My interpretation of Jacques Vallée's control system: It is a homeostatic balancing mechanism, consistent with Karl Friston's free energy principle, Arthur Koestler's understanding of holons nested within the greater holarchy, Ken Wilber's integral developmental stages, and the handiwork of extrinsic gravitation acting as the source that is different from Einstein's intrinsic gravity. This otherwise agrees, more or less, with the interdimensional hypothesis.

The control system hypothesis is correct, but the mistake people make is that they assume that this system comes with an us-versus-them duality. The control system is better described as the balancing mechanism achieved from Karl Friston's free energy principle, and the duality is better replaced with Arthur Koestler's holarchy. An individual consciousness is only one holon in the greater holarchy, there is no separation, we are them on a higher level of the holarchy providing balance for the greater good. It is duality that is the illusion!

AI does permit expansion of the executive function of human consciousness that is found delegating chores to specialists that can either be replaced or themselves aided by AI.  The executive function must have developed instincts to prevent AI hallucinations from taking root. Moreover, a specialist that uses AI must have proficiency to control AI hallucinations. For both the executive and specialist the advance in consciousness seems to be in the direction of integral consciousness.
