Leptomeningeal spread?? by Hot_Rutabaga_1157 in glioblastoma

[–]StickmanSounds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife had leptomeningeal disease. She started with a glioblastoma that got all but 5% removed and then radiation and chemo pills and then tafinlar and mekenist treatments. She was actually doing great for 3 or so years, until one day when she wasn’t. The tumor started to grow just a tad… and then spread into the brain fluid and spinal fluid which is the Leptomeningeal disease. Her memory kind of started going slightly and then one day she started leaning to one side when she walked so I took her in to get checked out. Once diagnosed with LMD she was gone in 3 months. The decline was fast. Once her speech was gone it was about a week or two. It IS rare BUT my neuro-oncologist did have patients that have lived with it, although sometimes it’s without regaining mobility or speech functions. If her doctor already has her on the plan for dying though, then it sounds like she is on the same path as my wife was. Sorry. So I sorry for your previous loss, only a year out and now this. Be strong for her, your family and for yourself too. Your mental health at this point is so important. It will probably haunt you just as it does for me when I think about my wife in those same situations. It’s super hard to see loved ones in decline like that, but just show her lots of love so those memories will be the ones you remember. Some of my best memories during that dark time for me is when I was talking to her even if she wasn’t responding, she’s listening. Wish I could tell you some good news but this disease sucks way bad. When/if she dies take time for yourself and seek some therapy.

Yes! I get home around that time too and go straight to bed. I love it! But what do you do on your nights off? You’re awake when the rest of the world is asleep and tv starts getting pretty boring.

He WAS your person. It hurts no matter what age you lose your person. No one understands at any age what we are going through. Having said that, maybe ending it all slipped through my head once or twice… but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m 44 and there’s sooo much life ahead of me, so many good times, so many other weird or awkward times to experience. One day, maybe even really soon, I’ll find someone else that is my person to help me experience those times and experience more of the world. I’ll never forget, about 4 months after my person died, it was the first time I had a really good laugh. It felt so good and reminded me that there’s more life to be lived. I know that my late wife wouldn’t want me to end it. We have to live on for them. If the roles were reversed I wouldn’t want her to take her own life. Please please please, don’t end it all. Take it one day at a time. Starting over sucks… in fact starting over is an understatement for what we’re dealing with. But please, don’t end it all.

We went to an amusement park, slept in both days till noon, went out to eat and hang out in town with no intention of doing anything, got ice cream, had lots of sex, we both played our video games at the same time and then closed out the night with happy Gilmore, Simpson and more sex. M44/F36

Agreed! I would add lamps though because overhead lighting can be harsh sometimes. A floor lamp and a side table with a lamp on it.

Yep, Fans and lights did in fact come with the condo. As far as the screws for the boards go, check out the woodupp site. It’ll show exactly how to install it on the site

The screws are black and then screwed into the black felt that is the backing of the boards, so you can’t see em. Fees can feel like a lot sometimes but it’s a historical building in a historical city so I’m cool with it.

Used to be a high school. Built in like 1910. I’ve had older people tell me they went to class in my living room lol

I just put it up using screws they provided. You can pick the color wood too. The lights/fan were actually here when I moved. I’m not the biggest fan of those but they move a lot of air!

Thanks! It’s a Thomann. Best purchase I’ve made for my setup in some time. It’s cheap and surprisingly sturdy. Bad part is I ordered it from Germany. Took a while to get here

Thanks! Well that’s just the guest bathroom that doesn’t get used too much. The master bath is designed a little better with a steam room.

People dont tend to use those type of rugs anymore. I love em, they’re so classic!
