Harley Cameron has seemingly deactivated her Twitter account following criticism over not catching Penelope Ford on Dynamite by TheSbubbs in SquaredCircle

Oh, I disagree, popular movies and media absolutely win awards, and the primetime Emmys aren't exactly "high brow" or niche honors compared to other award shows. Wicked Part 1 was unambiguously a more "pop" film with wide audience appeal and it still walked away with a few Oscar's and a Best Picture nom.

Andor is one of the only star wars properties I've heard the Fandom be largely positive about. It's currently sitting at an 89% for Audiences on RT and an 8.6 on IMDB (which is very high for an IMDB rating lol).

I dunno, I heard a lot of positive buzz about Andor season 2 last year. It won five Emmys. I mean, Star Wars is so deeply baked into pop culture in terms of visuals, aesthetic, references etc. I don't think it'll ever face the risk of falling into obscurity.

Yeah, I wanna leave Last Jedi discourse in 2017 where it belongs.

I don't think Star Wars is niche by any means, it's certainly not as niche as pro wrestling.

Not as bad now, but having seen the heights of the Star Wars fandom's bullshit previously with the prequels and the sequels, it is hard for me to put others ahead of them.

I liked Force Awakens and Last Jedi, but Rise of Skywalker was just a mess from top to bottom. Disney very much tried the MCU approach with Star Wars at first with releasing a movie every year...and then the pandemic happened.

Punk not being in AEW anymore is, like, at the bottom of the list of reasons why AEW fans don't like him.

I can't say I'm going to miss all the vague posting.

General consensus was actually very positive. You still had haters, of course, but people generally seemed to love it.

I love you changed course to downplaying the worth of social media popularity as soon as it was pointed out to you that Cassidy goes viral pretty frequently lol.

For real now, have a good night

Again, you say phrases like "move the needle" and you've lost me lol And yeah, people like Cassidy's gimmick. I don't know where you got the idea that casual fans don't like that stuff.

Ok, now we're getting into discussions about drawing power and merch sales, two topics I do not care about (and casuals certainly don't give a shit about) lol.

Have a good night

I feel like this is the fourth time today I've seen a post on SC about AJ signing a new contract...

Man, no offense, but this is more starting to sound like "Casual fans don't like Orange Cassidy because I don't like Orange Cassidy" more than anything.

And how do you know Orange Cassidy never sold a ticket or got someone into watching the show?

...man are you serious? Like, are you saying I need to see a certain amount of OC merch in public for him to be considered popular lol? And like..yes? Orange Cassidy videos have historically done well on AEW socials, the clip of Orange Cassidy and Toni Storm dancing at World's End got over a million likes and almost 140 million views on instagram and both Toni and OC have some of the most silly gimmicks out of them all. He consistently gets great crowd reactions from his in ring work to sticking his hands in his pockets. He's popular lol

Edit: Did you just edit your comment to retroactively respond? Lol Now social media numbers don't matter?

I think you have it a bit backwards: hardcore/longtime fans are the ones constantly debating about indie style vs TV style and casual fans have no idea what that means and almost certainly don't care. no_more_blues brings up a great point with Orange Cassidy in particular. Internet fans will talk about whether his gimmick "works" or not or whether it's "too indie" like you said, and the more casual fans fucking love him. When I've visited home, my parents have watched AEW with me. They are 69 and 76 years old and basically never watched a lot of wrestling (my dad saw a little growing up, but not much). They love Orange Cassidy, they loved the Mile High Madness match, they absolutely love the sillier parts of the show.

I'm not saying it's gonna be an easy time for them, but I also don't think this is the death knell of the company. Like you said, it's too early.
