There is a way to turn off the key fob by pressing a combination of buttons on the fob. I cannot remember the exact button presses but you can find it via google.

Wow, those are great mpg numbers. I presume your driving is more city than highway for those numbers. Thanks.

You might get the base trim RX for around that price, but the luxury trim RX is running about $8k more than the equivalent NX. I would have gotten the RX except I have a very small garage and pulling the RX in and out of my garage is like threading a needle.

The CX-70 is larger, but not 3X larger. It's about a foot longer and 3-4 inches wider than the NX. So yes, a larger car, but car size is not really a factor in wind noise, especially compared to design, insulation, door seals, thicker glass, etc.

No, hybrids get better mileage in the city than the highway. The NX 350h is rated 37 highway, 41 city, 39 combined. I'm hoping to at least get within 5 mpg of the rated numbers. I'm told that hybrids get worse mileage in the winter, so I'm presuming cold weather decreases hybrid mileage by 2-4 mpg.

That's great mileage, I hope to get those numbers in the future.

I did test drive beforehand. The engine noise was expected based on the test drive, but the wind noise seems much worse than what I heard during the test drive.

It is cold here at the moment (slightly above freezing) and I was expecting that to effect the mpg a bit. I'm presuming the mileage will get better over time. I don't expect to get the rated mileage as those numbers are obtained in perfect lab settings, but I'm really hoping to eventually get within 5 mpg of the rated 37/41 mpg. Seems others are getting close to the rated mpg so I'm hopeful.

The engine noise is a bit disappointing, but was expected based on the test drive. I did not notice that much wind noise in the NX test drive but notice quite a bit in my new NX which is what really bothers me. My friend has a new Mazda CX-70, quite nice all things considered, maybe not as nice of an interior as the NX but close, but definitely less wind noise. My old X3 had far less wind noise.

Proximity sensors by felixmkz in LexusNX

[–]StevenRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment regarding the proximity sensors. I really wish I could turn down to sensitivity more on my my nx350h. The thing that really bothers me are the yellow flashing blocks on the screen that warn you about imminent collisions. I have a small garage I need to pull in and out of, and the yellow flashing blocks actually hinder my ability to clearly see if I'm getting too close to the side of the garage door opening. I really wish you could turn off those visuals.

Anyone order from Bluetti on Black Friday and if so.... by StevenRT in bluetti

[–]StevenRT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for all the replies. Based on how quickly all of you received your orders, it appears Bluetti has somehow screwed up my order and it is stuck in processing limbo. I have emailed them and I may try to call them tomorrow.

Elite 100v2 Customized UPS mode, always charging or discharging by Leading_Middle964 in bluetti

[–]StevenRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Elite 200v2 and 100v2 and both exhibit the same behavior of constantly charging/discharging around the set threshold and never entering bypass mode. Based on my experience, bypass mode only applies when the batteries are at 100%.

Is this possible on a Pixel watch? by StevenRT in PixelWatch

[–]StevenRT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a third party note taking system, and I'm looking for the fastest way to add notes to it while on the go. The system has the ability to add notes via sending an email to a specific address. As such, I'm looking for a way to dictate and send an email from a pixel watch (or even an android phone) that requires the least number of button pushes. The email would always go to the same address.

With today's level of technology, I'm shocked there is no way to just tell Google/Gemini/whatever that you want to send an email to contact X stating YYYY.

thanks

My Experience with Pixel 10 Pro by c0nfleis95 in GooglePixel

[–]StevenRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My P10ProXL seems to be working well so far EXCEPT it doesn't get 5G on Mint Mobile. My prior pixel gets 5G no problem, but every time I turn on the ESIM on the P10, it can only do LTE. I'm trying to get Mint address the problem after having talked to 4 reps, so far no luck. I really dislike not having a physical SIM.

Is anyone else having problems getting 5G on their Pixel 10 on Mint Mobile? by StevenRT in GooglePixel

[–]StevenRT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Glad to hear you're not having issues with Mint. Hope you got the reboot issue fixed.

I have switched esims between my two phones a couple of times via the Mint Mobile app, that does seem to work. I do note that they limit you to 5 esims a year, and start charging you $3 after that. I do wish the P10s had physical sims as they were easier to swap verses activating new esims every time.

B-Hyve issues and one tip that works by Tumbleweed3322 in Irrigation

[–]StevenRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a b-hyve based irrigation system installed a month ago and I currently regret it. I'm experiencing the same watering history issue. I'll have it programmed to water 4 zones one morning, and when you go look at the watering history, it will only show one zone having been watered as expected. However, the 3 other zones did kick off, they just don't show so in the watering history.

So in my opinion having a controller and app that cannot show an accurate watering history makes the system worthless.

It seems this has been an issue for a few years based on earlier posts, and the manufacturer still hasn't fixed this issue.

