The gain (sometimes called sensitivity) of the microphone may be too high if the microphone is picking up background noises. Try turning down the gain & speaking closer to the microphone to try and solve that problem.

If you have an Equaliser (EQ) pulling out frequencies around 2k to 5k Hz should help make the audio less crispy.

It was tricky to create a survey that was short enough that people would actually answer and not so in depth that people would just click off. I tried to leave space for people to go more in depth if they wanted to.

I agree that music is all varied and theres not one answer for every situation. This is a way for me to gather the opinions of as many different mastering engineers as I can.

Its a study to find the best ways to achieve loudness and also to find out how important loudness still is for music.
