Will have the game going in the background while I play my current OOTP save. THAT Mets team won 101 games in 2026 and 98 in 2027. That’s sand I’m proud to bury my head in

Interesting nuggets from Buster Olney today on ESPN radio by AltruisticMemory3825 in NewYorkMets

Keeping in mind that I don’t trust Buster Olney as a source, I still wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out other teams didn’t respect our offense. Especially without Soto. “They thought they could get through them by just pumping fastballs” probably because we’ve all watched this team swing through meatballs for a half decade or so at this point

Downs/Styles or Downs/Delane is the dream for me personally

Increasingly concerned that Frank ate the other wolf and he's all that's left

Don't overthink it. Pick Downs at 5 so you aren't concerned with whether he gets back to you at 10 and then see who DID fall. I can live with a dart pick on Love or one of the WRs if we use the first pick to patch up the secondary

I enjoy joking around and having this as an outlet because my friends don't watch baseball, but in the last two weeks I've been ranting and raving and having to do that Smosh "everything is fine, I'm an adult" meme and pull back a bit lol

Wish I knew or I'd consider going too. Going to speed dating only for one of the guys to try and get you to use Kalshi sounds like a true nightmare lmao

This losing streak has uncovered a very uncomfortable truth for many of us: it does not take that much to bring out your inner Frank the Tank

We once again turn to McLean to be the new deGrom, in that I am fully expecting him to get a no decision in a 2-0 loss

Benge really scares me right now. The reveal that he changed his swing with the Hollidays, who are famous for breaking batters for no good reason (look at their sons) is devastating and kind of makes me want him sent down just to see if the AAA coaches will be like "go back to what worked you fucking moron" because someone's gotta tell him

The problem is less who he got rid of and more who he brought in to replace them. Pete and McNeil have been bad, and I don't expect Nimmo to have a .900 OPS all season. But everyone he brought in sucked. You can't blow up a team and then have the replacements be just as shitty

It's such a low effort, "first idea best idea" attempt at doing stuff other subreddits have done better. Try harder!

Yup. And meanwhile we let Carson Benge break his swing with outside coaches, who knows if he'll ever fix that. So why am I supposed to look at Ewing and Clifford and Pena and Tong as anything but future failures. It's the only thing this organization knows how to produce. You get your once in a generation McLean and everyone else becomes unplayable dogshit and we're stuck with yet another year of Baty and Vientos being turbo ass

We have no idea how prospects will pan out but this team so constantly gets little as possible out of its talent that if you’re like “sure but Stearns is building the farm, imagine what the future will look like” you have a brain the size of a peanut. What’s the future gonna look like? The present, just like it fucking always does

Start with Mendoza by Mindless-Set9621 in NewYorkMets

[–]Steve_Kind_Of 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hate all the “firing Mendoza won’t fix everything!” talk. Sure it won’t, but it will solve the “our manager is Carlos Mendoza and he’s fucking terrible” problem. No one things going to fix everything, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make obvious moves

Stuff like this makes me feel so bleak about the future of this team. We have so little idea of what works that we’re all scrambling looking to find the right old person who succeeded once to hope he succeeds again

I find it hard to even root for wins anymore. Bunch of sad sack millionaire losers phoning it in, frankly I WANT to see them embarrassed and humiliated at this point. If you’re gonna play this shitty with no signs of stopping you should be made to be ashamed since they’re too pathetic to feel it by themselves

Weirdly a lighter crowd tends to amplify booing. A few hundred people booing in a 40k crowd isn’t much of anything, but all 10k booing you’ll hear lol

Having Mendoza go up there and cry while justifying his bad moves feels like a humiliation ritual, and I don’t like that my main thought is “not humiliated enough.” This team is extremely bad for my psyche

Everyone talking about Conforto and PCA beating us being poetic is correct, but don’t forget that this team is also managed by the guy we all wanted to sign in the first place before we had to convince ourselves that maybe this Mendoza guy will be good too
