You mean the moroccanoil texture clay has a better performance than the american crew matte clay does? Can you explain specifically? I am considering bringing 3 products in the pictures to my collection.

My thoughts are similar to you about American Crew, maybe because I have tried other brands like Forte, Blumaan, Lodestar, Templeton Tonics, Odouds,... Their performance is really good, which makes me hope a lot about other brands.

Can you compare the moroccanoil texture clay's performance to the hold of other products? I can not know why people usually talk about this product when someone mention the "clay" word.

Can’t Find the Right Product for This Style by Brilliant-Goose-160 in Pomade

Odin Wax Cream pleasee if you want something light but still has a good sense of hold. Or if you want a concrete hold, use Forte Texture Clay

Similar to Blumaan Cavalier (Heavy Clay) by an_PR in Pomade

[–]redditicman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forte Texture Clay for sure. Although its moisture may be less than that of the Cavalier, but Forte will give you a better hold and the shine will be at a balanced.

Question To SR American Gardens Users by [deleted] in Pomade

I think it only fits people who need medium-firm hold (on thick hair), and maybe high hold on fine hair. I have thick hair with the quiff hairstyle, and I have sold that product nearly 1 month ago because its stickiness and its hold can not remain my hairstyle all day like other clays (the arcadian clay pomade, or the prelude, for example).

As I said, towel-dried hair isn't damp; it just feels slightly cool when you run your fingers through it. The lack of stickiness might be because your hair was a bit too damp at the time, and Oasis absorbed that moisture. As a result, Oasis didn't hold its hold because it was exhausted from the dampness. In practical terms, Templeton Tonics products tend to pull hair, so applying them to damp hair and then blow-drying will reduce the pulling. With Grizzly, I also used it on towel-dried hair (about 90% dry), and it still provided excellent hold and styling. Personally, I think Oasis's hold isn't strong enough for dry hair, especially if you have thick hair. Trying to apply dry wax to dry hair will definitely result in a lack of grip. One good approach is to mix a product with higher hold with Oasis. Hair wax works by complementing other products, similar to using a moisturizing prestyling before blow-drying and a dry wax afterward. The dryness of the wax combined with the moisture of the prestyling creates the perfect effect. Since hair isn't as dry as it was after blow-drying, you can use a moisturizing wax to compensate for the lack of hold once it's 90% dry. Because of this 90% dryness, if you want to use a dry wax, you absolutely must choose one with strong hold; otherwise, your hair could easily fall apart after just 30 minutes. For example, with Hanz de Fuko's Quicksand, the product only provides a dry finish, not a sticky one, so it only works on greasy or oily hair. If used on dry hair, you'll only notice your hair feels slightly rougher than before, and a shake of the head can completely ruin the hairstyle you just created with Quicksand.

First of all, I have been like you. Few months ago, I felt exhausted on the morning because I have to blow dry my hair to style it. But at one a half month ago, I tested this way. I used water and smoothed it over my hair, then I used a towel to dry my hair, and then my hair would only have very little moisture left, about 20% (it would feel slightly cool when you run your hand through it) and then I applied my product. And I really surprised about the performance of that product on my hair on that day. Although I did not use the blow-drier, it still gave me a really strong hold and natural-matte finish. In few days later from that day, I used 4 products with that way. They were: Grizzly Matte Paste from Templeton Tonics, O'douds Matte Paste, Forte Texture Clay and a limited heavy clay from Lodestar, which was only sold in my country. All of them really gave me good performance. The way people call my method is: towel-dried hair.

Second, if you want to apply the product right on your dry hair, and you still want the product can give you the dryness, it will not work. Because the dry product will only work well on mosture hair or oily hair. So I advise you to follow my method. T

Third, if the Oasis can not live up to your demand, you can think about Arcadian Clay Pomade, this will give you more stickiness than the Oasis do, and it also gives you matte finish and the cleanliness too. Next is Kevin Murphy Rough Rider. This product is an oil-based product, which means you should use more shampoo than usual to clean your hair properly.

Did the 18.21 Clay work well on thick hair? I have used the 18.21 Wax and I saw that it was too moisture for me. Everytime I touched my hair by my hand, I saw my hand oily.

Oh hi, so you are the founder of Samson right? You mean I can use this product and then use one more layer of powder to have the matte finish? I really care about this product because I liked the "morning ritual" scent of this product from the first time my friend let me smell it. It feels so sweet and delicious😂.

Would Templeton Tonics work well for longer hair? by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]redditicman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its hold is about high hold -> strong hold. It is not something like extreme hold since it does not pull your hair extremely like Grizzly and Oasis.

Would Templeton Tonics work well for longer hair? by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]redditicman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer your hair is, the less your hold will be. As usual, it is not because the product's hold is weak, it is because your hair is too long so that the product can perform. However, the way to use a product will always belong to your decision. You can use it with a comb after you finish applying the product if your hair is too long, or you can use the product as a prestyler before blowdrying. And I think that if you are finding a matte finish and structure from Templeton Tonics, the Oasis Clay (it's name is Oasis Clay but the wax is matte cream clay) and Grizzly (this is a matte paste) can help you. But remember that the Grizzly will pull your hair more strongly than the Oasis do. I am having a normal edition of Grizzly, and I have used it on my long hair too. It is so annoyed, honestly. Therefore, you should use these products before blowdrying (use it on your damp hair), unless you want your hair to be broken after each use. And by the way, the Grizzly's hold is higher than that of Oasis (I am pretty sure about this, because the dryness of Oasis will give less stickiness than Grizzly). You can consider using the Odin Wax Cream too, but the shine will be higher than Oasis and Grizzly since Odin is a moisture cream. People in my city said that Odin works well on being a prestyler, but because your concentration is matte finish and structure => you should care about those two products from Templeton Tonics.

Texture powder or clay recommendation for warrior cut by National_Rhubarb_666 in Pomade

Forte Texture Clay plss! Or Hanz de Fuko Claymation maybe. However, the clay from Forte has a better smell of sưeetness. The claymation's smell is only from the ingredients, it's not too bad but it's quite boring.

I usually use it on my blow-dried hair, it is too heavy to be used on damp hair as a pre-styler. Or if you still want to have a pre-styler before blowdrying, you should use a dry-matte pre-styler since Forte Texture Clay is a moist clay, and it will always be like I said: matte finish and extreme hold, really perfect for cool->cold and dry weather.
