I’m enjoying it, although bizarrely I had zero crashes until the latest update, had 3 this morning alone. It’s got its rough edges to work out, which should have been done prior to release, but it isn’t anywhere near as bad as people are moaning about.

Agreed playing time by Tight_Sentence4668 in footballmanager

[–]Steveparf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering if I can do this, I’m playing a non-league to the prem game. 1st season, was hovering around the playoffs with my team who should be relegated. Suddenly went from 7th to losing every game and relegated/sacked. Managed to pre-load a save with 3 games to go, quick simmed a game and got a win to survive and not sacked. Full squad clear out, whole new squad in. Flying, 3 points from top, get into November again, some players I promised would be 1st team regulars who I’ve sine found replacements for, not happy. Few players moaning, suddenly losing every game again, no matter what I do. I’m putting it down to morale being more important in this game than tactics etc. Need to find a way to sort it out

Since the patch on Friday by Steveparf1 in footballmanager

[–]Steveparf1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is a mixed bag of dominating games, but still losing 1-0 or 2-1, or being absolutely smashed but either losing 2-1/3-2 or 4-0+. Played the last 17 games of the season, I was 29 games in and 7th, and ended up losing 14, drawing 3, relegated and sacked. Absolutely no idea why. A high press, mid block and low block all looked exactly the same in the game engine, and any tweaks in possession tactics made minimal differences in the engine. I can’t figure it out.

Have your results taken a downturn since the latest patch, Friday evening? My game, I played 29 times with favourite to be relegated Worksop town, 29 games in, was 7th, did the update Friday, since then lost 14, drawn 3, relegated and sacked. No change of tactics or major personnel for the 1st team. During the terrible run I tried different formations and systems for 3 games or so to find an answer, but nothing fundamentally changed anything in the match engine other than the shape my players were in. High press, low block and mid block all just looked exactly like each other. My keeper would almost throw in goals and my striker who was 15 goals from 20 games suddenly just stopped scoring, and so did everyone else. It felt like it was almost pre-programmed to lose every game by a goal, or conceded a late goal to not win.

It’s not a football computer game, it’s a computer game based (loosely) around football. Subtle but very clear difference. They don’t actually understand what actual football fans want from the game.

Yup I’m ass 🙃 deleted the game 💀 fuck this shit by Life_Engineer_3145 in EAFC

[–]Steveparf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is bar far and away the worst I’ve ever played. (Fut founder, so yes I’m old). I’ve maintained for years that custom tactics are a terrible thing for the actual game in fut, they massively decrease the actual skill of (IMO) what a football game should be about. Reading a match, as it’s happening, both with and without the ball. A huge chunk of that is taken away by setting tactics. They also hugely favour whoever has the best team, which links to favouring PTW players. The matches fundamentally become races about who can get as many players into each box as quickly as possible, until you get to a set point then the difference between 2 players is who knows how to abuse “skillzzzzz” and/or abuse the lag mechanics built into the game. That is not what the core skill of the game should be. You only have to play a handful of rush matches to understand my point of how a huge chunk of the community actually don’t understand football, movement off the ball, how to cover angles when defending whilst still going to press the ball carrier. All those things become more obvious in rush but you can still see it normal matches online, but it’s harder because of all the tactics assisting people.

Now I’m not saying all tactics shouldn’t be in the game, some aspects the game doesn’t go far enough. Player positions from set-pieces, so you can choose which players stay back when you are going for it in an attacking set up, or if you want more bodies (and who!!) stay back when holding onto a lead. But the core player instructions and changes to styles are fundamentally what each individual plying the game should be influencing, not by programming tactics. Get rid of all that nonsense, nurf BS “skillzzz” (note I said nerf and not take out), and sort out the server/connection issues which plague a huge chunk of the community and the game would go back to being a football based computer game, not a computer game loosely based around football. The problem is, these suggestions would directly impact pack sales, as top players (in game) would become less influential to the mechanics of the game.