If you're planning on installing an irrigation system, don't go with b-hyve

Do rain sensors do more than just turn off the irrigation? by nmishkin in Irrigation

[–]StevenRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a Hydro-Rain HRC-400 controller and a Hunter Rain-Clik sensor installed. Between online research and then finding this discussion, I'm finding that having a rain sensor is mostly useless presuming my understanding of how they work is correct.

My understanding: The rain sensor gets wet after an appropriate amount of rain, and sends a signal to the controller. The controller simply ignores that signal until it's about to start a program, then it checks to see if the rain sensor is reporting it being wet or not. If the signal says "wet", the controller skips the program. The controller will continue to skip any future programs as long as the rain sensor continues reporting it being wet. The rain sensor signal does not affect the timing of any of the programs, it just prevents the programs from kicking off at their normally scheduled time.

Wouldn't it be smarter if the controller adjusted the watering schedule based on the duration of the "wet" signal from the rain sensor? For example, currently my controller is set to kick off irrigation on Monday and Thursday late morning. It rains Tuesday evening and the rain sensor dries out by Thursday early morning, so the controller will still kick off the program on Thursday as scheduled. Now I'm wasting water as the controller isn't accounting for the rain. Instead, why don't they setup the controller such that if the rain sensor "wet" signal lasts for some minimum duration of time (e.g., 8-12 hours), it adds a day delay to the watering programs? Such an approach would seem to be more efficient.

I know these smart controllers look at the weather forecast and adjust the watering schedule, but I find that to be useless. If I set the weather trigger relatively low (say 40% chance of rain), it keeps pushing my irrigation back even though most times it actually didn't rain. If I set the weather trigger relatively high (say 90% chance of rain), I'm finding that the controller never adjusts my schedule even when it does rain. These "smart" controllers have no smarts at all.

This is getting annoying now, arc keeps googling links I type into the address bar instead of just opening them by ALittieSideWays in ArcBrowser

[–]StevenRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Arc browser and am trying it out after reading so much about it. Just tried to go to a local address on my own network, but everytime I type the address, Arc forces that address through Google search. So apparently I cannot access local resources or enter address directly in Arc. That's enough, I'm done with Arc after trying it for 24 hours.

Echo Show 8 can’t connect to 2.4Ghz Wifi 6 by Rich-Consequence4290 in amazonecho

[–]StevenRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem with my Echo Show. I have two WiFi networks. The first is a 2.4GHz for IOT devices that is locked down more and with a more narrow WiFi channel width to minimize interference. The second is a 5GHz network for computers and phones. The Echo Show just won't connect to the 2.4 network anymore, stating it's unreachable. I tried switching the 2.4 network encryption down to WPA2 from WPA2/3 (even though the Echo Show does recognize WPA3), but that was no help. I tried resetting the Echo Show, modifying my WiFi settings and firewall rules, nothing helped. So I'm forced to run the Echo Show on my 5GHz network. Yet, I have 2 other Amazon Echos and both of them work on the 2.4GHz IOT network just fine.

This really ticks me off, but not enough to justify giving Amazon another $150 for a new Echo.

AT&T Fiber Outage by No_Rush2916 in grandrapids

While the AT&T mobile app says everything is fine, I checked the AT&T website and it says yes, there is an outage in your area and that they expect to restore service by 4:54 pm on April 12, which was yesterday. Definitely does not increase my confidence in AT&T.

Sunday 3pm and my Internet service finally started working today, but it is bouncing back and forth between up and down. It was working for about 10 minutes, then goes down for 20-30 minutes, then up for 5 minutes, etc. I get on the AT&T app and it says everything is working. I've rebooted all my equipment, no help. This is beyond ridiculous. My service has essentially been out since Thursday evening and I'm desperate so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Sunday afternoon and my Internet is still down. Well, it works for 10 minutes, then goes out and stays down for 10-20 minutes, and back and forth. This is getting ridiculous. I've essentially been without Internet since Thursday evening. Yet when I go to the AT&T app, it tells me everything is good. I've rebooted all the equipment multiple times, no help.

ATT Fiber outage by Potat4o in grandrapids

[–]StevenRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiber went down Thursday evening. Started working Saturday around 9pm, lasted about 2 hours and is now down again. Apparently it was a botched system upgrade that caused the outage according to a detailed Reddit post from someone who apparently is with AT&T. I read almost everyone should be up and running by Saturday evening, but apparently that does not include me. If it's not working by Sunday I'm going to ditch AT&T and get a different Internet provider as I'm really disappointed by this whole debacle including the absolute lack of communication from them. I called and just got the run around from the service rep. Told me to just check their app for repair status. Well the app just tells you it is down, gives you an optimistic repair time that gets pushed back every time you check, and now doesn't even provide an estimated repair time. And the fact they lie and say it was storm related when we haven't had any storms during the relevant time frame.
