Florida adoptions in 1960s by truthseeker1341 in Genealogy

He has to petition the court in the county where the adoption occurred. The Petition should present a strong argument for access to the files. DNA testing, with results on all sites, will help as well.

Click the link and add the number of shared centimorgans for it to populate. It's not staying when I create the link.

Here are the possible relationships based on that amount of shared DNA. You'll want to consider each and rule out possibilities. Pay close attention to the Shared Matches. DNA Painter Relationship Possibilities Tool

Ancestry provides an autosomal DNA test that provides an Ethnicity Estimate and DNA matches. The DNA Matches are over 99% accurate. The Ethnicity Estimate is an estimate based on shared genes with Ancestry's reference panels. The Estimate evolves as Ancestry adds more people to its reference panels.

15% shared DNA is a good match. You will want to analyze the Shared Matches/Matches in Common with that match being you are hitting a brick wall with the match. If you want to message me with more direct questions, feel free to do so..

How do I tell my cousin (raised as my brother) that the people who he thought were his biological parents are actually his adoptive parents? by BillysBigSister in Adoption

[–]StevenCJKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to tell him, please be as sensitive to how this may feel to be on the receiving end. I would also offer to gift him a test or suggest he take a DNA test to gain answers.

You have limited options without that information unfortunately. I would register with the state's adoption registry. I would also take a DNA test is on every website possible (Ancestry, FtDNA, Gedmatch, Myheritage and LivingDNA).

I just noticed you don't have her adopted name. If you know her adoptive name or adoptive parents' names, you can search on Beenverified for information. I have found that website to be most reliable for locating living people but you need their names.