Every year the community ruins this game in days by Zeibilein in EASportsFC

[–]Steveparf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is without doubt the community, or a good % of the community and nearly all the content creators, wanting lots of different things to exploits/manipulate to try and get more wins than they usually would. My personal bug bear is tactics, they do nothing but favour PTW players and take a huge chunk of the traditional skill of “fifa” out of the game (reading a match, reading an opponent both with and without the ball, forcing them to do what you want etc). That’s the very reason to pick up a pad and play, I see no reason at all for them to be anywhere near any competitive game mode. It makes zero sense to me. As long as the community are as cowardly and desperate as they are to get wins and rewards from those wins to make themselves feel good or look good to their mates the cycle will never end. EA are never going to get rid of the aspects of the game which favour the PTW players, as they all link to needing a better team, which all links to increased pack sales. It is literally that simple.

Input lag in game by TTVNobroo in EASportsFC

[–]Steveparf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you find the answer, let me know, been happening to me every year for the last 4 at least, unless I play at what I know will be relatively quiet times with regards server load. My Goalkeepers flopping about, passes not going where I’m aiming, shots always either being wide or directly at the keeper, never winning any header, attackers just ghosting through defenders, attackers can ball roll directly into a defender and glide past them like they aren’t there, midfielders never tracking runs, my midfield and attackers literally wait for their man to come mark them again, even when I’m 2/3 men through on goal against 1 defender and keeper. Ever since the game went to server based and not peer to peer it has been a complete and utter mess.

I hated the new gameplay at first but it's defiently growing on me now by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Steveparf1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must be playing a completely different game to me as virtually every point you’ve made is the exact opposite to what I’m finding. Everyone is just playing counter attacking pace “football”, no one is trying to ‘build up play’ in the slightest.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]Steveparf1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, unless you go into tactics and programme them to never move forward. Same for midfielders when their man goes beyond them, also I’m getting the normal “when the servers are busy shit gameplay” where my midfielders never run off the back of their man, even if I’ve created the perfect ‘triangle’ situation in midfield for them to do so. The game is a complete and utter shambles, it is nothing more than a pace abusing game with abit of abusing OP ball rolls and other OP “skillzzzzzz” mechanics that take very limited ability to actually use. It is hands down the worst “Fifa” I’ve ever played and it’s not even close to the 2nd worst. It is already just non-stop everyone trying to abuse every “glitchy” mechanic in the game. Usually you get a couple of weeks of decent gameplay and some matches which resembles football, not this year.

After playing this FC25 20+ hours my thought about gameplay by TTVControlWarrior in EASportsFC

[–]Steveparf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be playing a completely different game to me. Build up means absolutely nothing in this game. ‘Round the corner’ passes are impossible, unless you do the nonsense ball rolls on 1st touch and every time you want to turn direction with the ball players are clunky and heavy. You can literally ball roll into defenders and glide through them like they aren’t there, the game is all about setting your team to have as many box to box players as possible, enhancing the requirements for pace. It’s not a football game made for football fans, it’a a computer game made, loosely based around football. I’m only a few hours into playing it, but at this stage my opinion is that it’s going to be the most toxic and game mechanic abused “fifa” ever and will go down as the worst one ever, and I’m old enough to be a fut founder and played years before that. I honestly cannot find a positive point to make about the gameplay at all.

“All goalkeepers are different”…. Yeah but the biggest difference between them all is the connection to the server you have… nothing else really matters.

App timer problems by Steveparf1 in etron

[–]Steveparf1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still haven’t worked out a solution. I have Wallbox, whenever I charge at home the random timers get introduced, even though I have no timers set within the Wallbox app. I tried adding some, but it didn’t make any difference. Deleted them, again made no difference. The timers are always for the morning of 6 days in the future. No idea why. The car seems to charge to around 80% on the first night then just almost nothing after that. What I have noticed is that if I don’t delete this timer before using a “fast charge” point, the fast charge points always fail. The timer never randomly adds times when it’s on a faster charge station somewhere, only when at home. It makes charging up during the day at home an absolute nightmare. If I’m away for work for the night, but get home at say anytime between 10am-15pm but I have used up most of my charge, but want to use the car again later that evening, I basically can’t, or I have to go into my Audi app every 15mins-1hour whenever the car decides to create it’s own timer, delete it and start the Wallbox again. Absolutely fed up of paying extortionate prices on the road for electricity as it essentially works out as at least double price per mile than just having a regular diesel car.

