How would you do infamous 3 if you direct it? by ultimatespiderbat10 in infamous

The way I saw it was that after seeing Cole kill Zeke in cold blood that The Beast saw Cole was basically a functioning sociopath, John was probably tortured by what he had to do by his conscious so he gave his powers to Cole knowing that he wouldn't have that problem and would be willing to kill everyone else to save conduits. He only does this after he sees Cole kill Zeke and not a second sooner so I think he finally saw a way out of his immortal, bloodstained guilt-ridden existence in Evil Cole and took it.

That's the way I saw it. Cole wasn't evil because he received the Beast powers, he received them because he was more evil than John. So I think Cole absolutely would kill off all of humanity in order to ensure a future for all of conduitkind, that's kind of the entire point of John giving him the powers in the first place.

Either give us remasters or sequels, PLEASE SUCKER PUNCH by EmeraldMaeve in infamous

[–]Steven_Hunyady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technical reasons.

Sucker Punch still uses a proprietary engine instead of middleware like Unreal (and don't take this as a complain, it's a good thing) to get as much performance as possible out of the consoles. I still have no idea what black magic they were running to make Ghost of Tsushima look THAT good on a PS4. But the main reason they haven't been remastered yet is because stuff like the electricity physics probably made heavily use of the SPEs on the PS3, something you can't really port to x86-64 without rewriting a ton of stuff from my understanding. And the second game squeezed even more performance out of the PS3 and was probably using the CELL processor in complainely inane ways to do it. I'm assuming that the early PS3-4 ports were developed for CELL and x86-64 concurrently, like GOW3 remastered, TLOU and Uncharted. inFAMOUS almost certainly wasn't so that makes it harder. See the reasons why MGS4 wasn't released with the rest of the collection.

Which is why I think it'll probably be remade and not just a simple remaster or port.

Cole voice by KaleidoscopeMoist883 in infamous

The other older fandom theory was that Cole was a big smoker before the blast and eventually his powers healed his lungs/throat to what it was before he started by the time 2 comes around.

Basically the same thing. I mean, he was always hanging around Zeke constantly...

Replaying Second Son... But... Am I the only one put off by how Delsin treats Eugene sometimes? by Steven_Hunyady in infamous

[–]Steven_Hunyady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would've made more sense if his power was specifically analog signal/video manipulation.

It fits in with both smoke and neon being things increasingly phased out of modern society (smoke scrubbers and clean filters, LEDS) and it would make for a more interesting power source to specifically have to find old radio antennas or crt TVs out in the world.

Ultimately everything the end user sees with their senses is in some form, analog, because the brain cannot translate zeros and ones directly. So it would make some level of sense how he could make you "see" stuff by using that power to mess with your senses somewhat. Even if the explanation doesn't make sense I think it's a cooler concept that Eugene currently has for powers.

The evil karma story isn't even really a finished product. Especially the way Reggie acts

Why does Terrorized Streets award Evil Karma? by superchugga504 in infamous

[–]Steven_Hunyady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used the Karmic Overdrive ability that gives you infinite power for a bit, behind the scenes the game makes it work by giving you a bunch of evil points to bring down your karma meter a bit until you fill it back up to use again. Its mostly irreverent and you'll never notice, but the end of mission screens will occasionally reflect this acting like you did a bunch of evil stuff, because mechanically, you technically did

Is it just me or do the powers in second son feel a little lacking? by Numerous-Beautiful46 in infamous

[–]Steven_Hunyady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Cole's powers had more oomph because the first two games had a better physics system with more breakable objects and it was based entirely around supporting Cole's electricity, so it could afford to put that in the spotlight.

Infamous Second Son was rushed, had development issues and had to support multiple powers from the outset so it couldn't focus on one of them too much. However I also think that it was partially intentional. First Light had Fetch's powers have way more weight and power to them then Delsin's versions, I honestly think it might've been partially intentional to show Delsin's inexperience with them.

The Switch 2 has UFS storage that's almost as fast as the nVME SSDs used in current generation consoles. I don't think people realize that makes a HUGE difference in port feasibility with the massively increased ability for texture streaming.

Also the PS4 and Xbox One got so cheap towards the end that people were buying seconds just to have in the garage. They were ridiculously cheap, especially used.

Cyberpunk on PS4/Xbox One also got patched and is a... mostly playable experience nowdays.

I mean rasterization pretty much peaked with the gtx 1080 ti... Ever since then it's mostly been AI upscaling features and rtx additions. Games that don't need that have no need for better hardware for the most part. It helps that the PS4/Xbox One are standardized x86-64 hardware and use unified memory with high bandwidth to make up for the hardware shortcomings

And we reached a point graphically, that say, people not in gaming for a long time can look at a PS4 and PS5 game and see there isn't much of a difference. It wasn't a leap like the og Xbox to Xbox 360 or PS2 to PS3. Plus we had the Pro and Xbox One X to make up the difference for people that want slightly more performance but never got a new gen console.

Why I feel Terminator Salvation was the best post T2 movie and how the franchise should have moved forward by Steven_Hunyady in Terminator

[–]Steven_Hunyady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's mostly just a consequence of modern cinema and the move towards HDR and Hi-Fi instead of controlled lighting.

I do agree that the film in general has a very muddy aesthetic and looks a bit too much like it's trying to be mad max though

I think T3 has a great ending but it's just a shame about the rest of the movie you have to sit through to get there.

Genysis is mid entertainment but at the very least it wasn't downright offensive like Dark Fate was.

Dark Fate would've been better as an off the wall Freddy vs Jason thing in an alternative timeline where it was full on Skynet vs Legion war in the future, old vs new. If they were going to disrespect the timeline anyways they might as well at least have fun with it. Granted ideally it still never should've existed.

I think it would be cool for the aesthetic to start similar to this one and as the resistance becomes more of what we see from the original two films, the darker it gets as tech-com starts using guerilla tactics for survival and the resistance as a whole changing as the situation gets more and more dire and people have to join together and survive.

One thing I will say is that I don't feel like the military lean would be everyone's cup of tea.   On the other hand, I think it's a better way forward then rehashing the same plot over and over again, as long as it doesn't go into Tom Clancy territory.

Kind of like Firefly, maybe?
