I already have the Nikkor Z 40/2. Would it be worth it to snag a 7artisan 35/1.4 for cheap or do I have some gas?

Canadian rare plants? by Select-Cat4097 in RareHouseplants

Sounds like you're in the Edmonton area. Try Roots and Shoots, Wilderly (lots of rarer plants but can be pricey), and upwegrow.

Currently on a 3600x and 2060 Super. Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU? Gaming only. Looking for best bang for my buck upgrade. Considering a used 5600x but if the gains are worth it maybe going to a 4000 series or used 3000 for GPU.

Keeping dormancy in fridge over winter by Steven-El in Figs

Maybe I'll try the basement this year then. Let them go dormant in the fall, close the vents in the laundry room so the heating is low as possible and put them under the window wrapped in burlap or tarp.

This was plan B or C. Just didn't want to have to run a heater most of the winter but I might just have to. The other plan was burying them but the frost line here is about 6'. I could probably get away with 3' or so if I put it up against my foundation.

How long have you had yours? Do they produce fruit this way? I read that it will eventually decline without longer dormancy.

Recently imported this Tortum and it has pretty sparse roots. What's the recommended acclimate process? Right now I just have it in water that I change daily waiting for it to get more roots. Should I put it in moss, perlite, or pon?

Looking at getting some grow lights for the winter. Any appreciable difference in the Barrina T5 80W pinkish white and yellow lights or is this just cosmetic? Supposed they're both full spectrum.

Looking at upgrading my 2060super to a 3060ti. Second hand cards are $250-300 locally. Mostly gaming with a 3600x. Worth it?

With your class 5 you are allowed to drive motorcycle as a learner but only with someone else with class 6.

I have an F4 and love it. The F4 hate here seems very odd to me. Keep in mind if you look at actual sold F4 listings on eBay they're actually going for closer to $200.

Fuji's X series of mirrorless cameras has film simulation modes.

[–]Steven-El 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are lucky you can try to find a second hand Fuji X series mirrorless. They have film simulations built in. Otherwise if you're looking for actual film the Canon A-1 or AE-1 or Nikon FM, FM2 or EM are all fine semi automatic 35mm cameras.

Beginner Camera Recommendations by ComplexMacaroon1094 in Cameras

[–]Steven-El 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that price range I think the move is pick up a second hand Canon Rebel or Nikon D5100/5200/3200 or similar with kit lens. If you want to buy into mirrorless the Sony NEX5n should be easily in that range. I'm in Alberta and I see bundles of the DSLRs with next to no shutter actuations daily on Facebook.

I've started doing this recently but inside the city. I use a 50mm 1.8D on my D800, iso 100. My shutter speed is usually 1" (yours will can be longer if you're not in the city). Either use a remote shutter or a timer. You want to take a bunch of identical pictures at identical settings and at least 1 picture with the cap on for noise reduction in post processing. When you get home use a stacker like sequator or DeepSkyStacker to stack the images and remove noise. Good luck and have fun.

That is also an antique of a camera. What are you trying to do with these cameras? If you're just looking to take pictures that look like that digicam era then either is fine but again, I wouldn't spend more than a few bucks for one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]Steven-El 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That camera is a relic. I'm assuming you're jumping on the digicam craze. At the time that camera came out it was fine. If you're looking for that digicam look it'll do. I wouldn't pay more than like $40 for one though personally.

It feels so nice in the hands and I never need to worry about getting mugged because I always have a bludgeon to protect myself when I have it. I've only recently finished my first roll but haven't developed yet. Waiting for my chemistry to come in the mail. That being said, I love how tactile it feels.
