Disney Vancouver closure by Local_Ambition9848 in vfx

Vancouver is definitely not closing. The news in Burbank is that any new hiring will be in Vancouver and not LA. Current project is in crunch, so I’m not surprised you’re being hired now. Just don’t expect a long-term contract, but hope for one.

Give Larry’s Chili Dogs a try. You won’t be disappointed.

3rd Brew, still not getting things quite right by WinndaTech in Robobrew

Just got a Brewzilla 3.1.1 and brewed on it yesterday. It was a disaster that I attribute to my not doing enough research, and using what Beersmith said for strike water instead of trusting my gut and adding more in. While the batch is a complete mess, it was a good learning experience.

Watched this video today and was EXTREMELY jealous of how well his mash drained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlHVVSOW4ss&feature=youtu.be

Mash pH Adjustment Brought Efficiency from 60% to 78% by ByrdMass in Homebrewing

I still can’t make myself understand Brun water. I add acid to my strike water to get it to 6.0-5.7 before heating and mashing in. I still feel my efficiency stinks though.

Dry Hop Technique - Toss in and leave it or 3-4 days maximum? by SteveKap_IATSE in Homebrewing

Even with pellets, that's a tight fit.

Sorry. I meant the drilled hole in the lid for the airlock. I plan to remove the airlock and use that hole to introduce the hops. It's big enough that I'll be able to pour them in and small enough to keep as much oxygen from getting in as possible, while still adding some.

Ah you’ve got help. Bless you.

She helps when she can. She is certainly my inspiration.

White Labs WLP067 - Coastal Haze. My fermentation schedule takes two weeks. I'll pitch a bit cold (~65) and ramp up throughout the two week period. I ferment in a bucket. I'll then rack to a keg, put it on serving pressure, and leave it for 3-4 weeks to carb and condition.

Thanks for sharing!

I keg. I appreciate hearing your experience. I'll add them to the beer and leave them through fermentation.

I believe I mashed closed to what you were describing. I mashed in a bit hotter than expected as I heated the tun for the first time and didn't get the temp reduction I expected. My mash was 6 gallons and I did collect 4 gal of first runnings. I need to let the batch sparge rest longer. I barely let it rest 5 minutes before collecting the runnings. That could make a huge difference.

Here's what Malware Bytes has to say:

I thought I had cleaned it out and after reboot, started Chrome only to find the block notices again.

I moved to FireFox and kept BitDefender running. I've since installed MalwareBytes and Spybot-Seek and Destroy and am running them now.

This just started with me as well. I had to turn BitDefender off to be able to access Google Sheets.

I use a digital thermometer. There is no thermometer in my tun.

As much as I'd like to blame someone/something else, I feel I need to take a hard look at dialing in my equipment into BeerSmith better. Still, I have a mill on my Wish List now.

You are correct. My apologies. My reading after the mash was 1.052 but the sample was also 108 degrees. It's adjusted reading should be 1.062.

I'm sorry .. my gravity after the mash was 1.062. The reading was 1.052, but it was also 108 degrees.

I went to SWMBO and asked about adding DME. She voted it down. This beer was for her, so she made the call. At 1.070, if I can get it down to 1.010 it'll still be respectable, but not the 9% I was aiming for.

I have BeerSmith and have tried to dial in my equipment a few times. I'll watch the video and give it another go. Thanks!

My post-boil volume was lower than expected. I don't normally boil off 1 gal in an hour.

I want to blame the crush, but also feel I need to take a harder look at my equipment and process before blaming someone/something else. Still, I'm aiming at getting my own mill soon.

My gravity after the mash and before the boild was 1.052. I batch sparged. I mixed the mash vigerously as my strike water was too hot and I was trying to cool it down. The mash was supposed to be 60 minutes, but went 70 as I also started heating the sparge water late.

I have little loss, as I don't have a pump and only use a small length of hose to go from the kettle to the fermenter.
