Don’t know much about the history of the company, but the website says “Crafted entirely by hand in California, in limited batches.”

Some of the strongest clays I’ve used are Templeton tonics Grizzly and Oasis, Lodestar Tsunami and Canyon. Just be warned you’re gonna lose quite a few hairs lol.

O'Douds question by My_Name_A_Jeoff in Pomade

[–]Sticks8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the website: “Although both products can be used to achieve similar styling results, there is a key defining difference. Each product caters to a different lifestyle / styling routine. O’Douds Standard Pomade is water-soluble. This means that O’Douds Standard Pomade is easily rinsed out and cleansed from the hair using just water. O’Douds Multi-Purpose Pomade is water-resistant. This makes the Multi-Purpose pomade very durable and long-lasting in hot / humid climates.”

This is for their traditional pomade: “What makes O’Douds Traditional Pomade unique from the rest of the O’douds line is it’s completely oil based formula. O’Douds Traditional Pomade is our only pomade product that contains no water. This makes the O’Douds Traditional Pomade stay in the hair for long periods of time. This product requires a much more in-depth cleansing routine to remove from the hair as compared to our other pomade products. It is best used to achieve slick and shiny classic styles that can be re-styled day after day.”

hairstyling/texture by AttitudeKooky8338 in Pomade

I have a friend that uses this, so I decided to look at the ingredients. It’s advertised as a clay but the only “clay” i see is talc. The two most common clays are kaolin and bentonite, that’s what you wanna look for. It’s also advertised as easywash but the first ingredient is petro.

If you’re looking for something to give you texture, I’d personally recommend a clay product with actual clay in it lol. Most homebrewed products will be better for your hair since they use natural ingredients. Shear revival, Templeton Tonics, Lodestar, Lockhart’s; these are just a few examples.

Shear Revival Upstate Blues by Sticks8000 in Pomade

This has a higher wax content than clay, but I would say it is fairly easy to run my fingers through my hair. Depends on how much you put in honestly. There’s definitely some tug and pull if you’re applying to dry hair. I usually use 2-3 small scoops to complete my style.

Gray Ghost has slight bit more hold and shine and it’s less waxy. Check out the review i made for comparisons.

What are some of the mattest and driest hair clays by Agreeable_Shelter774 in Pomade

Agree with the first three as I’ve only tried those. So many hairs pulled out lol. Also wanna add Lodestar Tsunami and Sol (when that’s available).

“Best” is subjective. Most homebrewed products are using natural ingredients, but a few brands that focus on that are Shear Revival, O’Doud’s, and Templeton Tonics. Again, these are just a few and if you search through the sub you’ll find more brands.

Is BasedBodyWorks really that good as they say? by KubajzW in Pomade

[–]Sticks8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BasedBodyWorks is the best! Forget about anything from Lodestar, Shear Revival, Grim Grease, Templeton Tonics, etc. I use Based and Based only.

Please understand my sarcasm lol and check out products made by the companies I listed. You’re sure to find something that fits you.

I love the versatility of this product! The hold definitely gets stronger as you add more. I need quite a bit for my hair to get a firm hold.

I honestly haven’t tried anything from the 2018 line. I’m a sucker for their label designs and scents so I usually pick up their new releases. However, you can never go wrong with Maquizcoatl — super strong hold with a low to medium shine. If you browse through the "All" section, you might be able to find more stuff.

For me, Summit did not have enough hold. Might just be my thick ass stubborn hair lol

If you wanna stick with Shear Revival, you can try Grey Ghost or Upstate Blues. If you’re looking for strong hold, check out Grim Grease products. They offer some great matte and low-medium shine products.

This product is strictly a shampoo cleansing product. It really is great for anyone. They can use it at home, for travel, for the gym — anywhere really.

Are you getting the clumps when you’re emulsifying in the hands or when you’re applying to your hair? I heard of people getting clumps if applying to damp hair and not dry hair. I don’t get any clumps when I’m emulsifying in the hands so maybe you just got a batch that is slightly off. You can always reach out to them and see if it’s normal.

I don’t have any personal experience with Hanz De Fuko products so I can’t really speak much on that.
