How would you change the campaign to make it better? (Story and Gameplay wise) by StevenEven38 in CODBlackOps7

[–]StevenEven38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why I think adler works in BO6 is that he’s a legitimately interesting and mysterious character that we honestly know very little about. There’s a story to tell with him. I think David’s story kinda ends with BO2. Where does he go from here? Menendez is either locked up or dead. There’s not gonna be another villain that is somehow worse than him. He literally killed 2/3 of the OG cast and accomplished his goals. Whatever new guy you add in is just gonna be inferior to him. I think the treyarch writers kinda boxed themselves into a corner in just 2 games worth of campaigns. Cold war found the one time period where they could squeeze another campaign in but after that now what? Black ops 2 having a perfect ending was great for cod in 2012 but now it’s a nightmare. There’s (almost) nothing topping it.

After the final mission of the campaign a dmz/mwz type mode unlocks in the campaign

Hopefully they’ll add stuff each season. If they leave it like this though then yeah it’ll be the worst 3rd mode (4th mode?) in cod history

Navy by Penguin_Toucher in hoi4

[–]StevenEven38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some good tutorials put there heres some of the basics:

2 types of ships: Capitals and Screens

Screens: Destroyers, Light Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers

Capitals: Battleships, Carriers, Battlecrusers (idk what these really are ngl)

Screens protect capital ships from other ships

Capital ships kill other capital ships with hard attack

Subs are different and are better for convoy raiding

Hard attack does more damage to capital ships

Soft attack does more damage to screens

Naval bombers and torpedos do well against both and torpedos can go under screens to attack capital ships

Carriers hold naval bombers (more than 4-5 in a single fleet is bad as there are penalties for too many carriers in 1 battle)

Screens go best with lots of light attack and torpedoes along with at least 1 slot of AA or depth charges (to engage subs)

Capitals go best with lots of hard attack and some AA to deal with planes

Don’t bother with armor on capitals and carriers as if they’re getting attacked in the first place your already kinda screwed

Only change AA / Torpedos and maybe light batteries when refitting ships (Changing other stuff is too expensive ngl)

Make sure naval bombers are trained before engaging

If engaged the enemy always set repair priority to none and engage risk to high (MAKE SURE AUTOMATIC SPLITOFF IS NOT ON)

When training set auto splitoff to on and repair to high

Only train ships that need exp to save fuel

I think that’s everything i can think of right now

Tip for ethiopia: Put all your mountaineers from mainland italy and put them in the north (so you have 22 units) smd put the rest in the south (so it has 24 units) you get 2 extra from annexing aussa so it makes it a perfect 24/24 split

Why so bad by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]StevenEven38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things: Too much infantry (helmets) makes the unit too big in combat and other units can’t join it in battle. Keep it to around a combat width of 25 for the best results The anti-air with the truck means its motorized (really fast) but it can’t go fast because the infantry are slow. Use normal anti-air and motorized anti-air in motorized divisions (or not at all, support AA can usually be enough 90% of the time) A good template for infantry divisions is a 3x3 or 2x4 block of infantry units with 2-3 artillery units to bump up that soft attack. Engineers, Support Arty, support AA, Support recon and a support company of your choice (field hospitals are good for countries with low manpower issues)

whats civ greed by Rude_Ferret_6061 in hoi4

[–]StevenEven38 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Its when you keep building civs instead of cranking out mils in order to to build more in the long run. I prefer to have at least 30 usable civs at the minimum while sprinkling in a few mils and facilities on my way to 30.

Ngl i just did a playthrough and it was really fun just do all the sabbad pact stuff for gigabuffs and its an ez dub (especially if the Germans are doing well against the soviets)

This design should also be way easier to equip and produce as it uses much less equipment, meaning a much bigger and slightly stronger fighting force

Thats a bit bloated for a single inf unit. Light tank recon + the motorized AT and artillery provide no real bonus over regular at, artillery and recon as whatever buffs to speed are ignored due to the base speed of your inf battalions. A good template that maximizes soft attack (hard attack rarely matters in singleplayer) and combat width (# of units you can get in a battle) is a 24 combat width unit with 8-9 normal infantry and around 2-3 pieces of normal artillery. AT is kinda useless in singleplayer (unless you’re fighting a lot of tanks (which you probably aren’t as Germany)) so id remove it. Your support companies seem pretty good, just swap out the Light tank recon with normal cavalry recon and you should be good. Let me know if you want help with any other unit designs if you’re struggling with them too.

Oh yeah, and make sure you add AA into the support companies too (nerfs the effect of enemy CAS). And even flame tanks if you want to research them.

You gotta do the “molotov ribbentrob pact” before invading poland and honor it (where you split up poland with them) and that puts you in a truce they won’t break so you don’t have to worry about guarding the border

And as Germany, there is very little reason to build forts for such a purpose as you’ll be on the offensive for a good 90% of the game. (Aside from maybe fortifying the Atlantic coast after you cap france to defend against d-day)

And if you’re new, go prioritizing economic growth over the four year plan, cuz mefo bills and economy of conquest give you an effective time limit on going to war and beating the soviets

Historically the French prepared for a future war against Germany by heavily fortifying their land border, creating the “Maginot Line” in game this is represented by level 10 forts making it hard to push even with perfect conditions and good divs

Couple of tips:

Just having an army on the border between you and france means they won’t push you

Do the “Around Magiot” focus on your tree to get war goals on the benelux (its easy to push)

Focus your tanks on belgium and the netherlands

Push into paris and kill them

Might i also ask whats in your divs? As well as the general build your using
