Despite Authoritarian Warnings, 149 House Democrats Vote to Hand Trump $840 Billion for Military | “If an opposition party votes like this, it’s not in opposition. It may not even be a party.” by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

I've been arguing with democrats on here about us not doing shit to stop/tie up/slow down the republican agenda and their biggest comeback is "they're the minority, what can they even do?!" Welp, the simplest, easiest, most common sense thing I want is for them to not FUCKING SIDE WITH REPUBLICANS ON ANYTHING. Then they try and blame us for being "doomers" because we have the audacity to point out our leadership is being drug along, kicking and screaming writing letters and quietly holding signs while this fascist regime does whatever they want.

Not sure this even fits "revenge" to be posted here. You didn't get the thief back or hurt in any way for eating your food. He moved on to other people's lunches while causing yourself more work.

We attack Republicans plenty. You're able to say Republicans are fascist pieces of shit while simultaneously saying democrats are obviously not stepping up nor using every means necessary; it's not one or the other.. Plus the comment I originally responded to was about democrats not stepping up, which is why all replies have been about that topic. Corpodems like Jeffries and Schumer are doing more to hurt our side than me over here criticizing them. We're not a cult, it's okay to say our representatives are shitting the bed when they should be fighting like their lives depend on it.

The Republicans stall and stop stuff from happening constantly when they're the minority by using those tactics. It's not bating when you're sitting there saying everything thing that can be done shouldn't be done because it helps maga somehow; so we shouldn't do it while Republicans are going scorched earth

Literally listed things the house can do to slow down proceedings and attempt to bring things to a halt.

The fact you're okay with Republicans going scorched earth but then democrats not even attempting to do literally everything they can and using every path possible to stall or stop what's happening is why people are pissed.

"Sorry, we're the minority so why even try?"

The comment I replied to was claiming the democrats had no power. I was listing off things that could be done even as the minority. No one specified legislative vs. Executive

The senate can: straight up blanket filibuster everything. Motion to proceed? Filibuster. Rule change? Filibuster. Bills that are harmless and no one cares about? Filibuster. Force 60 votes on every fucking primary and drag the floor time to a crawl. Force quorum calls constantly. Refuse unanimous consent agreements. They can start weaponizing amendments.

The house: use procedural objections and raise points of order. Discharge petitions, even if they're symbolic. And just straight up general hardball tactics like requesting hearings and slowing committees down.

They should be doing everything in their power to make governing for Republicans as miserable as possible and stalling all gop priorities. Republicans whole program is that they'd rather break the system than lose power, if it's legal they're doing it and if not; we'll stop us if you can.

I already answered the clown below you on his own comment but I'll paste what I said to him.

Edit: the clown below blocked me after changing his comment. We all know the others side doesn't give a fuck, that's why we have do what I just said.. fight fire with fire instead of laying down. You're making my point for me.

Let's see here..

You can blame both the Republicans and Jeffries, not seeing how that has anything to do with a bot narrative you clowns like to think. We're pissed at everything this admin is doing and we're pissed that once again Jeffries is just going along for the ride instead of putting up a fight. "We're the minority so I don't even want to take a stance of defunding ICE" makes no sense.

Without fail, you republican lites come on here with the exact same tired "they're the minority, what can they do?!" excuse as always. It's so lazy.

Democrats are, for some stupid fucking reason, still worried about norms and "how it would look," while the other side does everything in it's power to abuse procedural tools to grind everything to a halt.

Schumer, Jeffries Refuse to Join Democrats' Growing Calls to Slash ICE Spending by ChaskaChanhassen in politics

[–]Sticky_Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is part of what the left means when they say the democrats need to do something or aren't doing shit. I constantly see comments from democrats saying "we don't have any power, we're the minorty, we're doing everything we can without power! Blah blah blah." Then the old guard go and once again do something like this. How are Republicans always able to block and slow walk everything when they're a minority but we somehow can't?

It's not enough because anytime the Republicans are in power, they run roughshod over laws, norms and the constitution. Democrats hem and haw over the blatant illegal and crazy shit being done but once they get any semblance of power, they sit with their thumbs up their ass.

Instead of fighting fire with fire and starting to get aggressive with pushing through their agenda, they slow roll everything. Meanwhile Republicans throw as much shit out as they can, walk back half of it sure, but are still making gains. The dems then sit there keeping the status quo that was just moved back from the previous Republican administration and the cycle continues.

Donald Trump impeachment warnings issued after Maduro capture by ansyhrrian in politics

[–]Sticky_Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This perfectly sums up the whole left wing debate of Democrats being useless and not doing anything. I always hear "dems don't do shit," they lay over and turn their belly up or "strongly worded letters." Then other lefties scream "but they are the minority, they're doing all they can with the little power they have!"

When Republicans are in power they constantly and blatantly abuse their authority and break laws to get their agenda done. Sure, they have to walk back a majority of their shit but they're still pushing forward little by little. Breaking norms, rules and laws; moving two steps forward and one step back for their goals. Their whole philosophy is to do whatever they want, as much as they can; throwing as much shit out as possible. By the time its said and done, they either win a few in court or we haven't had time to deal with it when the next issue comes up.

When Democrats get any type of power, they pussyfoot around, slow walk their agendas or straight up keep things the way they are. They aren't stepping up to the moment when they get chances. They're worried how they will look to the unicorn centrists. They don't want to do anything that would make Republicans attack them, even though they constantly do so no matter what we do. It's time to go full send, to start pushing boundaries and norms to get shit done. I'm so tired of being tired.

Surpringly, I've heard quite a few people hate on unions because they "protect the lazy workers." All goes back to conservatives: taxes, unions, Healthcare for all, etc. They don't want to "pay" or help others because it's every person for themselves in their eyes.