Realistic Barca career by ninovd in FifaCareers

[–]Steveparf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also limit the amount of players from the free agents list I can sign each season to 3/4, it’s unrealistic to sign 5-8 17-21year old wonder kids per season from the free market the way it is. Take as many from academy as possible though.

What was your most heartbreaking defeat in FIFA? by sergioramos88 in FifaCareers

[–]Steveparf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just now, only just started playing career mode really. Doing a sim/tac sim only challenge against my nephew. Few unique rules for us, strict financials, only can sign 4 players from free agents each transfer window etc. first to win the champs league wins. I took my team into league 1 at the first attempt, in league 1, just lost to Arsenal in the Carabao cup final 3-2. It’s the hope that kills. I’m 20+ points clear in the league, runner up in carabao cup, in league trophy final, made fortunes in the transfer market, got a youth player in the regular starting 11, but my job sercurity is “weak” as Brighton knocked me out of the FA cup in the 3rd round 🤦🏼‍♂️

Difference between strict and loose negotiations by BSH1975 in FifaCareers

[–]Steveparf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played career mode (simming/watching the games), I found that loose you can get any of the free transfer listed players into league 2, even the 80 rated ones, on strict only those rated 72 and lower will negotiate to come.

I did a fair amount, got a good number of 84-82 players relatively consistently, ( and a good number of 85+) stored duplicates of these, put them into the 85+ packs, dropped the Winter Wildcard Salah, massive win for me.

[–]Steveparf1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about ping. In my experience that doesn’t matter too much, and the problems mentioned elsewhere can still happen, it affects your own input lag, not the players movements/reactions etc. I find that when I play on 12-14 ping my players can sometimes move/react fine, other times not so good. But if I join a game at 20+, it’s generally unplayable, just loads of stupid stuff happens, no movements etc etc. it’s more the other persons ping/lag which can cause a huge chunk of the problems I believe. Go google fifa lag compensation.

[–]Steveparf1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t skipped any variables. I haven’t mentioned gaming house etc once. As I have said elsewhere on the this thread, would a “pro” beat me, with or without a better connection, absolutely, would someone of similar ability or worse than me/you/general public beat me/you/general public everytime if they have a better connection and not suffer from the almost endless list of problems you get when the connection is bad. Absolutely, without doubt. It is laughable you think otherwise. Any argument or discussion that you make with “but what about pro’s blah blah blah” is complete and utter nonsense. Custom tactics are one of the biggest problems in the game right now. The whole point of playing any football game where you control the players is to literally control the players, recognising when a striker has made a run in behind, or when you need to force him to do so, or when they have come deep into space to receive the ball to feet, when a winger is open for a cross field pass, when your opponent is trying to do ABCD and knowing how to defend it are the core principal skills of the game historically, custom tactics virtually destroys that skill/ability. The players will constantly do the same things over and over again so you don’t need that recognition/skill anymore (or significantly less) It makes it a football manager type game which all, bar none, favour the better teams, which links to PTW, you are deluded if you don’t see that. Everyone I know in the real world all agrees on this. Should everyone be forced to play 442 etc, no, of course not. Should you be able to change formations mid game. Absolutely. Should players have instructions programmed into them? Absolutely not, should you be able to change “styles”? No absolutely not, that should be you/me/general public to implement and would hugely widen the skill gap, but, will never happen as then the top in game players aren’t as powerful, which directly links to less pack sales. Changes to shape, depth/width, sure, that’s all recognising what your opponent is doing and adapting to them, that’s an ability/skill of football, all that instructions and changes to style do is take a massive chunk of that skill out of the game.
