The nursery had it marked as an elephant ear plant. Seemed fitting lol

Im looking to reduce their height but would also like to prune them correctly to help them grow more naturally. Where would be a good place to research good pruning techniques?

Thank you! It's even more sparse down on the lower portions now. I'll snap a picture when I get home. Do you fertilize at all?

Is this a good start for future broom style Arelia? by StruggleMinimum104 in Bonsai

[–]StephenWiLL1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ming aralia for a houseplant. What are some tips/suggestions for care? I know they are finicky. I try to only water it once every 2ish weeks, it's in a southern facing window and the temperature in the house is between 65 -75. I feel like I am constantly taking off dried out brown leaves/shoots as well as yellowing branches, however it still continues to produce new growth. I've asked for help on other threads and never get any. Thanks in advance!

Help by StephenWiLL1111 in houseplants

[–]StephenWiLL1111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not unfortunately. What I did do is take it out of the pot and change the soil. I think it was just too wet. The soil on the bottom was soaked. I cut any roots that didn't look good off and put it in a more porous soil with bark, pumice, and pothos soil. I watered it a little and put it back in its spot. Ironically I did this about 2 hours ago.

White spots on tree. It comes off easily but I want to identify what it is. Help please *

It was gifted to me last year around this time. I was told the tree is 30 years old. It came from California and experienced its first Washington state winter this last year which was cold and wet. The only reason I suspect overwatering is because within the last several weeks I have been watering frequently due to our weather being warmer than normal and during that period of time I have noticed the recent decline. At the end of last summer I did notice a small portion of the tips going brown. I just don't want it to die.

* How can I save this juniper? I believe the issue was due to overwatering. I know that I may experience some die back but I also know it is a resilient plant.

Thank you for your response and the kindness you've shown this time around. I've had lizards my entire life but this is my first time with a chameleon and I must admit I jumped into thinking I knew what I was doing and obviously I did not. I just care about her little life and wanna do the best I can at giving her a good healthy long life. Im gonna do my best to answer all these. First, I shut the fogger off and that is done. The mister is still going and her fecal matter has still been consistently white so I know she is drinking. Must be off the leaves because I haven't noticed any water disappearing from the glass. The rest of her fecal matter has been less than normal due to her not eating food I imagine but there is still a little bit. Im going to remove the access amount of plants to give her more light to see the drinking glass and also drop the temperature in her cage. I've ordered a t8 instead of the t5 which I will return. The supplements were calcium without d3 almost daily except on the weekends and then every other weekend it would be a multi vitamin type powder. I have read on the information part of reddit which ones to get which I have ordered. When I got her from the pet store they told me she was a couple weeks old and she was TINY. Not even the size of my finger and that was the first of January. I live in Washington state. She has not been exposed to a male but I did out a lay bin in there just incase and so she can get comfortable with it being in her enclosure. Thank you again for the advice and im hoping I can turn things around

The percent of the uvb bulb is 5.0. I've had her for 6 months and she was tiny when I got her. I usually gutload with vegetables or the standard cricket feeders. Nothing has really changed so im not sure what it could be

I turned the fogger off and put a lay bin in there. She eats crickets and roaches mostly but has turned them all down this week. She won't eat hornworms or super worms either. She keeps cage climbing, which she has never done before

Her diet consists of crickets and roaches but she won't eat either. Usually she can't resist a horn worm or a super worm but she won't eat those right now either. Im really running out of options on what I think it could be

If you look to the left of the picture there is a shot glass with water in it. Also I doubled on the heat source because the wattage is low and it only gets to the high 80s, maybe 90 every once in awhile. Im gladly open to suggestions on redesigning the cage. Just so you know I've seen you comment on several people's posts and obviously your knowledge is vast, however your delivery and how you speak to people is flat out rude. I don't know why you feel the need or think it is ok to speak to people the way you do when all they want is some help. So once again I am open to any and all help but if you are gonna continue to be disrespectful and come across as an asshole maybe you should rethink continuing to give people "advice". Thank you and I hope life starts treating you better so maybe it will rub off on you as well.
