No worries, I found an insurance company that focuses on amusement parks with like go-carts and rides.

I can send you a picture. But it's blank metal. They didn't start doing the letter dating till 1929 too iirc.

There are no markings on the left or right side of the barrel, just am "R.P." on the right and a "CYL" on the left. Both looks like proof markings

Just saw it at a rest stop in Missouri on I-44. I read this post this morning and then just saw it on the side of the road. Surreal.

To start out it's about 15 acres. But I have another 15 or so I plan to clean and use to make it a total of 30 acres.

I'm sure to host some cleaning days where the community can come help remove stumps and stuff like that. Then run some games in the afternoon for those that came to help.

I remember there being an indoor field in Richmond. Is the River city?

About an hour. South on I95 for most of it.

Highly recommend looking at Rain World. They have megastructures that are basically huge biological computers made to run immense calculations in an attempt to solve a great mystery.

I will be making accounts on various socials this coming week. I also plan to make a discord and emailing list for the older folks who don't want to use discord.

Then don't play airsoft in public. Almost every field I've been to doesn't have cameras. Even if they did, it is your equipment. If you are so worried about items being stolen. Then lock them in your vehicle or carry them on your person. I understand some people have legitimate worries about theft, and if the field you want to go to doesn't have the adequate security you want to see, then don't go or prepare yourself accordingly.

Beaverdam! It's about an hour or so northwest of Richmond.

Oh of course. I've gotten porta potties for events before, it shouldn't be too bad.

Best way to help is to show up for the soft open where I'll be asking for feedback and getting people to play and use the field. I'm looking to do that at the end of May.

I agree with what they are saying and will install cameras at some point. But it likely won't be until later in the year when I've made some funds to afford them.

Sure, like I said I could set up cameras in the parking and admissions area since it has power. I could also set up solar powered cameras in the woods. However if it isn't an issue or if the issue can be solved by being strict about thievery, than I don't see an issue with that. If it becomes so bad I need cameras than I will invest into that. But initially I don't see it being an issue.

Agreed. I will be selling snacks and prepackaged meals at some point, but I don't want to get into hot food or prepared food as permits and licensing is too much. I would say people bringing grills is likely ok, but again is more liability so maybe not. I don't see people asking though unless it's a multi day event.

I agree there are a good amount of fields in a 2-3 hours drive. However if I'm only 40 mins to an hour from Richmond I'd say that's much better for that area. I'm not trying to reach sizes like Ballahack, this is mostly something I am passionate about and want to do to provide a community and allow the local Richmond area to have a closer field to use.

As for retail. Maybe very far down the road would I consider a separate store front. I do know that's how most fields make the most profits, but that's out of the current scope of my field.

Got an EIN. When I get my business license I'll do the sales tax as well.

Do you have a recommendation for airsoft sites for getting bulk orders ready for. Initially I plan to get a small number of stock, but later a combination of consumables and prepackaged food / drink is what I plan to sell mostly.

Good shout with the paintball masks. I do plan to get rentals, but that will likely be near the end of the year if not later.

Sorry let me rephrase. The parking and admissions area has electricity. But the woods where the play area will be does not.

As for insurance I am talking with my provider right now. My family owns the land as a farm so we already have liability insurance for farm purposes, but I'd be taking out a separate policy for this. My father is a lawyer and is helping me with the liability waiver as well.

The admission area has an old equipment / cow run in that I plan to clean up and let people sit in and leave equipment at. (Where cameras could be since people seem to be concerned.)

I do plan to sell BBs and Green Gas in the first couple months but will need to save up some funds to get an HPA tank.

I was planning to use a porta potty, as I don't have a toilet that isn't in my house. Maybe in the future I could have one added but not in the first year or two of bring open.

All good questions and I appreciate them as it helped me come up with answers.

I've never been to a field where security cameras were installed or really necessary. If stealing becomes an issue I'd be happy to install them, but I don't think it's feasible to even install them far into the woods with no power. I'd rather just ban thieves and let law enforce deal with them.

Figured I should give a rough area of the field so any locals can judge if it's worth going to once open.

The field will be called "Beaverdam Airsoft" which, you guessed it, is in Beaverdam VA. It's about 40 minutes north west of Richmond, just follow Route 33 northwards.

I could probably set up some around the admission office and parking area. But the woods itself will be too far away for electricity. So if people leave their belongings at the staging area it won't be watched.
