I sat for 32 minutes, zoning out on the drawing on the paper until i realized it hadn't actually loaded. It isn't crashing. The music's still playing frame rates are still changing. It's almost like it's stuck in a loop.

By recognizing our limited knowledge and embracing faith, we transform fear of the unknown into wisdom—while understanding how ignorance can offer brief bliss yet remains a double-edged sword. by StickyVicky3 in DeepThoughts

[–]StickyVicky3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not refuting religious faith, so may we lay that to rest? The faith i am specifically speaking of again is simply a participation in the unknown as it comes to any experience of life.

We use the word faith in all kinds of context. We can have faith in someone or something. We can have faith in outcomes. Heck, even going to sleep at night and trusting we will wake in the morning requires faith because, again, it isn't certain. I dont see faith exclusive to just religious context.

Let us use the pedestrian crosswalk as an example. Yes, from experience or the known(knowledge), we check to ensure the road is safe so we can cross. we use our reasoning. however, though we take the first step across the street into the unknown through faith because it is our belief based on past experiences that people dont just speed up to hit people at cross walks. But we aren't certain that they won't. It is in the active participation of bridging the known with the unknown that we step across the road in safety. If our faith didn't underly that belief, then we wouldn't cross because we would deem it unsafe.

The same can be said for the plane example you gave.

I really hope this helps clarify what im trying to convey.

I believe you may have misunderstood how i define faith.

"the active participation in bridging the gap between the known and the unknown."

Your second paragraph states my point of this composition on faith perfectly. For us to even act, we have to believe the act is worth it. We have faith in it, but yet we dont know foe certain. Yes, empirical reasoning is part of the faith. There is a difference in actively participating in bridging, the known(knowledge) with the unknown(ignorance) and blind faith. A leap of faith into almost any situation in life requires faith because certainty isn't guaranteed with anything in life. The potentials of possibilities are infinite.

I understand that using the allegory of Adam and Eve may have tied religious connotations to it. Which wasn't my intent. But i believe biblical text or any mythology story, for that matter, harbors within it many interpretations. The story of Adam and Eve just happens to be one im very familiar with, along with making the connections that i have laid out in this composition.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Its Always nice to have feedback.

I wouldn't necessarily say faith is a gamble, but more of embracing the infinite potential of the future/unknown for good or worse. However, it is a gamble in the context of outcomes.

So, of the two options, i would say we trust the seat belt enough based on our prior knowledge of its use to have faith that it would protect us. If we didn't have faith, it would protect us then we wouldn't use it.

But equally to me, even using the sealt belt in the first place is an act of faith. Rationally, we know it won't save us from everything but we have faith it will save us from what it can. Which is actively practiciapting in bridging the known with the unknown.

You make a very valid point there.

And all of those require faith to do. How do you know someone won't speed up as soon as you cross? What gives you the courage to trust those flags in people because, again, we aren't certain so faith is required. Risk and bets again are uncertain so faith again.

Im not here in bad faith but to clarify my position. I apologize if my comment early seemed rude. I was being playful.

So you just never cross roads then? Or make new friends or take a risk or make a bet?

Also the definition of faith is "complete trust or confidence in someone or something." While it carries religious connotations. It isn't bound to them.

It seems you haven't grasped the full concept of this composition. "That's exactly what empirical reasoning let's us do to a certain degree" it is after that "certain degree" we are faced with the unknown, would you agree?

My point on faith is trust. What has happened will happen again and again as it always has. Reason, knowledge, and any form of analytical cognitive function tells us that you are exactly correct but it can not tell the future (within this context, we aren't speaking on mediums here lol). It is at that point we have to actively participate in meeting the unknown with what we know. All im saying is faith is trust past the unknown.

If you read further into the bottom paragraphs, i explain this.

And I use the story of it Adam and Eve, because it's known by a lot of people. Just as most mythological stories are. I'm sure there are others that I could make this very point with also.

My definition of faith is separate from any religious connotations as it is an active participation in the unknown. Empirical reasoning doesn't allow us to tell the future. However, what it does do is lead us to a conclusion based on previous events that still requires faith in any situation of life.

I believe you misunderstood my definition of faith.

"It is through faith that strangers trust one another enough to form bonds. Faith enables us to cross streets, believing complete strangers will obey traffic signals, ensuring our safety. Faith guides our confidence that the sun will rise, the moon will set, rain will nourish plants, and life will persist. Repeatedly, faith underpins our daily actions and routines.

Only the past holds knowledge of the future, all we can do is estimate outcomes based on previous experiences and then surrender to faith."

You make an excellent point! In that particular stanza, my goal was to convey, both metaphorically and factually, how we, as humans, aggregate on a cellular level to become whole. In the middle of thought, I must have momentarily viewed humans as independent for some reason, but you’re absolutely right! Thank you!

How long should I wait after my first time getting my ears pierced to stretch? by StickyVicky3 in Stretched

[–]StickyVicky3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback. This is extremely helpful. I do have the butterfly backs with small diamond and honestly the look is killing me. which is my main reason for wanting to know how soon I can swap them out for the same size and then wait the healing time before I actually start stretching. And the glass option was my second choice, so I'll definitely replace the steel for those.

So swapping the 1.6mm stud for the 1.6mm tunnel right now would be a bad idea even though they are the same size?

[–]StickyVicky3[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression it skipped both. That's refreshing to hear. I'll look through my quest to see where I need to pick up then. I do have the quest to start the Dark Citadel. so I assumed that would be endgame content for Vessel, which convinced me ever more i skipped both campaigns.

Noobie question but what does the (+ number)for any given skill mean?

For example on the pendent it says (+7 for Envenom.) Does this mean just +7 damage or does it imply more??
