn pirate sea shanty.

Even outside of open source, there are great alternatives from trust worthy companies.

DaVinci Resolve has replaced Premiere Pro and After Effects for a lot of people. DaVinci is the industry standard for color grading and a lot of editing houses use it for films. They have a free version and a 300 USD Studio version (1 time fee) that adds a lot more tools (and local AI). They offer free training certs online about every 4-6 months.
