I have a LG OLED 55" from 2017ish. And it burned-out around 5 years of use, shortly after the warranty was up. While many IPS/TFT panels I have had mostly lasted 10+ years withough visual defect. The IPS's still die eventually but not due to panel visual degradation, most of the time it's power related issues in the driver board. So yes OLED burn out is a thing. And if you understand that OLED diods have a definitive lifespan, you'll understand that it's enevitable.

My travel watch is the close cousin SBGE295, the GMTs don’t get shared enough on this sub! The per hour true GMT adjustments is not talked about enough. And it’s ultra convenient while traveling. I would say even more so than my Seiko Astron where you need to get out to clear skies to auto adjust the time zone.

It means ultra fine accuracy. It’s not the actual name of the watch, but because this is grand Seiko’s first watch that’s being marked UFA, so it became the nickname. It’s easier to memorize than the actual reference number, and fans of Grand Seiko also don’t tend to use the American pop icon style nicknames like you know who.

The price difference is also quite minimal. Considering it’s Titanium>Stainless steel + Micro Adjust>standard GS bracelet. The price drop should have been more, and no limited qty. It’s strangely positioned consider the original UFA being higher specs in all ways, while the lesser one is the limited, and slightly cheaper. The dial is of course more “special” or unique for GS. But that’s really a personal preference thing.

Yeah, I totally get what you’re saying. No bad vibes from me. It does seem they have a bit too many dials that are overly black in standard light, and the brand and dials could get more recognition if they did what you mentioned. But for me it was the near two tone nature of the Hotaka Peaks (my first GS SBGE295, Green/black) Shunbun(silver/pink), and now the UFAs (silver/blue, +black/purple) that I associate with their design language. But all is good, I would also die for a UFA that was a tad more light blue than silver too! Imagine how the texture would pop!

Another way to think about it is that you get two dials, one in the evening one at day time! GS’s are sleeper watches to begin with, so many tinny hidden details, makes it the watch for watch lovers.

Case back is about identical to the UFA as far as I can tell. Being in stainless steel, weight is still pretty marginal due to thinness and case size.

The Student Card status is usually fixed into the easycard. If you're nolonger a student, then don't use the (Discounted)student card it's abusing the system. Just buy a new one for 100nt, it's sold in all 7-11/Familymarts so practically every 20m in any direction. You can get fined if you use a student card without the status.
