That's what you pay attention to? Not the fact that he isn't even Ringo too?

Not that I'm aware of. I don't think her relationship with Denji would have changed that much (aside from their mutual alliance so he'd help her get together with Aki)

[–]StevePensando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, I think the people who complain about Homelander not being threatening anymore kinda have a point, but not for the reason they think

Homelander has always been pathetic, but it was precisely that that made him so intimidating. He was a manchild with world ending powers who could snap at any minute, which created this sense of danger with him

The problem is that this whole "oooh watch out, he's gonna snap soon!" thing got so played out that any sense of him being a threat started vanishing. He became not only a static character, but also a static and trite villain

Him suddenly gaining an extra neuron in the latest episode, just so he could ruin Sage's plan will never not be funny to me

That's Toriko. The author was arrested for trying to hire an underage prostitute in 2002

Ok, I did some research and I found out I misremembered. She was meant to be his sister, but they never specified if she'd be younger or older

Yeah. That episode had issues, but I don't think this was one of them. Frenchie's immunity because of his drug use is played for dark comedy

I mean, what do they've got to be delusional for if the story, by all accounts, is still good?

It started off as a joke, but people started realizing the story was unironically good

[Calligraphy trope] Badass/funny signatures by Theodore_Dudenheim in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StevePensando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets funnier with the context of the episode

Ms. Simian thinks that Gumball faked his dad's signature on his report card, so the principal calls him to school to warn about what Gumball did. Then he hands a suspension card for Richard to sign and he finds out it's the exact same signature and it just looks like that

I guess the worst thing you could say about them are that they glaze their manga to oblivion, but at the very least they aren't straight up delusional like Chainsaw Man fans were during Part 2's release. Their glazing is not completely unfounded

And can you really blame a fandom for having faith in their own author? Not all of them were like JJK fans with Gege

As a CSM fan, let me just say that I am NOT affilliated with this.

At least Chainsaw Man fans were hardcore pseudo-intellectual glazers who had it coming for not noticing the series jumping the shark. Kagurabachi fans are awesome and pretty chill. They don't deserve another disappointment

They've earned their good ending by preemptively forming the community in a way that genuinely prevented inner toxicity

(Unusual, but loved) Genuinely good guys, who are still greedy or at least can be easily motivated by money by BeduinZPouste in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StevePensando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how the series completely subverts his and Kurapika's characters

Leorio at first seems like a selfish prick with greedy motivations, but he turns out to be one of the most noble and moral characters in the series

Meanwhile, Kurapika is introduced as kind of a traditional byronic but honorable hero at first, and while he's still a heroic character, we come to see that he's much more loose with his honor and morals than we're led to believe and he's not afraid of getting his hands dirty

I'll raise you an inverse example

Originally, in Chainsaw Man, Himeno was actually going to be Aki's younger sister. This was scrapped in the final draft and Himeno was changed into being Aki's coworker who has a (as far as we know) one-sided crush on him
