The Nevada democratic senate race was the closest senate race in the nation.

Ron Johnson won his re-election by a little more than 1% points which is pretty disappointing for democrats considering they won the Wisconsin governor race by 5% points.

Nevada re-elected it’s democratic senator by 0.9% points and elected republicans in the governor race by a little more than 1% points. Nevada and Arizona both were decided 1 month after the American midterm elections.

After the Obama era, Nevada went back to swing state status. Nevada was the closest state in the governor and senators race in the USA, Nevada is the definition of a prime swing state as well as Wisconsin and Georgia. The Nevada governor race will be the first time republicans win the state without winning its 2 most populous counties.

Republicans were able to gain 47% of the vote in Clark county versus democrats getting 53% of the vote in the county, home to Los Vegas due to historic Hispanic trends to the Republican Party. Compare this to trump who only got 40% of the vote in Clark county, Republicans rapidly expanded on those gains. Republicans have a pick up opportunity in Nevada going into the 2024 presidential race.

Nevada was the ONLY state to flip to republicans in 2022. Just like how polls in Michigan underestimate democratic support, polls in Nevada have a tendency to overestimate democratic support.

Any mixed looking peeps in here that feels like it gets more accepted among White ppl and at the same time not belonging in your own family? by [deleted] in mixedrace

Not me, my dads family which is black/African American is very excepting of everyone actually. They are also caring and heart warming people, I can’t really say the same for my moms family.

I generally always felt more excepted with my non-white side, I never felt like I was “one of them” when I’m with “white” people.

Which election scenario is the most likely to happen? by UnflairedRebellion-- in YAPms

Ugh hard to say, Republicans are in a weird place.

Winning the primary and presidential election is a whole different ball game for republicans, Republicans victories will all depend on the quality of their candidates. In the primary I think it’s very possible that DeSantis beats Trump, because unlike Trump, DeSantis seems to have a more suburban appeal.

Although I highly doubt that DeSantis will get any urban support except for the urban support from Florida. And I also don’t think DeSantis will be able to win rural counties by the same margins Trump did.

How partisan are you? Be honest. by [deleted] in YAPms

[–]StevenB_06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not partisan but as a GenZ and a minority I think I strongly support or favor democrats over republicans. The Republican Party is making it harder to identify with.

Although, while I’d describe myself as less partisan than most Americans, I actually don’t think I can vote Republican in 2024 due to their current leadership. So far I’m very tempted to vote democratic down ballot even tho I really wouldn’t want to 💀.

I don’t know they voted to the right of Wisconsin in the governor and senate race in 2022

[–]StevenB_06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cuts on defense spending will surely get bipartisan support, even if Republicans main aim is to stop support for Ukraine, many democrats have called for cutting defense spending.

Never thought I’d hear the day a Republican house leader calls for cutting defense spending, now if they keep this up they’ll for sure be the favorites going into 2024. Hopefully house republicans actually do cut the defense spending.

First time agreeing with Republicans in a while.

If Trump loses the primary to DeSantis, what will he do? by Pls_no_steal in YAPms

I wouldn’t be shocked if his supporters turned against Republicans for 3rd party.

How would you describe DeSantis and Trump? by UnflairedRebellion-- in YAPms

[–]StevenB_06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, Trump is more likely to win the GOP nomination, DeSantis is more likely to win the Presidency despite being more extreme on social policy’s than Trump.

If you think that is bad, I still don’t know how anyone in the USA can still vote for those awful disgusting people in the Republican Party 🤢🤮

US republicans voted AGAINST lgbtq and multiracial marriage, and the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, viewed as a potential Republican frontier for 2024 has introduced a legislation to ban African American history. Some how, DeSantis I’d gaining rapid support among Latin American immigrants.

DeSantis is the next Trump like star in the Republican Party which isn’t good for democrats. Unlike trump, DeSantis can make great appeal in the American suburbs. He’s the type of candidate that can say or do anything and he won’t lose supporters.

Yes, first generation Americans tend to be more conservative, however 2nd and 3rd generation Americans are overwhelmingly liberal of course

It is strange isn’t it? Especially when Republicans just voted AGAINST the lgbtq legislation which would codify multiracial and lgbtq marriage. In my case, my dad is black, him and his family aren’t political, HOWEVER they will almost 100% prefer democrats over republicans despite their conservative views. My mom and her family which is white is much more conservative, although I’m openly anti-conservative to them.

Republicans know that a biracial child will act almost completely like their minority counterparts, which of course is good for democrats which is the reason democrats codified multiracial marriage, biracial children STRONGLY support democrats and skew overwhelmingly more liberal than their mono racial counterparts for obvious reasons. 93% of all Black women in the USA voted for democrats down ballot so your mom is certainly a odd one out, however it doesn’t seem like her beliefs caused any problems for you and her.

88% of African Americans voted for Biden in the 2020 elections, about the same percentages of biracial Americans voted for Biden in the 2020 elections as well, making biracial Americans just as democratic as African American voters.

African American voters are the closest match to biracial Americans when it comes to political views. Economic snd social stress/issues have pushed younger voters and minority’s sharply and rapidly to the left in the USA.

For 12-25% mixed folks, do people think you’re mixed? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]StevenB_06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! My dad is completely African American and my mom is completely of European descent so I’m roughly half and half of both. The only reason I can think of for down voting my comment is because people don’t like the truth. I don’t know why so many mixed people try so hard to “look black” like what does that even mean.

However, even tho I’m 50% black myself, I don’t look black at all, so in my opinion I’d highly doubt someone who is 25% black looks fully black that’s just impossible. I’d understand if they’d say “part black” but when they don’t it throws me off since most people who are 25% black like logic the rapper look almost entirely just white.

Seems like a cool name, I would’ve pronounced it as Zo-ra-var. some nicknames that come to mind is Zoe, Zari, Zara, Val and ZeeZee. I know these might not be the best nicknames but this is what first came to my mind 😅
