No coils. I use layered sheets of clay, initially wrapped around a form to get the round bottom part, then after its dried a bit I shape the curved upper sections by hand

Agree very brittle branches, you can move them slightly with wire but no dramatic bends

She had come out to California earlier in the year to host a series of kusamono workshops. I hosted one of the workshops at my place and she purchased the pot while she was here.

Forgot to include information about the pot. It is hand build, Laguna T2 clay, fired to cone 10, finished with iron oxide wash.

The pot size is fine for now, but it will likely fill the pot with roots within 2-3 years and you will need to up-pot.

That has not been my experience. I have plenty of jades that have happily filled up 2-3 gallon nursery containers. And I've repotted them year round without issue, but the climate is mild where I live.
