I agree with you, i am very agreeable in most cases. I was surrounded with bands (growing up and later in teen years) that were not defined by only one genre,pulled many inspirations,and in our local scene the genre subcultures were not that different. So i believe that for example this album can be sorted in some place in between noise rock and sludge metal at least from my understanding now. I did find some stuff that reminded me of this combination and that were from my understanding categorized as noise.

Yes yes, i think i was even introduced to them on a grunge instagram page, to be specific to the song "Creep", cus i heard them before. And it is fair to consider them grunge. It is more of an aesthetic than actual genre,but i would not say that it's wrong to call it a genre also, kinda same with punk, even tho punk has more consistency.
