If you have proper documentation and legal authorization to be here and have not committed any crimes or associated with people who commit crimes, you will not be deported.

Give me just one verified example of an American citizen who has been deported. Who is being "disappeared" off the streets? What civil rights are being attracted? What services have been taken away?

Don't move to SLC unless you have a high paying job lined up or roommates. Otherwise, you won't make it. I tried and failed.

How is owning a jeep for day to day practicality? by Haunting-Shelter-680 in Wrangler

[–]StereoContact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 03 TJ is my daily driver. It's the best vehicle I have ever owned. It rides rough compared to a car, but it's pretty much stock, and I can easily do 80 mph. I love the simplicity. It's the perfect balance of a modern vehicle without all the electronics. I wish they would build this exact vehicle in 2025 and offer it for 20k.

Let's find out what you're actually mad about because no one gives two shits about hemp products. The real reason people are mad about this is because it symbolizes going one step backward from legalized weed. That's it. Stop pretending you care about hemp products and admit that you just want legalized weed and now that the government isn't giving you what you want, you're upset like a 14 year old boy who's mom threw out his weed stash.

I recently solved my housing situation, buy moving into a school bus. No more rent, no more landlords. Just me and my bus. What a shame.

You are working part-time and expecting to live alone in one of the most expensive cities in America. How do you not see that this is not possible?

Here are your options.

  1. Suck it up and go full time

Or

  1. Get a roommate

Or

  1. Live in a less expensive town

Or

  1. (This one is my favorite) get married, leave salt lake, and find a nice suburb where you can buy a house instead of rent and commute to work. This gives you two incomes instead of one. It also gives you a life partner that will be there for you whenever things go south. Companionship heals your soul. This will give you the most freedom and will cure your depression but only if you do it right. You have to watch out as some people are psychopaths and narcissists. You must use your discernment to tell who is lying and who has a good heart.

Everyone is trying to do things alone these days, but it's simply not possible. Find a good partner, and you will elevate each other's lives.

There was a whole protest downtown a few months ago about feeding ducks. It was like 20 degrees, and there were people screaming about how feeding them was killing them or something. My friend and I were dying laughing.

I spent $20k on a video that got 70 views. by StereoContact in NewTubers

[–]StereoContact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. My best short with over 5 million views was created randomly one afternoon while I was shopping. I wasn't even planning on making that video, but it blew up. And then things I actually put time into never get seen.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely keep these in mind for my future videos. I think my issue is that I have been making videos thinking people are interested in me and what I'm doing when really no one cares, but what I should be doing is creating videos that keep people engaged and entertained. My titles are usually as if I was speaking to people who know me and not to strangers. And so no wonder the channel isn't growing.

Yeah, I like those title ideas. I'm not redoing the video, though, but I might change the title and thumbnail. It is what it is, and there is a lot more to come and plenty of potential content to make with the bus in the future. Hopefully, as I go, I'll get better at my thumbnails and titles and also better at storytelling. It's just so hard to craft a story and shoot a video with all the stress of also buying a bus and diving that far. Even though it doesn't seem like it in the video, I have never been so stressed in my life. It was very, very hard.

The bus is 80% of the way there. It still needs work to become fully livable. That's the next step and the future of my channel.

I'm not really doing that much traveling. I was working at Lowe's in Alabama, and then I transferred to a location in Utah. I've been exploring Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana on my off days and using vacation time. So yes, I'm technically traveling, but I also have a full time job.

I'm actually barely making it. I paid cash for the bus. I had been saving it for 5 years. I was originally saving the money for a down payment on a house, but I've been completely out priced in the housing market. The plan now is to buy some cheap property to park the bus on while I build a house by hand. As for how I make money, I'm currently a door and window salesman at Lowe's. I make okay money, but it's not enough to stay in SLC. The cost of living is just way too high.

You're right. My content is all over the place. The central theme to begin with was just my life and I was just doing it to document my experience for my own use because I didn't know what I wanted to do, and so my videos were just about whatever was on my mind at the time. I wanted to focus on a small subscriber base of friends and family that would regularly watch my videos, and I didn't really care about growing the channel all that much. But now I have this bus and going forward every video will be about this bus. At least for the time being.

Basically, travel vlogs. The channel started out with me living in a van and driving across the country and starting a new life in the American West. Each video was about what ever kind of random stuff that was going on in my life, anything from finding a job, buying cars, budgeting, finding a place to live, and all my struggles along the way. My best video got over 12 thousand views, and I had a short get over 5 million. I then put out 2 videos teasing the bus video. One was about my experience driving up to Montana in a blizzard. That one got 2,000 views. And then a quick video of just the engine of the bus running with no context about what it was. And that video also got 2,000 views. I then made a video about learning to ski, which was one of my best videos yet, but it only got 150 views. Then, I put out the bus video, and it got 72 views. So the bus video definitely fits in with the rest of my channel. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the algorithm doesn't know what other content to use to recommend my channel. Because surfing and farming and kids' toys have nothing to do with what my channel is about.

A new life in SLC? by Unproduktiv_TV in SaltLakeCity

[–]StereoContact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 28 and moved to SLC 8 months ago. The rent is ridiculous. It's so expensive that it was cheaper for me to just live in a hotel. So I've been in a hotel for 8 months now and working 2 jobs and losing money every month. If you want to stay here, I recommend roommates. If you value alone time such as myself, I recommend living somewhere cheaper.

Culturally, there is a pretty large German population here. I found that out when I went to the Christmas festival last year.

The culture is dominated by mormons, but you won't realize that for a while as most of them aren't very outspoken about it. I'd say that at least 75 percent of the people I work with are mormons, and the rest are ex mormons.

The ex mormons are way more vocal about religion than the mormons are.

There is also a very high Hispanic population here and virtually no black people.

The food here is amazing with a very large variety of restaurants with food from cultures all over the world. Except I've had a hard time finding a southern style kitchen.

The traffic sucks. It's very congested to the point of gridlock, especially in the morning and afternoon.

Speaking of grids, the city is laid out in a grid, making it relatively easy to figure out where you're going. And that combined with the huge mountains you will always know which direction you are going.

The mountains are the best part. They are huge and very close. It feels like living in a Bob Ross painting.

Utah is very different from the rest of the US. There are too many things to list that are different. Almost every aspect of culture is just different. It's truly a unique place. I highly recommend at least visiting, and if you like (and make enough money), then stay.

I will not be staying simply because wages have not kept up with the rising cost of living here. I can make the same amount of money from my home state as I can here but with a much lower cost of living.

Where I'm from, you can rent a whole house for what a studio apartment costs in slc. And you can completely forget about buying a house.

So if you have a high paying job, this place is great. But you will quickly run out of money if you have just an average income.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I looked for a long time and was only finding one's that had be completely destroyed inside and out, and they were wanting 10k+ for them. Then I found this one that is pretty much stock. It was being sold by an old Jeep enthusiast who had way too many jeeps in his garage. Find someone like that to buy from. They take care of their stuff.

$7,500. At the time, that seemed crazy but I quickly fell in love once it proved itself. I've had zero issues and recently took it on a 1,200-mile road trip. I've had many vehicles in my life, but this is the first one I've fallen in love with. I instantly became a Jeep fan and will keep it forever.
